Got a CASE of CAS Swap

Hello and happy *fabulous* Friday! Today I thought I would share two cards that I made for a swap on Splitcoast. Patty was our hostess for this swap and the theme was "Got a CASE of CAS". Here are the deets of the swap:

"CASE stands for 'copy and share everything' and all you need to do for this swap is to find a CAS ('clean and simple') card in the gallery and CASE it. The idea of casing a card generally means that you will use the main concept of the card and then change at least 2 things about it in creating your new card. This can mean changing the color of card stock, maybe use ribbon instead of brads, you can use a different image, or change the layout a bit, etc..."

My first card was a CASE of a card I saw HERE on Susan's blog, Susan's Day Off Creations. Funny thing is, I think I picked the only card from her blog that she did NOT post in her Splitcoast gallery. Oops! I have had the 2-Step Owl punch since it came out, but this was my first time to actually use it for a project. These little guys are SO stinkin' cute! I added some Crystal Effects to their eyes and to the heart on the wee dude in the middle to make him a little more "one of a kind".
My second card was a CASE of this card HERE from Paula on SCS. I completely over-complicated the flower element on the first 2 attempts...I had to keep reminding myself it was a clean and simple swap. I was making some crazy 3-D flowers that would never actually fit in the envelope to ship them out. I saved them for another project though. (*wink*) I have to admit, I had to resist the urge to add lots of layers to both cards but in the end, I was happy with how they came out. Hope you like them, and my attempt at "clean and simple"! Thanks for visiting today! :)

Whimsical Birthday Treats

Happy Monday! Today I thought I would try something different and make not only a card project, but also try my hand at a 3-D gift project as well. It's "Two-Fer-(...eh)-Monday"! That would have sounded so much cooler if today was Tuesday, oh well. Okay, this is a post with a lot of photos but that makes it SO much easier then explaining it all. I used the inspiration from THREE challenges for this one...guess that makes it a challenge trifecta!

(*Edited to add: I am also submitting this one to the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge for the week, "From a Card to Something Else". Thanks so much, Genny!)

First up, it's the one year anniversary at The Play Date Cafe (woot-woot)!  To celebrate, the theme for this week was a pink, orange, yellow and white color combo along with the following photo for inspiration:
For the sketch I went with the "square option" over at this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge:

Last, but not least, the Pals Paper Arts team threw out the challenge to incorporate some BLING onto your project this week. I think we ALL know how I feel about BLING...*sigh*...imagine my smiling face (instead of Marilyn's) in the photo below. Yup, sums it all up!
So, what's in that little box anyway?? Have you seen **this super-fabulous tutorial** by Erica Cerwin (from her blog, Pink Buckaroo Designs)....as soon as I did, I was itching to whip one of these cute boxes up. Thank you, Erica for such an awesome project idea! :)
How CUTE is this??? I always have some Anti-Bac Hand Gel in my purse to kill germs "on-the-go" and when I stopped by Bath & Body Works the other day, I saw their new "cupcake" inspired scents. YUM!  I scooped up a bunch of them with the intention of making these Birthday treats. The best part was, I put this box all together with left over scraps from my card. Ooooh, I just love it!
As much as I thought about using a cupcake-theme on the card, I wanted to stay true to the photo-inspiration and incorporated some sparkly flowers. Ah, there's the BLING! My color combo was Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White and Barely Banana (ret.). Everything else is listed below in the supply list. Hope you enjoy this project and try out one of Erica's cute Anti-Bac boxes for yourself! :)

Daffodil Thank You

This is my second card today, for me that is a pretty big feat! I was in need of a "thank you" card, but rather then use one from my stash, I wanted to make something new...*shaking my head*...this is why I have a card stash!

I used two challenges, that I have never participated in before, as my inspiration. My sketch came from Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge. Looking at it now, I really didn't stretch that middle panel out as per the sketch...whoops! So let me rephrase...my sketch is almost based on the one below:
The fun color combo came from The Color Dare blog

CD78:
Daffodil Delight
Chocolate Chip
Very Vanilla

I inked up my With All My Heart stamp set for the first time today. If you have visited my blog before you probably notice this is a trend. I am diligently working on using the many things living in the "Land of Misfit Stamps" (a.k.a.- my craft room). I had another image in mind but it looked too crazy with the background, so I just kept it simple. I heat embossed both the image and the sentiment (although it really doesn't look like it in the photos). I added some lace trim, a cool border, one lone sequin, some embossed polka dots and few, strategically placed, pearls to make the card complete. This is my attempt at "Shabby Chic". I will keep working on it!
While I was getting the card together, I looked behind me and look who was sprawled out on my other desk...Benjamin Maxwell. He looks like "Stampin' Roadkill", doesn't he? Yes, this is how he sleeps all the time. He is such a mess!
Oh, and if you read my earlier post...when my sweet husband got home from work today, somehow a pint of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey, my all-time favorite, appeared in the freezer. Guess he must have magical (blog reading) powers. Thanks, honey...you are awesome! :)
