Christmas Classics for PP669

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Jaydee is hosting our Theme Challenge.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…can you believe it’s already December? Our theme is fitting this week to help inspire you to work on those holiday cards. I know I have a few more to create, so this challenge came at the perfect time! I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared measurements and a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo:
I used the Christmas Classics stamp and die set from the Stampin’ Up Mini Catalog on my card this week. This has easily become one of my favorite bundles for holiday cards. I paired it up with the Snowflake Wonder Specialty Specialty Paper for the background and the Silver Adhesive Backed Glimmer Paper for the berries. Unfortunately, both of these papers have sold out. But glimmer paper is really not hard to find and I think it would be easy to create your own specialty paper with white cardstock, a textured stamp and silver embossing powder. Easy fix!

There is a pop of texture on the white layer behind the sentiment using the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. There is also the tiniest pop of pink with the Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer Paper for the leaves.

This card may look a little familiar if you have visited my blog recently. I actually CASE-d myself! I shared the card above for the Paper Player Challenge #664 a few weeks ago. I loved the layout so much, I wanted to try it with some non-traditional holiday colors. Mostly because I seem to have a ridiculous amount of Boho Blue Cardstock in my craft room. I have no idea how I acquired so much of it. But I have always liked the blue, pink and gray combo and I thought it really worked for this card.

When it comes to Christmas cards, do you tend to prefer classic or non-traditional color combos?

Measurements and Details:
  • Boho Blue Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic Gray Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4” and 4-1/4” x 3”
  • Snowflake Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” and 5-1/4” x 1/2”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4-1/8” x 2-7/8” (embossed with Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder), 4” x 1-1/4” and  5-1/4” x 4”
  • Boho Blue Cardstoock: 4-1/4” x 4”
  • Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer Paper: scraps for (2) die-cut leaves and 5-1/4” x 1/2” for card interior
  • Silver Glimmer Paper: scraps for die-cut berries
  • Silver Simply Elegant Trim

Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I used a coordinating sentiment and little strip of that beautiful Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer Paper. Simple and oh, so pretty! I whipped up a dozen of these for team swap cards and kept on going to add to the holiday card stash. Speaking of, it’s about time to start getting them in the mail.

Beary Cute for PP667

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely LeAnne is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.

The Clean-and-Simple Challenge has a fun “Tag, You’re it!” theme this week. You can either create a card with a tag as the focal element or simply share some fab CAS tags for gift-giving. Most importantly, have fun creating! I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

For my project, I decided to create a cute Christmas card using the Beary Cute stamp set, coordinating Beary Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Tailor Made Tags Dies. I started with a Balmy Blue card base layered with Old Olive and and embossed Basic White layer. The Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder is one of my favorites right now for the perfect extra detail on holiday cards.

Next, I cut the tag from DSP and threaded some White Glittered Organdy Ribbon through the top. Then I fussy-cut the bears from the paper and added a stamped sentiment. The Festive Pearls were the perfect finishing touch. I popped the tag up on the card at an angle and ta-dah, this card was done and done! Don’t you just want to hug that baby bear…he’s so cute!!

I decided to whip up a few more tags since I had all of my supplies out. I just love the little bear with his sweater on one of the DSP patterns. He was easy to punch out, so I just layered him up on a die-cut circle and added a little present. Bears can give Christmas presents, right? Well, if they can wear sweaters, they can pretty much do anything they’d like. :-)

Speaking of presents, this has to be one of my favorite patterns in the DSP. I just love the mix of colors, too. I stamped one present and cut the other two from the DSP, layered them up on a circle and created a third tag.

Here is a look at the card and two additional tags all together. The other tags would work great for a coordinating gift, or could just as easily be turned into a card using the same background as the original. Tags really do make great focal images on cards and they are super-fun to make!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our ”Tag, You’re it!” Clean and Simple ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday November 24th, 2023
