Floral Essence for FF0044

Hello and Happy Friday to you! It’s time for another fun challenge over on the Festive Friday blog. For this challenge, our festivity is Boss’ Day, which is on Oct 16th. How do you play along? Use the Inspo List (below) of 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE (or more) of the items in your project and link up! The project does NOT have to focus on the festivity itself, just the elements in the list. Easy, right?
To get started on my card, the focused on the following items on the Inspo List: Thank You/For You - Flowers - Metallics. I guess technically this would also be appropriate for a Boss’ Day card, as well. That sentiment from the Country Home stamp set is one of my favorites. It is so perfect for a variety of occasions.

Color Combo:

When I got started making this card, I wanted to use more of a rich and neutral color combo to make the gold heat embossed details stand out a little bit more. I’m usually more of a “brights” gal when it comes to colors, so I wasn’t too sure about the colors at first. I do really like how it turned out though.
This card features a variety of stamps, punches and dies. I recently ordered the Birch background stamp and was super-excited to use it on this card. I stamped the image in Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla Cardsrtock and then sponged a little ink around the edges for a distressed detail.

The flowers (Floral Essence set) and sentiment (Country Home set) were heat embossed in gold. I popped in a few leafy accents from the Bouquet Bunch dies, then added a few pearls and a simple bow. The heat embossing is really the star of the card though.

Card Measurements:
  • Merry Merlot Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Early Espresso Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Scraps of Merry Merlot, Early Espresso and Mossy Meadow Cardstock for die cuts and punches

There you have it, a sweet card to share with someone special. The embossing really adds a lot of extra detail to this card. I left the inside of the card blank to add a handwritten note.

Hop on over to the Festive Friday blog to see what the rest of the Design Team shared this week. We’d love to have you join us with your project! The challenge is open from today through Monday October 14th at 8:00 PM CST, so you have plenty of time to play along.

Floral Essence and a New Catalog

Hello there, stamping friends. Today is a very exciting day y’all. The wait is over, it’s new catalog launch day! It’s always so much fun when new products are released. So many new stamp sets, it’s tough to decide which ones to buy first. Don’t even get me started on the beautiful new In Colors and all the new paper and embellishments. This catalog is one of my favorites, for sure!

To celebrate the new catalog, here is a card I created using one of the new product suites: Perennial Essence. This site features the beautiful Floral Essence stamp set with the coordinating Perennial Flower Punch. You can buy them both together in a bundle for 10% off! The stamp set also coordinates with the Leaf Punch that carried over from last years catalog. One stamp set, two coordinating punches…yes, please!

I also incorporated 2 additional punches on this card, the Banner Triple Punch for the sentiment and also the 1/2” Circle Punch for the center of the flowers. First, I stamped the center of the flowers and although the 1/2” Circle punch is just a wee bit larger than the stamped image, I added on some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to snazz it up a little bit. Glitter always makes everything more fun!
I’m excited to share my card over at the Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge. I was really inspired by all of those beautiful floral images in the photo. I actually have a couple of other cards in mind from these images, as well. Their challenge is open though July 17th, so check it out!

Today’s Colors:

Another product featured in the Perennial Essence Suite is 12” x 12” Vellum Cardstock in Old Olive, So Saffron and Petal Pink. Swoon! I used the vellum on the punched leaves and also cut a stitched scalloped border (Be Mine Stitched Framelits) for a soft detail. There are lots of Stampin’ Dimensionals on the flowers, leaves and the banner for dimension on the card as well. I always say, you can never use TOO many Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a tiny pop of the Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon behind one of the flowers. I cut a 3-3/4” piece of ribbon, folded it in half and tucked it behind the flower. Sometimes that little peek of ribbon adds just the right detail instead of a big, fluffy bow.

 Card Measurements:
  • So Saffron Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Layered Leaves Embossing Folder) - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Perennial Essence DSP - 1-1/2” x 5-1/8”
  • Perennial Essence Vellum Cardstock (cut with scallop trim from Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies) - 1/2” x 5-1/8”
  • So Saffron (stamped sentiment, punched with Banner Triple Punch) - 3/4” x 3”
  • Scraps of Petal Pink, So Saffron and Perennial Essence Old Olive Vellum Cardstock for stamped/punched flowers and leaves
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Perennial Essence DSP (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
Finally, here is a little peek inside the card. I figured the sentiment on the front could work for either a wedding or an anniversary (or possibly retirement) so I just figured I’d add the appropriate sentiment or words when I needed the card for the occasion.
