Freshly Made Mashup Snowflake

Hi there! Happy, HAPPY Friday to you! Who is excited for the weekend? Today, I wanted to share a card I made inspired by two different challenges. I really needed a stampin' "kick in the pants" today and these completely did the trick.

First up, I love this week's fabby sketch over at {Freshly Made} Sketches
Then I saw the Friday Mashup challenge and I was inspired to get some sparkly snowflake jingle ON:
For this one, we were asked to make a snowflake-themed project and could "mash it up" with an easel card design. Whoot whoot, I LOVE easel cards! Click HERE to check out a great tutorial on how to make one.
I dug out some retired felt snowflakes from my stampin' stash and was determined to use them on this one. The only problem was that the red snowflakes didn't match the Cherry Cobbler color in the Christmas Lane DSP (from the Simply Scrapping kit) I was using. No worries, a sponge and some Cherry Cobbler ink and they were magically matched and perfectly coordinated! Glimmer Paper made a triumphant return on this card, too. I can't get enough of that pretty sparkle! All the products used are listed at the end of this post, if you are interested. :)
Here is a quick peek at the inside of the card. I used Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder to give some added detail and shine to both sentiments on the card.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having an awesome day today! I'm off to clean up the FLURRY of a mess in my craft room...eeek!

Hugs,

Paper Players #67 - Jaydee's Fall Colors

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! This week at The Paper Players, the lovely and talented Jaydee has created a fab Fall color combo to get inspired for the season.
Although, just yesterday, I mentioned how I struggle with the Cajun Craze color. I decided to make amends for this challenge and get my inner- "Cajun Crazy" ON! Lol! I was inspired by the sketch over at Twisted Sketches. This layout was so unique, I really wanted to give it a go!
This card was also very inspired by my fellow Paper Player pal, Nance Leedy.  I used the Floral Fusion Sizzix Die to create the layered flowers and also layered a stamped image behind the sentiment, which is something that Nance does regularly for that extra "wow"-factor to her cards. I love the look! Thanks Nance, you already know I am a huge fan of yours...but this just confirms it! ;)
I used some retired Autumn Spice DSP on this one (as it was already sitting on my desk) because it was a perfect fit for the color combo. I sponged some Cajun Craze ink around all of the edges for some added pop, along with a layer of textured card stock. This card is pretty "bulky", but that's ok. Chunky cards may cost a little more to mail, but they are REALLY fun to open! Ha ha!

Here is quick shot of the decorated inside of the card:
Please stop by and visit the Paper Players Design Team to see what the gals have created with these fabulous colors. Their cards are awesome, as always! We sure hope you will play along this week with YOUR creation, too!

Our Creative Corner - Fall Color Challenge

Hello there and Happy SUPER Saturday to you! :) After a crazy week, I am finally back in creative action and ready to share the latest challenge over at Our Creative Corner. This week, the lovely Lori Rider is our hostess and she has whipped up a fabulous fall color combo to try out.
Now, I will be the first to admit, that ANY color combo with Cajun Craze tends to scare me a little. I don't really know WHY but that color and I just tend to disagree with each other. It's not quite orange, it's kind of rusty...I just never seem to reach for this color. So, this was a bit of a challenge for me, indeed. I also couldn't figure out how to sneak that Pool Party in with all of these rich autumn colors. Gah! After deciding on the Day of Gratitude stamp set, I thought I would add the color as a shadow around the "falling" leaves. It didn't seem like quite enough, so I decided to tie it in with another layer. You can never have TOO many layers, right?

I unearthed some (ret.) Autumn Spice DSP for this one and updated it with the Houndstooth embossing folder for added texture. It's a fairly clean card, but those leaves are so pretty on their own, I didn't want them to get lost in an overly "busy" card. I added a pop of pearls and some ribbon to finish it off.
Hop on over to Our Creative Corner to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with this cool color combo. They really created some GREAT projects this week, as always. (...because they are awesome!) We sure hope you will play along with us. We can't wait to see what you do with the colors!

Thanks SO much for visiting! Have a very HAPPY day today! :)

Featured Designer for Freshly Made Sketches

Hello there and Happy Wednesday to you! I feel like I have been MIA from my blog for a wee bit too long. Lots going on here but ALL good things, so that is a bonus. Just trying to catch up this week. I am SO excited to share with you that I was invited, by my sweet friend,  Lesley Croghan, to be a Featured Designer for her new challenge blog:

I love the concept of "clean" cards and didn't truly realize how MUCH until I created my card for this challenge.

So what does FMS mean by a "clean card"? According to Lesley: "We are looking for clean-lined creations but unlike Clean and Simple challenges, we encourage lots of detail and embellishments as long as they maintain a "clean" look to your card."
So, here is my interpretation of this fabulous sketch. Although I centered the main panel on the card, because it seemed to fit better within the lines of the plaid DSP and ribbon. This card also marks the return of my infatuation (read as obsession) with the Button Buddies stamp set. :) I paired it up with some punched flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and some Bitty Buttons for dimension. It's an "itty bitty bouquet" of cuteness! I also really love the Domestic Goddess DSP that I ripped into for the first time with this card. Totally makes me a fan of Calypso Coral! (Which is a good thing because we weren't really getting along up until now, lol!)

Although tough to see in the main photo, this card has a lot of dimension to it. Each layer is built up with some Stampin' Dimensionals. I finished it off with some Basic Pearls and a ruffled bow. The sentiment is simple and can be used for a variety of occasions.
Please stop by Freshly Made Sketches to see what all of the excitement is about. Their Design Team pretty much ROCKS the house and I know they have created some wonderful "eye-candy" for inspiration. (Hugs, ladies!!) Hope you have a chance to play along this week, too!

Have a HAPPY day! :)
