Beautiful Balloons for PP659

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I’m thrilled to be hosting our Sketch Challenge.

Sketch Challenge week is my favorite…and even more when I get to be the host because I also love designing card sketches! It’s probably no shock that I designed this layout with lots of layers, right? I think the sketch would be great to showcase patterned papers, embossing or even to make a statement with layered cardstock. I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Right now, I’m a little smitten with the Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. It’s great with the coordinating holiday suite in the catalog but also perfect for everyday designs, too. This rainbow stripe pattern is one of my favorites in the pack, so I decided to make a bright and cheery birthday card with this week’s sketch.

I created a little bouquet of balloons using the Beautiful Balloons Dies. I cut two balloons from the Melon Mambo & Granny Apple Green Foil Sheets. I LOVE the pop of shine the foil adds. The third balloon was cut from another pattern of DSP. I also brushed some Wink of Stella over the top of the balloon for more sparkle. I mean, go big or go home with a card this bold and bright, right? I added the balloons on some layered die-cut circles. Vellum always adds a little extra detail to a card, don’t you think?

The balloon “strings” were die cut from Silver Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper using the new Merry & Bright Dies. The Glimmer Paper paper is an online exclusive available right now. It comes with both silver and gold shimmer paper and the fact that it already has adhesive on the back makes it a total "must-have" in my book. I heat embossed the sentiment and added some Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs to finish the card. These are one of my favorite new embellishments and the low-profile makes them awesome for mailing.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday September 29th, 2023

Beautiful Balloons for PP645

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Jaydee is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
Ahhh, Clean-and-Simple week, we meet again. I knew would be my biggest challenge of the year…a ONE LAYER CARD! *cue the scary theme music here* This layer-loving gal struggled a bit with this one but I got through it. Even if it did take me 4 sheets of cardstock to get the stamping perfect. Haha! I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I will admit, I struggled a bit to figure out what I wanted to use for this card. I happened to have the Beautiful Balloons stamp set on my desk from my weekly Facebook Friday video tutorial and I thought “If I can only have one layer, I’m going to compensate with some bold images and happy colors!”

And voila, here is how it turned out! I used masking paper to layer the stamped balloons and added some extra pops of color with the In Color Pearls. I like how the colors really stand out on the clean layout, don’t you? :-)

Card Measurements and Details:
  • Thick Basic White Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” - That’s IT!
  • Sweet Sorbet, Starry Sky and Memento inks
  • In Color Pearls and Simply Elegant Trim
Finally, here is a peek inside the card. I simply stamped a coordinating sentiment and another little balloon to keep the party going from the front of the card. Easy peasy and ready to pop in the mail!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our  One Layer Wonder Clean-and-Simple ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday June 23rd, 2023

Positive Inkers Blog Hop - June 2023

Hello Stamping Friends! I’m thrilled to join the fabulous Positive Inkers Design Team for our June 2023 Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the globe who are super-excited to share our love of creativity. I’m so happy you stopped by today!

If this is the fist time you are visiting, please let me introduce myself. My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in San Antonio, Texas. Welcome!
Our theme for this month is: A Sketch Challenge!

If you have visited me before, you know I love a good sketch as a jumping-off point for a card design. There are so many possibilities!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my projects below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Here is the sketch that Sandy created for us to play with this month. My card started out as something completely different. But I just couldn’t get the stamps I was using to cooperate with my idea. Then, I looked at the pile of supplies sitting on the corner of my desk that needed to be put away…and the Beautiful Balloons stamp set and coordinating dies caught my eye.

My die-cut stars were a little bigger than planned, so I flipped the sketch on it’s side and they fit perfectly. I did add a layer just to break up the Designer Series Paper a bit. That’s the beauty of a sketch. Mine may not be identical to the original design, but you can see how the layout inspired my card!
Color Combo:
Let’s talk about the More Dazzle Specialty Paper for a moment. I call it the “disco ball” paper. It comes in two colors, Gold and Champagne. Originally, I was planning to just use cardstock for my stars, but I can never resist the opportunity for sparkle, so here we are. If you don’t have this paper, you NEED it! Trust me, this sparkle will make you happy on a rainy day. Just a little bit on a card makes a big statement.

Of course, I couldn’t neglect the cardstock stars, so they got a dusting of Wink of Stella Glitter Brush so they wouldn’t feel left out. This card is bright, cheery and fun and I hope you love it as much as I do!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Lemon Lime Twist Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Azure Afternoon Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4-1/2” x 3-1/8”, die cut with Deckled Rectangle Dies, then emboss with Basics 3D Embossing Folder
  • More Dazzle Specialty Paper: scrap to die cut (1) large and (1) small star
  • Berry Burst, Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist and Bubble Bath Cardstock - scraps to die-cut stars and tag, accent with Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for added sparkle
  • Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 5-1/4” x 4
  • Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper (card interior): 3/4” x 3-7/8”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I used a leftover scrap of DSP to carry the pattern from the front to the inside of the card. I stamped a coordinating sentiment in Azure Afternoon ink and had two leftover stars that I die-cut and didn’t use on the front. They were a fun finishing touch, don’t you think?

I hope you enjoyed my project today and that you are inspired to create with our awesome sketch as inspiration! Please stop by to visit everyone on the hop and leave us a comment to say hello. We’d all love to hear from you and so appreciate you stopping by. If you are following the hop, my sweet friend Jo Blackman in the UK is your next destination.

We are also doing an Instagram hop today and I’d love to have you check it out. If you aren’t already following me on Instagram, you can find me HERE
