Party Penguin for PP574

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely Claire is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge
I love that Claire picked “Winter Animals” as our theme to go along with the Clean-and-Simple Challenge. I had a few ideas in mind but finally decided to create a fun birthday card using the adorable Penguin Place stamp set and Penguin Builder Punch, which were in the August-December Mini Catalog.

This set isn’t “technically” retired, but it is NOT available to order right now. Both the stamps and the punch will be returning in the July Mini Catalog later on this year. So, if you don’t have it yet, there will still be another change to order it! Even if you didn’t have this stamp set, I think the focal image could easily be swapped out with any other stamp set with cute critters and balloons.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Daffodil Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and balloon strings in Momento ink
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (Sale-A-Bration): 4” x 3/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp the penguin (Momento with Pumpkin Pie beak), penguin feet (Daffodil Delight), present (Pool Party) and trio of balloons (Magenta Madness, Daffodil Delight & Granny Apple Green)
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (SAB, inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp the sentiment and balloon string in Momento ink, stamp the balloon in Magenta Madness ink
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp two presents, one in Granny Apple Green ink and one in Pool Party ink, fussy-cut and glue to the inside of the card.
Finally, here is look inside the card. I added another strip of that adorable rainbow DSP along with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Penguin Place stamps. To “keep the party going from the front of the card” I stamped another balloon and added some fussy-cut presents.

You wouldn’t know it, but those presents are covering an oopsie. Just as I was adding this layer inside the card, I apparently had black some black ink on my finger and smeared it on the bottom right corner. Don’t you hate it when that happens? I always say, there are NO mistakes in stamping…just opportunities for embellishment. Those presents sure came to the rescue!  :)

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple “Winter Animals" ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday January 21st, 2022

August 2021 - Stamping Sunday Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the August 2021 Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin and we share on the second Sunday of every month. Our theme for the month is “Sale-A-Bration: Take Two”.
This year, for the first time ever, Stampin’ Up!® is featuring a SECOND Sale-A-Bration! What is Sale-A-Bration? Well, it’s a great time to earn FREE stamping products. Simply place a minimum $50 order and you will earn a FREE product! How fun is that? You can choose from stamp sets or awesome Designer Series Paper. One of the products you can earn during Sale-A-Bration is the adorable Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper and that is what I’m featuring on my projects today!
This DSP coordinates perfectly with the Penguin Party Stamp Set and coordinating Penguin Builder Punch in the Mini Catalog, which are available right now! On of my favorite things about this paper is that some of the penguin images work perfectly with the punch. Talk about easy-peasy stamping. I used that punched penguin on my card and dressed him up with a little scarf and hat from the stamp set.

All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
I added some of that fun DSP to the background and angled the patterns to play off the little snowy slope in the stamped image. The Just Jade ribbon with those little flecks of gold sparkle really add some extra pizzazz, don’t you think?
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Fresh Freesia Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-12”
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Penguin Pace DSP (snowflake pattern): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Penguin Place DSP (striped Pattern): 3-7/8” x 3-1/4”, slice off at an angle using Paper Trimmer
  • Basic White Cardstock: die cut scalloped frame from Scalloped Contour Dies, mask off the edges of the die cut and stamp the snowy landscape and tree in Just Jade ink.
  • Punch Penguin from Penguin Place DSP
  • On a scrap of Basic White Cardstock, stamp the hat in Just Jade ink and the scarf in Fresh Freesia ink, fussy-cut and add to card
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 2-1/4” x 1/2”, stamp sentiment in Just Jade ink and banner punch both ends using Tailored Tag Punch
  • Just Jade Gold Ribbon and Pearls
Here’s the coordinating Post-It Note holder! I fussy cut the little fox from the Sale-A-Bration DSP and added in a fun sentiment from the Penguin Place stamp set. Super cute and easy to put together. Who loves that sentiment? “Be Cool. Be Chill. Be Merry.” Sounds good to me! :)

Post-It Note Holder Measurements and Details:
  • Fresh Freesia Cardstock: 3-1/4” x 7”, scored at 3-1/4” and 3-3/4”
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 3” x 3”
  • Penguin Place DSP (striped pattern): 2-7/8” x 2-7/8”
  • Penguin Place DSP (snowflake pattern): 2” x 2”
  • Fussy-cut the fox from DSP, stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Just Jade Cardstock and trim around the edges
  • Just Jade Gold Ribbon and Pearls
  • Post-it Notes
I hope you enjoyed these projects today! Please continue along on the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop to check out more awesome creative inspiration.
