Rainbow of Happiness for PP587

Happy Sunday and Happy Easter, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the lovely Claire is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge
It’s Clean-and-Simple week and Claire has a fun “April Showers” theme for us! There are so many possibilities for the challenge. I hope this creative challenge inspires you to join us and share your project this week.

When I saw the April Showers theme, I immediately thought of rainbows! There is something so magical about seeing a rainbow after a storm. I decided to use the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Brilliant Rainbows Dies from the Stampin’ Up!® January - June Mini Catalog. This is one of my favorite sets in that catalog and I have used it a LOT.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
As always with Clean-and-Simple week, I had to keep reminding myself to dial it back a bit. Every month, I feel like I’m “embracing my inner CAS” more and more. I’m not quite at the point of making a one layer card (without significant angst anyway) but I’ve come a long way. Haha! I wanted the rainbow colors to pop, so I used Pool Party in the background along with an itty bitty polka dot print from the Pattern Party Host Exclusive Designer Series Paper. I thought it kind of resembled tiny sprinkles of raindrops, so I went with it.

I wanted to add some ribbon to the card but a bow just felt too heavy. I opted for a simple faded over piece of sheer ribbon being the focal image layer. It’s the perfect amount of texture. I also added a tiny pop of sparkle on the clouds using the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper and finished the card with a trio of Pool Party rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels. There is also fun surprise inside…keep reading for that!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Pool Party Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive): 4-1/8” x 5-3/8’
  • Pool Party Sheer Ribbon and Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Pool Party Cardstock: 3-1/8” x 2-3/8”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3” x 2-1/4”, die cut the rainbow using the Brilliant Rainbow Dies
  • Flirty Flamingo, Pale Papaya, Soft Sea Foam & Pool Party Cardstock: scraps to die cur the rainbows using the Rainbow Builder Dies, save all of the pieces from the rainbows to have one set for the front and one set to place inside the card
  • Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper: cut two sets of clouds using the Brilliant Rainbow Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/2” x 3/8”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive, inside card): 4” x 1-1/4”, only place adhesive around the edges to create the gift card pocket
Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I decided to make a gift card holder, as I always seem to need them. It’s so easy to make a little “pocket” from the DSP by simply adding the adhesive around the edges. I wanted to bring more color inside the card, so I used some of the leftover rainbow die cuts from the front of the card in the top corner. That sentiment is so perfect to add to a gift card holder, too. Shopping always brightens my day, how about you?

Rainbow of Happiness for PP576

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne is hosting our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
My Tic-Tac-Toe Selection: Rainbow - Sparkle - Die Cut

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges are so much fun to get your creative mojo going. So many choices! That top row caught my eye immediately. I mean, how could I say no to rainbows AND sparkle?

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
I can’t say enough how much I LOVE the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Brilliant Rainbow Dies in the Stampin’ Up!® January - June Mini Catalog! For my card, I decided to use the really big rainbow die as the focal image. I just love a big, bold image and this one really delivers. I paper pieced the fun striped pattern from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP which can be earned for FREE right now with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration. I won’t even tell you how many packs of this paper I own. It’s awesome! And how about those sparkly clouds? I punched them out of the new Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper

I popped the sentiment die cuts from the Layering Circles Dies. I had intended for it to look like a sun, but the Bermuda Bay layer kept throwing me off. So I added some Bumblebee Gingham Trim behind the circles for more color and some added texture. The Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels were the perfect finishing touch, too. I feel like I’m using these on every card I make lately and I’m not even sorry about it. Haha!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Bermuda Bay Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, die cut with the Brilliant Rainbow Dies
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (Sale-A-Bration): 3” x 4-3/4”, die cut with the Brilliant Rainbow Dies and paper piece the striped pattern into the Basic White layer
  • Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper: punch out two clouds using the Cloud Punch
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut a 1-7/8” circle from the Layering Circles Dies, stamp sentiment and two sets of hearts in Melon Mambo ink
  • Bermuda Bay Cardstock: scrap to die cut a 2” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels & Bumblebee Gingham Trim
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp the sentiment and two sets of hearts in Melon Mambo ink
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (SAB, inside card): 1/2” x 5-1/4
Finally, here is look inside the card. I simply added a small strip of the same DSP I used for the rainbow and a coordinating sentiment. Such a fun card to pop in the mail to a friend to let them know you are thinking about them.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Tic-Tac-Toe ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday February 4th, 2022

*On a Personal Note: If you have followed me for any length of time you have probably seen my handsome kitty, Benjamin Maxwell. We adopted him from a shelter in North Dakota back in   2007 when he was about 7 months old. For almost 15 years, this guy blessed our home with his awesome personality and affectionate disposition. At almost 24 pounds, he knew how to make an entrance and would never leave your side if he knew you had a brush or some treats.

About a month ago, I discovered a mass on his chin and brought him to the vet. He had also lost a very significant amount of weight despite continuing to eat well. We decided that because of his age, to just keep an eye on it for a little while as his bloodwork looked good and overall there were no changes in his behaviors. Over the past week, things changed considerably and the mass had doubled in size.
The mass had also spread into his mouth and we were very worried that it was becoming too painful for him to eat. On Thursday, I brought him into the vet and we made the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to my beautiful boy. I know in my heart that he had a wonderful life with us and it was the right decision. It has been an incredibly tough couple of days though.

Rest peacefully my sweet boy, you are so very loved and dearly missed.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a HAPPY day today!

-Anne Marie
