Sweet Soirée Birthday Swap

Hello stamping friends! Today I wanted to share a fun fold birthday card with you. This fold is called a “Z-Fold” and it has been around for quite a while. I wouldn’t even know who to give credit to for creating it, but thank you to the person who did because it’s pretty cool! I’ve shared the measurements below in case you would like to make one as well.

For my card, I wanted to use some products from the Occasions Catalog that have been a little neglected in my stamp studio. I paired the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set with the gorgeous Sweet Soirée Specialty DSP. All of the paper in that pack is foiled on one side which makes it extra fancy.

Another item that I think is completely underrated in the Occasions Catalog is the Sweet Soirée Embellishment kit. There are SO many items in the kit, including lots of die cuts (vellum, numbers and some with foil detail), ribbon, washi tape, clothes pins, tassels. I used the floral die cuts on my card. They have gorgeous foiled accents on them and (at first glance kind) of look like you stamped, colored and fussy cut them out. So easy and so beautiful!
Here are the measurements for the card:
  • Marina Mist base: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 2-1/8" and 4-1/4"
  • Powder Pink layer: 4" x 5-1/4”
  • Berry Burst layer under DSP: 3” x 5”
  • Sweet Soiree DSP layer: 2-3/4” x 4-3/4”
  • Berry Burst layer under sentiment: 2-1/4” x 3-1/4”
  • Whisper White for sentiment: 2” x 3
  • Whisper White inside card: 4” x 5-14”
One thing I am ALL about right now is decorating the insides of my cards. I love adding a little more detail other than just the sentiment. Since this fold really allows you to showcase the inside of the card as well, I used quite a few of the stamps from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set along with the silver washi tape from the Sweet Soirée Embellishment Kit. Did I mention how much I like that kit?
I liked this card so much I decided to use it for one of my team swaps this month! The only thing I really changed was how I tied the ribbon. I found the bow made the card a little tough to mail and the simple knot corrected that. Plus it was a lot easier to knot the ribbon when producing 10 of these cards. I actually made 2 different cards this month for our team swap. I’ll be sharing the other one really soon!
I hope you enjoyed my card today! All of the products I used to create the card are listed below. You can click on any of those products to purchase them at my online Stampin’ Up! store. I’m probably going to pick up another one of those Sweet Soirée Embellishment Kits myself. :) Also, don’t forget that this is the LAST week for Sale-A-Bration where you can earn free product with your qualifying order. Have a HAPPY day!

Heartfelt Blooms and Basket Weave Wishes

Hello there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. Today I wanted to share a card with you that is a little different than my usual style. I tend to gravitate toward bright colors and patterns a lot of the time, so I’ve really been trying to challenge myself to step out of that zone a little more regularly. Usually I end up creating quite a mess in my craft studio but it’s always a lot of fun.

This week over at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge they have a “Card Maker’s Choice” theme. This card uses a lot of my favorite products at the moment, so I thought I’d play along. Check it out!
I wanted to showcase a few of the products from the Stampin’ Up Sale-A-Bration promotion because there is just a little over a month left to earn some crafty goodies for free with qualifying purchases. You can see all of the items available by clicking HERE and HERE. The Heartfelt Blooms stamp set and Shimmer Ribbon pack are Level One items and the Basket Weave embossing folder is part of the Blossoming Basket Bundle that is a Level 2 item. Send me a message if you’d like to learn more about this promotion: annemariehile@gmail.com.

There is a little bit of distressing on this card. I took my Crumb Cake ink pad and ran it along the inside of the Basket Weave embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot. It adds a lot of extra detail to the embossed image and then you can just run the embossing folder under water to clean it off. Easy! I also took a sponge with Crumb Cake ink to add some shading around most of the layers and also that little peek of paper doily trim.
To add he little “speckles” on the images, I used a Stampin’ Up Marker in Crumb Cake. You just hold the cap of the marker in one hand and the marker in the other. Then, holding it over your paper, gently “flick” the tip of the marker toward the paper. You can control how heavy or light you want the “speckles” by how close you hold your marker to the paper. I usually recommend starting with a light touch. You can always add more but you can’t remove any if you go in with a heavy hand. Ha!

The sentiment comes from the Barn Door stamp set, which is one I have not really played around with yet. Finally I added a couple of pearl embellishments and the shimmery ribbon to finish it off. It took me a little longer than usual to create but I do like the end result. I hope you do as well!

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ve linked all of the products I used on my card below. If you click on the photos, it will take you directly to my online store. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Enjoy your day! :)

Dare to Dream Rainbow

Hello and Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying your day so far. It’s pretty gloomy here today so I thought it was a perfect day to share a bright and cheery card. One of my favorite products in the Occasions Catalog are the Rainbow Builder Framelits. There is also a coordinating stamp set that can be purchased as a bundle. Super cute!

I just love how easy it is to create a fun scene on your card by layering the clouds. It’s a little tough to see in the photo but the first cloud layer on the card is Shimmery White cardstock, the middle layer is vellum and the layer with the sentiment is Whisper White. There are a lot of Stampin' Dimensionals between the layers to make them pop. Of course, I had to add some sparkle and that’s where the Glimmer Paper clouds came in.
I decided to go with subtle colors for my rainbow but it would also be fun to use a more bold and bright color palette. I used the sentiment and the little cloud stamp from the Dare to Dream stamp set because I thought it paired perfectly with the card. The smaller parts of the sentiment are heat embossed for a little extra detail. That stamp set is an exclusive Hostess set and can be purchased with a qualifying order.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! You can purchase any of the products I used on my card from my online store by clicking on the photos below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message: annemariehile@gmail.com.

Enjoy you day!
