Rainbow of Happiness for PP576

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne is hosting our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
My Tic-Tac-Toe Selection: Rainbow - Sparkle - Die Cut

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges are so much fun to get your creative mojo going. So many choices! That top row caught my eye immediately. I mean, how could I say no to rainbows AND sparkle?

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
I can’t say enough how much I LOVE the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Brilliant Rainbow Dies in the Stampin’ Up!® January - June Mini Catalog! For my card, I decided to use the really big rainbow die as the focal image. I just love a big, bold image and this one really delivers. I paper pieced the fun striped pattern from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP which can be earned for FREE right now with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration. I won’t even tell you how many packs of this paper I own. It’s awesome! And how about those sparkly clouds? I punched them out of the new Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper

I popped the sentiment die cuts from the Layering Circles Dies. I had intended for it to look like a sun, but the Bermuda Bay layer kept throwing me off. So I added some Bumblebee Gingham Trim behind the circles for more color and some added texture. The Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels were the perfect finishing touch, too. I feel like I’m using these on every card I make lately and I’m not even sorry about it. Haha!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Bermuda Bay Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, die cut with the Brilliant Rainbow Dies
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (Sale-A-Bration): 3” x 4-3/4”, die cut with the Brilliant Rainbow Dies and paper piece the striped pattern into the Basic White layer
  • Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper: punch out two clouds using the Cloud Punch
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut a 1-7/8” circle from the Layering Circles Dies, stamp sentiment and two sets of hearts in Melon Mambo ink
  • Bermuda Bay Cardstock: scrap to die cut a 2” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels & Bumblebee Gingham Trim
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp the sentiment and two sets of hearts in Melon Mambo ink
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (SAB, inside card): 1/2” x 5-1/4
Finally, here is look inside the card. I simply added a small strip of the same DSP I used for the rainbow and a coordinating sentiment. Such a fun card to pop in the mail to a friend to let them know you are thinking about them.

*On a Personal Note: If you have followed me for any length of time you have probably seen my handsome kitty, Benjamin Maxwell. We adopted him from a shelter in North Dakota back in   2007 when he was about 7 months old. For almost 15 years, this guy blessed our home with his awesome personality and affectionate disposition. At almost 24 pounds, he knew how to make an entrance and would never leave your side if he knew you had a brush or some treats.

About a month ago, I discovered a mass on his chin and brought him to the vet. He had also lost a very significant amount of weight despite continuing to eat well. We decided that because of his age, to just keep an eye on it for a little while as his bloodwork looked good and overall there were no changes in his behaviors. Over the past week, things changed considerably and the mass had doubled in size.
The mass had also spread into his mouth and we were very worried that it was becoming too painful for him to eat. On Thursday, I brought him into the vet and we made the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to my beautiful boy. I know in my heart that he had a wonderful life with us and it was the right decision. It has been an incredibly tough couple of days though.

Rest peacefully my sweet boy, you are so very loved and dearly missed.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a HAPPY day today!

-Anne Marie

Party Penguin for PP574

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely Claire is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge
I love that Claire picked “Winter Animals” as our theme to go along with the Clean-and-Simple Challenge. I had a few ideas in mind but finally decided to create a fun birthday card using the adorable Penguin Place stamp set and Penguin Builder Punch, which were in the August-December Mini Catalog.

This set isn’t “technically” retired, but it is NOT available to order right now. Both the stamps and the punch will be returning in the July Mini Catalog later on this year. So, if you don’t have it yet, there will still be another change to order it! Even if you didn’t have this stamp set, I think the focal image could easily be swapped out with any other stamp set with cute critters and balloons.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Daffodil Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and balloon strings in Momento ink
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (Sale-A-Bration): 4” x 3/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp the penguin (Momento with Pumpkin Pie beak), penguin feet (Daffodil Delight), present (Pool Party) and trio of balloons (Magenta Madness, Daffodil Delight & Granny Apple Green)
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (SAB, inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp the sentiment and balloon string in Momento ink, stamp the balloon in Magenta Madness ink
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp two presents, one in Granny Apple Green ink and one in Pool Party ink, fussy-cut and glue to the inside of the card.
Finally, here is look inside the card. I added another strip of that adorable rainbow DSP along with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Penguin Place stamps. To “keep the party going from the front of the card” I stamped another balloon and added some fussy-cut presents.

You wouldn’t know it, but those presents are covering an oopsie. Just as I was adding this layer inside the card, I apparently had black some black ink on my finger and smeared it on the bottom right corner. Don’t you hate it when that happens? I always say, there are NO mistakes in stamping…just opportunities for embellishment. Those presents sure came to the rescue!  :)

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple “Winter Animals" ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday January 21st, 2022
