Christmas Classics

Hello Crafting Friends!
Today, I’m sharing my festive project for the October FAB Instahop

Our theme this month is “Favorite Christmas Carol:.

This was a tough one to decide on because I do enjoy some Christmas music. I have a lot of favorites. I would have to say “Deck the Halls” always brings a smile to my face though. There is something about holiday decorating that just signals the start of the season. I love getting out all of the holiday decor every year. We put up multiple trees and its always an adventure to try to untangle all of the lights. HaHa! But I love transforming our home into a winter wonderland. ’Tis the Season!

FAB creative inspiration.

For my card, I used the Christmas Classics stamps and dies from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. Just like it’s name implies, this set is destined to be a classic favorite for the holidays. I just love mix of fonts on the timeless sentiments inspired by classic Christmas songs and the dies have a wonderful assortment of greenery and labels to create gorgeous holiday projects.

The Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper in this suite is also pretty fabulous with lovely patterns of florals, foliage, woodgrain texture and plaids. If you have visited me before, you might know that I often love making holiday cards in non-traditional colors. But there is just something about that traditional red and green combo that is always perfect to celebrate the season.

I was inspired to design my card using the awesome layout this week over at Freshly Made Sketches. You can never go wrong with a good card sketch and this is a great challenge to get to get those creative wheels turning. The team always shares such awesome inspiration, too.

This sketch was perfect to add lots of lovely layers which is always a good thing in my book. It’s a little tough to see in the photos, but the white layer is embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. The musical notes just add to the holiday cheer.  I heat embossed the sentiment for some added shine and also added some snowy detail by dusting and flicking white craft ink around the Real Red layer.

There are lots of little details on this one, so I’ve listed all of the supplies I used on the card at the very end of this post.

Finally a peek inside the card. I simply added a strip of Designer Series Paper and a coordinating sentiment to keep the Christmas spirit going from the front of the card. I love how this one came together and I hope you do as well!
