Waterfront for PP647

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, LeAnne is hosting our Theme Challenge.
Can you believe it’s already July? I feel like this year is going by so quickly. Summer is in full swing here in Texas with triple digit temps, so LeAnne’s “At the Beach” Theme Challenge was perfect. Even though I won’t actually be AT the beach until later on this month, this challenge had me dreaming of ocean waves and sandy toes right now! I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
As I was perusing my shelves to see what stamps I had for the theme, I stopped on the Waterfront stamp set. I’ve had this set for quite a while and it’s never seen an ink pad. Can you believe it? I’m always a little intimidated with watercolor images, I don’t know why. I think the layering of these images scared me but they were actually pretty easy stamp together. I got this image on the second try, which is a pretty big deal around here. Haha!

I stamped the scene on a Deckled Rectangle Die and added some texture to the Crumb Cake background with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. It has a cool sandy texture in-person.

For the “sky”…I initially stamped the entire image in Daffodil Delight, then added Pumpkin Pie ink to the stamp with a Sponge Dauber. I didn’t realize how heavy-handed I was with the ink but I really liked how the dauber made the background look like clouds, so I just went with it. In the words of Bob Ross: “We don’t have mistakes, we have happy accidents.” :-)
The sentiment on this card comes from the Let’s Go Shopping stamp set. It really works perfectly for this card, right. Honestly, hadn't been sitting on the corner of my desk from last week’s challenge, I probably never would have never thought to look at this set for a sentiment.

I used the All That Dies to cut out the sentiment and added a “faux” Linen Thread bow for some more texture. Finally, I added a trio of Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels for a subtle accent. These are my favorite embellishments when I can’t decide on an embellishment. They aren’t too much, they just give a tiny pop of detail, which I love. I really like how this card came together and I hope you do as well.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our ”At the Beach” Theme ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 7th, 2023

Positive Inkers Blog Hop - July 2023

Hello Stamping Friends! I’m thrilled to join the fabulous Positive Inkers Design Team for our July 2023 Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the globe who are super-excited to share our love of creativity. I’m so happy you stopped by today!

If this is the fist time you are visiting, please let me introduce myself. My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in San Antonio, Texas. Welcome!
Our theme for this month is: FLORAL

I have to admit, it was tough to decide what I wanted to use for my project. Lots of fabulous florals to love in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. By nature, I always seem to want to reach for the newest stamp sets to create with. I always have to remind myself that there are SO many fantastic products that may have carried over into the catalog, but haven’t been used nearly enough. Anyone else?

As I was rifling through my supplies trying to get my plan going for this card, I stopped on the Artistic Dies. The big, bold floral die is one of my favorites and makes a really awesome focal image on a card. It’s tough to tell in the photos but I cut the floral image out of Berry Burst Soft Shimmer Paper.  This paper has a subtle shimmer and adds some great detail to a card without being overly sparkly. I guess that can be such a thing. Or so I’m told. Haha! ;-)

*I’ve listed details for my projects below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
The color combo for this card just makes me happy! Berry Burst is a color that an do no wrong, in my opinion. Paired with Bubble Bath…it’s a lovely match. On the Bubble Bath layer, I used a Blending Brush to add some Bubble Bath ink for soft shading. Then I stamped a few “drops” on the layer with the dotted image from the Layering Leaves stamp set. It’s subtle but looks pretty cool in person.

I also embossed the front layer for some added texture using the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. The heat embossed sentiment really pops with the fun color combo, too. Finally, since no card is ever complete without some accessories…I added some silver trim and Iridescent Basic Pearls. I have the perfect person in mind to send this card to!
I hope you enjoyed my project today and that you are inspired to create with your favorite florals, too! Please stop by to visit everyone on the hop and leave us a comment to say hello. We’d all love to hear from you and so appreciate you stopping by. If you are following the hop, my sweet friend Jo Blackman in the UK is your next destination.
