Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop - August 2023

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I am SO excited to share my project with you for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. We are an awesome group of stampers from all over the world who come together on the second Wednesday of every month to share some creative inspiration and smiles from around the globe. You will definitely want to visit everyone to see their amazing projects. We hope you enjoy hopping along with us this month!

If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, I’m Anne Marie Hile from San Antonio, TX and I am so happy that you are visiting today. Welcome!

August Theme: “Never Grow Up”

There are SO many different ways to interpret the theme for this hop. I was inspired to create a card for my friend’s sweet daughter. She is about to embark on the journey into middle school in the upcoming school year and she’s just a little (ok, a LOT) nervous about this new endeavor. She is just the most kind and gentle kiddo and I know this is really taking her out of her comfort zone.

I wanted to make a card for her for the first day of school later this month. We want her to know she has lots of support and encouragement on this new adventure. She also has friends in her corner who are cheering her on every step of the way! We ALL need a cheering section, right? Dave and I will be dropping this off with some back-to-school snacks in a couple weeks on her big day. She adores our dog Gidget Louise, so she’ll be there too! :-)

*I’ve also shared all of the card measurements below along with a full supply list at the end of this post.
Color Combo
I recently ordered the Everyday Thanks stamp set and the little pencils were PERFECT for this card! Coloring them with Stampin’ Blends really brings those pencils to life, right? I paired them up with sentiments from the By My Side stamp set and went with a bright and happy color combo. I aded some Wink of Stella to the erasers because life is simply better with more sparkle!

I mixed up the patterns from both the Zany Zoo Designer Series Paper and Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper. I love the notebook pattern and the scalloped pattern reminds me of a chalkboard. So fun with this Back-to-School vibe, right?

I added some Black & White Gingham Trim and some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to “accessorize" and there you have it!

Card Measurements & Details:
  • Poppy Parade Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8”
  • Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper: 2-1/2” x 4-/4”
  • Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper: 2-1/2” x 4-1/4”
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock: scrap to cut largest circle from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap for stamping pencils
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 2-1/4” x 3/4’, stamp and heat emboss sentiment in white, trim ends at an angle
  • Basic Black (card interior): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White (card interior): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper (card interior): 3/4” x 3-7/8”

Finally, just a little close-up of the inside of the card! I added the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the By My Side stamp set and left lots of room to write a handwritten note to cheer this little lady on!

I hope you enjoyed my card today! From here, you will hop on over to Tricia Butt’s blog. Click the button below to check out her beautiful project.

Super Cool Strawberries for PP652

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Claire is hosting our Theme Challenge.
Well, if this isn’t a most appropriate challenge for the week, I don’t know what is. Summer is in full swing here in south Texas and we have just getting blasted with 100 degree temperatures since about mid-June. We are supposed to get a break this Wednesday. 99 degrees! Wahoo, party time!

Claire’s “Hot Fun in the Summertime” Theme Challenge is a fun one to play along with, whether you are melting in the heat, enjoying the beach or simply staying inside with your BFF the air conditioner. I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared measurements and a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo
One of my favorite things about summer is visiting all of the local Farmer’s Markets for fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, honey and more. Nothing beats farm-to-table and this is the best time of year to enjoy all of the delicious gifts from nature. Last week, I picked up the MOST delicious locally-grown strawberries at the market and they were the inspiration for this card.  Yes, they were THAT good!

I started out with the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper with the super-cute strawberry pattern and built my card from there. Those itty-bitty berries are the perfect combo with the So Refreshing Dies. I’ve been using those strawberries a lot lately…they are just too cute! I gave the berries a dusting of Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for that fresh and dewy glow. I decided to use the little rectangle from the Scalloped Contours Dies for my sentiment because it kind or reminded me of a little basket or placemat for the berries. Searching for just the right sentiment came to a stop with the Super Cool stamp set. I just recently ordered this set and I LOVE the fun retro font.

It’s tough to see in the photo but I did add a layer of Garden Green to the card base that was embossed with the Raindrops Embossing Folder. It’s just a little added detail that definitely shows up better when the card is in front of you. I added it with a little wish for some much needed rain…we’ll see how that goes. Haha!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Garden Green Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Garden Green Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”, embossed with Raindrops Embossing Folder
  • Bubble Bath Cardstock: 3-3/4” x 5”  (2 pieces - 1 for card front and 1 for card interior)
  • Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper: 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”
  • Garden Green Cardstock: scrap to die-cut second smallest scalloped Rectangle from Scalloped Contours Dies
  • Bubble Bath Cardstock: 2-3/4” x 1-1/4”
  • Garden Green and Calypso Coral Cardstock: scraps to die cut strawberries from So Refreshing Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”
  • Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper (card interior): 3-/4” x 4-7/8”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added some more layers to compliment the front along with a little strip of that adorable Designer Series Paper. I left the rest blank for room to pen a handmade note.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our fab “Hot Fun in the Summertime” Theme ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday August 11th, 2023
