Friends are Like Seashells for PP542

Happy Sunday, friends! It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players! This week, the lovely and talented Jaydee is hosting our monthly Sketch Challenge

If you have visited me before, you know Sketch Challenges are my FAVORITE! I love using a card layout as the starting point for a design. The sketch this week is fantastic, too. I hope you will join us and play along.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I decided to use the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set and coordinating Seaside Seashells Dies for my card. The large shell worked so well for the focal image. I also used some coordinating products in this product suite: the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper. I just love the texture they add to the card. The seashells were colored on Shimmery White Cardstock with a watercolor wash background, then I stamped the images in their coordinating colors, The added shimmer is really beautiful in person. I also want to give a shout out to Chelsey Christensen from the Stampin’ Up!® Artisan Design Team for the coloring inspiration using this stamp set. :)

In Bloom for PP541

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am very excited to be hosting our monthly Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
I always think it’s funny that my friends over at The Paper Players even LET me host Clean-and-Simple week. They know how I struggle with it. I will say though, that over the years I’ve gotten a lot better at this style of card making and have really started to enjoy it. :)

For this challenge, I added in the theme of using “Polka Dots” on your CAS project. What do we mean by Clean-and-Simple?

MINIMAL LAYERS
LITTLE TO NO EMBELLISHMENTS
LOTS OF CLEAN WHITE SPACE

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
For my CAS Polka Dot project, I decided to use two of my favorite products, the In Bloom Bundle and the new Dots & Checks Embossing Folders. I can’t even tell you how much I have used the In Bloom Stamp set and coordinating Pierced Blooms Dies. If you don’t have this bundle, add it to your list. It’s so easy to make beautiful cards with all of the different flowers and that pierced detail really pops!

If you have ever visited me before, you know that I absolutely LOVE bright colors and rainbows! I used some cardstock scraps to make a rainbow border on my card front. This is a fantastic layout to use up some of those card scraps you probably have taking up space in your craft room too. So many possibilities with color combinations!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Basic White THICK Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Two pieces EACH of Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Highland Heather Cardstock: 1-1/4” x 1/2”
  • One piece Gorgeous Grape Cardstock: 1-1/4” x 1/2”
  • Add the cardstock strips along the left side of the card base using liquid glue
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-1/4” x 5-1/2”, embossed using the polka dots from the Dots & Checks Embossing Folders
  • Adhere the embossed Basic White piece along the left side of the card base, slightly overlapping the colored cardstock strips
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut the flowers and to stamp and die cut the sentiment using the In Bloom Bundle
  • Small scraps of Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay Cardstock to die cut the flower centers and leaves
  • Accent the flower centers with Wink of Stella for added sparkle
  • Three Rhinestone Basic Jewels
Normally I share a photo of the inside of the card, but I decided to leave this one blank to include a special handwritten note for the recipient. So instead, I’ll just share a photo of our adorable foster puppy, formerly known as Cassie. Her new family decided to rename her Frannie, so we are getting her used to that. She is such a happy dog, we are really enjoying our time with her.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple “Polka Dots" Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday May 21st 2021
