Spooktacular Bash for PP460

Hello and Happy Sunday! This week at The Paper Players, the lovely and talented Claire is our challenge hostess and she has a fun Sketch Challenge for us. There is a little twist to the sketch, which I love.

As you can see, we are shaking things up a bit with “tall and skinny” cards this week.

So fun!

My card measures 4” x 6”, so I didn’t goo too crazy in either the tall or skinny direction. However, you can see that with just those tiny modifications to the measurements, it looks taller and more narrow, so I’m going with it.

For an envelope, I would probably have to make one custom-sized or in a pinch, it would fit in a regular “business sized” envelope.The envelope would be a bit longer than the card, but it would still be able to go in the mail just fine.

Color Combo:

For my card, I used the Spooktacular Bash Bundle, which has a great Halloween themed stamp set and the fabulous coordinating Ornate Frames Dies. You can see, the dies not only cut out the framed image of little Dracula (who kind of resembles Eddie Munster, doesn’t he?) but also the detailed frame behind the stamped image and also the dies that the sentiment is stamped on.

I also used the Stitched Shapes Dies (Pumpkin Pie circle) and the Layering Circles Dies (Black Foil circle) behind the stamped image to make him pop a little more. The little stitched scallop detail around the Monster Bash DSP comes from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. I use that little scalloped edge a LOT. I think it adds great detail.

Little Count Dracula here makes me smile. I colored him in with my Stampin’ Blends Markers and thought maybe adding a little red to his eyes might make him more scary. Turns out, he’s still kind of cute and now he just looks really tired. Haha! So, I added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to his cape and the detailed frame behind him to glitz him up a little. Why not?

For some added details, I used the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder for the background and stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat embossed it using the Shimmer White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then, I colored a few rhinestones with my Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends Marker for a final sparkly detail.

Basic Black Card Base - 6” x 8”
On 8” side, score at 4”
Pumpkin Pie Cardstock - 3-3/4” x 5-3/4”
Crumb Cake Cardstock (embossed with Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder) - 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
Monster Bash Designer Series Paper - 2” x 5-1/2”
Scraps of Black Foil, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White cardstock for stamping and die cuts
Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 3-3/4” x 5-3/4”
Monster Bash Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-2/4”

Here is a quick peek inside the card with a coordinating sentiment and more of that fun DSP. Look closely at those little bottles in the paper. I absolutely love the “scrap of book” and “card of stock” labels on those little bottles. So stinking cute!

Here’s to Strong Women for FF0043

Hello and Happy Friday to you! It’s time for another fun challenge over on the Festive Friday blog. For this challenge, our festivity is National Stop Bullying Day, which is on Oct 9th. How do you play along? Use the Inspo List (below) of 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE (or more) of the items in your project and link up! The project does NOT have to focus on the festivity itself, just the elements in the list. Easy, right?

I’m loving our new Inspo List for the challenges and I hope you are as well. It’s such a great way to get the creativity going! For my card, I used the following as my inspiration: Encouragement - Blue - Orange - Stars - Superheros. The list made it really easy to pick a stamp set, color combo and embellishment to work with. I love that!

Color Combo:

I knew I wanted to use the Here’s to Strong Women stamp set because the sentiments are super encouraging and let’s be honest, we all can use a little more of that in our lives, right? I was having a little bit of a struggle coming up with a layout though. So, I looked to Stampin’ Up to see ideas with this stamp set. Well, I loved the layout they shared so much I decided to CASE it with some different colors and elements.

This card comes together pretty easily. I used the Stitched Stars Dies to cut out stars in various sizes in Sparkle Glimmer Paper, because everything is better with a touch of sparkle. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a Lovely Lipstick Stitched Nested Labels Die. Then I embossed the word “superpower” on a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and cut it out and popped it up to make it stand out a little more. To add the white “border” on either side of the Stitched Nested Label, I simply cut another one out in the same size, cut it in half and popped that little edge out on either side. Super easy, yet a fun detail.

For the background, I used the star stamp in the set to randomly stamp the image throughout, some of the images were stamped-off once to make them a little lighter.
