February 2021 - Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop

Hello stamping friends! Today, I am SO excited to share my project with you for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. We are an awesome group of stampers from all over the world who come together on the second Wednesday of every month to share some creative inspiration and smiles from around the globe. You will definitely want to visit everyone to see their amazing projects. We hope you enjoy hopping along with us this month!

If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, I’m Anne Marie Hile from San Antonio, TX and I am so happy that you are visiting today. Welcome!
Our theme for the hop this month is “You’ve Got Mail”, specifically with the focus on the INSIDE of the card. Now, if you have visited me before you know I’m a HUGE fan of “keeping the party going" to the inside of the card when I design. Since the focus for this hop was the “inside” of the card, I decided to share a Double Z-Fold card, kind of amped up a bit with lots of extra layers and details. This is truly a card that carries all of the details from the front through the inside. This card was NOT a “quick" card to create, but those REALLY special people in your life deserve a card made with lots of love, right?

*I’ve also shared all of the card measurements below along with a full supply list at the end of this post.
This card has a LOT of added detail, including those “ink splatters”.
I’ll try to do a video on this technique this week
Here is the look at the fun fold, in detail. Lots of layers! If that Fine Art Floral DSP is not on your “must buy” list, add it!
Love the soft colors and pattens in this paper. :)
I added a lot of extra detail by “flicking” some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint onto the background using a paint brush and then heat embossing the detail with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

The floral image was colored and stamped using Stampin’ Write Markers and I also die cut a second image in vellum to place behind the focal image for an added layer. I sponged the vellum on that layer and also the piece of Vellum Doily with Old Olive ink for an added pop of color. I also realized that the little glitter embellishments I used on the card are retired (oops!) but you could easily use rhinestones, pearls or even gold Gilded Gems as a substitution. :)
  • Double Z-Fold Card Measurements and Details:
    • Poppy Parade Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”
    • On the long side, score at 2-3/4” and 5-1/2”
    • Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper (inside of card): 5-1/4” x 4"
    • So Saffron Cardstock (inside of card): 5-3/8” x 4-1/8”
    • Mossy Meadow Cardstock (middle of card): 2-1/2" x 4”, embossed with Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder
    • So Saffron Cardstock (middle of card): 2-5/8” x 4-1/8”
    • Fine Art Floral DSP  (front of card): 2-1/2” x 4”
    • So Saffron Cardstock (front of card): 2-5/8” x 4-1/8"
    • Mossy Meadow Cardstock: 3-1/4” x 9”
    • On the long side, score at 3” and 6”
    • So Saffron Cardstock: 2-7/8” x 3-1/8” (3 pieces)
    • Whisper White Cardstock: 2-3/4 x 3” (2 pieces)
    • Fine Art Floral DSP  (middle of card): 2-3/4” x 3”
Finally, a closer look inside the card. I sprinkled in some of that Shimmer Paint Embossed detail around the flower. This was a fun card to create and I hope you have some fun putting one together, too. Now let’s get hopping, y’all!!

When I get new products, I like to use the project samples in the catalog as a starting point for creative inspiration. There are SO many awesome ideas in the catalog and it’s a fun way to dig into those new products and start using them.

This card is a CASE of a card featured in the new Mini Catalog. So, what does CASE-ing mean? I’ve heard it described two different ways: “Copy-and-Share-Everything” or “Copy-and-Selectively-Edit”. Personaly, I like the second term a little better, because I usually find that I never truly CASE a card EXACTLY. I did add a few more layers and some extra details to it because that’s how I roll. Haha! I did stick with the gorgeous color combo featured in the catalog, which completely made me fall in love with purple. I’ve never really been a “purple fan”, but this card changed that for sure. Now, I’m Team Purple ALL the way!

Color Combo:
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Gorgeous Grape Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Purple Posy Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, sponge Highland Heather ink over polka dot Decorative Mask using Sponge Dauber and emboss using Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper: 1-1/2” x 5-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scraps for stamping and die cutting (sentiment stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink, 3 sets of flowers in Highland Heather / Gorgeous Grape Ink and three sets of leaves in Granny Apple Green Ink)
  • Purple Tri-Color Ribbon and Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I simply added another strip of the Designer Series Paper and a stamped flower. Initially, I was going to add a stamped birthday sentiment, but decided to just leave it blank for a handwritten note.

Once again, you can check out the video for these cards by clicking here: Art Gallery CASE the Catalog Facebook Live.

I will also be doing another Facebook Live on Friday January 1st, 2021 at 4:00pm CST but do plan to do another Live between now and then. So, please “like” and “follow” my Facebook Page to stay updated. I hope you can join me!
