Picture Perfect Birthday Mash-Up for Facebook Live

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share the projects I featured on my weekly Facebook Live video. I usually go Live on Thursday’s at 2:30pm CST, but this week I was under the weather and went Live on Friday. Thanks for being patient with me y’all!

This week, I wanted to focus on the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. I often find that I tend to focus on the Holiday Catalog at this time of the year, so I dialed it back to the Annual Catalog and want wanted to show how easy it was to blend stamp sets and product suites together. 

My first card was inspired by me sweet friend Laurie. Also, I can’t stop using this happy color combo of Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Mango Melody. 

Ok, I’ll give it a rest…I promise. :) 

For my second card, I wanted to “fancy to up” with the Petal Promenade DSP and some snazzy gold accents. Same stamp set, totally different look. 

My third card used the same stamp set paired with the Balloon Celebration stamp set and coordinating punch. The scalloped trim from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and Striped Scallops Embossing Folder were meant to accent the balloons.

Petal Palette and Shimmer Paints

It’s Tuesday and I hope your week is off to a great start! I’m back with another card featuring techniques using Shimmer paints from my Facebook Live Video that I shared last Friday. In that video, I shared 7 different techniques to use with the new Shimmer Paints that will be coming out in the Stampin’ Up! ® Holiday Catalog on September 5th (tomorrow). There are 4 colors of Shimmer Paint in the catalog: Frost White, Champagne Mist, Vegas Gold and Bright Copper. My card today features the the 3rd and 4th of seven techniques from the video. I hope you enjoy it!

One of the ways I used Shimmer paints in the video was to simply add some sparkly detail to your Designer Series papers. To do this, you will need a Stampin’ Spritzer bottle, filled with rubbing alcohol. Then add a couple drops of Shimmer paint to the bottle and make sure you shake it up really well to get that sparkle mixed up. Then spritz a couple times on your DSP. Easy peasy! I then ran my sparkly piece of Nature’s Poem DSP though the Big Shot with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for a little more texture. 

Another technique I shared in the video was applying Shimmer Paints directly to your inked up stamp. In the video I did this with a Christmas sentiment but I thought it would be fun to include that technique on this card as well…because why not cover two techniques in one blog post, right? I inked up the image from Petal Palette in Tranquil Tide ink and then using a Sponge Dauber, lightly added some Shimmer Paint over the ink, and stamped on my cardstock. It’s like creating your own “glitter ink pad.” I did the same thing but lightly in the centers of the trio of fussy-cut flowers. I hadn’t used this set in a while and I thought it paired nicely with the pattern on the DSP. 

You do have to remember to clean your stamps REALLY well before inking up again so you don’t get Shimmer paint in your ink pad. I either rinse the stamp off in water or use a wet paper towel to clean them as opposed to a Shammy or a Stampin’ Scrub, so the glitter doesn’t get stuck in there either.  It is a little extra work, but I think the result is beautiful.

• Tranquil Tide Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” 
• Crumb Cake Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4” 
• Natures Poem DSP  - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8” 
• Crumb Cake Cardstock - 1-1/4” x 5-1/8” 
• Tranquil Tide Cardstock - 2-1/2” x 4"
• Whisper White Cardstock (for stamped image) - 2-1/4” x 3-3/4”
