Warm & Toasty for PP519

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am super-excited to be hosting our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges are so much fun! You select three items from the board, across, down or diagonally and use that to jump-start your creativity. Since a lot of us are making holiday cards right now, I added a few squares to the board the would work, although for the challenge you can create for ANY occasion you’d like.

My card is inspired by THREE rows on the board:
  • Patterned Paper - Die Cut - Embossing
  • Die Cut - Fun / Fancy Fold - Embellishment
  • Embossing - Fun / Fancy Fold - Coloring Tool
*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.

Color Combo:
For my card, I decided to use one of my favorite stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up!® August - December Mini Catalog: Warm & Toasty. I just love the adorable little characters in this stamp set, especially this chubby ice-skating polar bear. SO cute, right?! I also used quite a few of the products from the Snowflake Splendor Suite, including the Snowflake Wishes stamp set and coordinating So Many Snowflakes Dies.
For the fun / fancy fold element, I went with a Joy Fold Card. I love this fun fold because it adds some extra “WOW” to the card but isn’t super complicated to make. (I’ve listed the measurements below.) The placement of the bow helps to keep the Highland Heather panel closed, too. The corner just barely tucks behind the bow so it’s still easy to open and close.

Probably the most time consuming part of this card was fussy-cutting the polar bear. But it really wasn’t too difficult, with a little patience. A little tip with fussy cutting is to leave a bit of a border around your image when cutting. It tricks the eye into focusing on the image itself, not the cutting. It’s tough to see in the photos, but the polar bear and snowflake are accented with Wink of Stella so the card has a LOT of sparkle in addition to the ribbon, glimmer paper and gems. I never say no to sparkle! Haha!
Joy Fold Card Measurements and Details:
  • Balmy Blue Card Base: 8 1/2” x 4 1/4”, score on long side at 3"
  • Purple Posy Cardstock: 5 1/4” x 4”, embossed with Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper: 2 3/4” x 4"
  • Highland Heather Cardstock: 8” x 3”, score on long side at 4"
  • Whisper White Cardstock (front of card): 3 3/4” x 2 3/4” , stamp snowflakes in Balmy Blue ink, some full strength, some stamped-off once
  • Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper: 3 3/4” x 1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (sentiment): 3 1/4” x 3/4”, stamp sentiment in Highland Heather ink and banner punch left side using Banner Triple Punch
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside left panel): 2 3/4” x 4”, stamp small polar bear in Momento ink, color with Stampin’ Blends and accent with Wink of Stella
  • Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper (inside left panel): 1/4” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside Highland Heather panel): 3 3/4” x 2 3/4”, stamp snowflakes in Balmy Blue ink
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scrap to stamp large polar bear in Momento ink, color with Stampin’ Blends and cut out using Paper Snips (accent with Wink of Stella for added sparkle)
  • Balmy Blue Cardstock: scrap to die cut one snowflake
  • Snowflake Splendor Ribbon and Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems
Here’s a peek inside the card! I added some stamped snowflakes to the inside of the Highland Heather layer but left the sentiment blank because this card could be used for Christmas or also a winter birthday…or just to say hello. I figured I’d just add the sentiment when I sent the card. I also added another layer on the left side to add a little handwritten note. I accented the sweet little bear with Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin” Blends on his ears and feet. Then, I glittered him up with Wink of Stella. Because, well, everything is better with sparkle!

Daisy Lane for PP518

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely LeAnne is hosting our Sketch Challenge.
As soon as I saw this sketch, I immediately thought it would be a great way to showcase some of that Designer Series Paper that I hoard…um, rather collect. Haha! I started looking though my assortment of papers and stopped on a pack that I haven’t used in a while, the Flowers for Every Season DSP

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.

Color Combo:
This time of year, I am making a LOT Christmas cards, so I wanted to change the pace a little and make a fun and cheery card for a friend who received some good news this week. I mixed up the patterns in the paper and paired them up with the Daisy Lane stamp set and Medium Daisy Punch. I also added some floral texture in the background using the Ornate Garden 3D Embossing Folder

I decided to add a little sparkly red heart on the center of the daisy and I just love the pop of bright color. I thought the little gold bow played off the sentiment, too. What do you think? At first, this sketch did intimidate me a little bit. But I definitely will be using it again!
