Submarine Life for PP680

Happy Sunday and Happy March, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Jaydee is hosting our  Color Challenge.

Any color combo where pink is in the mix is always a winner in my book. The fun part about this combo is that it can be ANY shade of green, pink and yellow. If you know me well, I’m always going with bright colors if given a choice. But I think you could really have some fun with different shades in the colors, too. I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared the supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

When I saw the color combo, I was immediately inspired to create with the Submarine Life stamps and punch from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. I mean don’t we all need “a yellow submarine” (sing along with me) to send some smiles across the miles? I created a little underwater scene with a fun scrappy strip background to bring this fab color combo to life on my card.

I made a second version of this card for my "Sunday Funday" Facebook Live. This version used 7 instead of 6 strips (the bottom card in the photo above) because I initially angled them a little too high and needed to balance out some space. I actually kind of liked it with a little more color in the background, but either way, it’s just a fun card, don’t you think?

Click the video link above to watch the replay and see how this card
came together!

I finished the card with some Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs around th starfish and fist trio because I thought the looked like bubbles. The pop of shine is great and they don’t add more bulk to the card for mailing. Although tough to see in the photos, I also brushed some Wink of Stella on the submarine windows which looks really snazzy in person.

Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I added a few more scrappy strips along with the adorable little crab and a coordinating sentiment. I love that little crab and his “jazz hands” or claws…or whatever you want to call them. He’s just fun!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Color ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday March 15th, 2024

Latte Love for PP678

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, it’s my pleasure to be hosting our Sketch Challenge.

One thing I will always guarantee when I host a Sketch Challenge, is that the layers will be plentiful. When I put this sketch together, I could see it being a great layout for using lots of Designer Series Paper patterns AND it could also go the route of clean, bold and graphic. I hope it inspires you to dig into your crafty supplies and make something awesome. I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared the measurements and a supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo:
For my card, I’m sharing a sneak peek of the new A Little Latte Suite of products that will be available to order starting March 5th. If you are a coffee (or even hot cocoa) lover like me, this is a set you are going to want to add to your collection. I’ve shared a photo and details of what is included in the Suite at the very end of this post. I leaned into the colors and patterns of the Designer Series Paper in this collection and my starting point and I kind of love this color combo a LOT!! I cut those detailed coffee cups right out of the DSP. The shading and detail is all done, so you just cut and create! High five for that!

There is also a really cool natural trim in this collection. I decided to cut it apart and just use one strip for a simple bow on one of the coffee cups. It reminds me a little of burlap, but not bulky. I also added a trio of the Adhesive-Backed Swirl dots from the suite. To finish things off, I dusted the “coffee” portion of the mugs with Wink of Stella for a little pop of sparkle around those pretty foam designs. It really shimmers “in-person”.

Card Measurements:
  • Calypso Coral Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Early Espresso Layer: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • A Little Latte Designer Series Paper (DSP) Layer #1” 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • A Little Latte DSP Layer #2: 3-1/2” x 2-1/2”
  • A Little Latte DSP Layer #3: 2-1/2” x 4-1/4”
  • Early Espresso Sentiment Layer: 3-1/2” x 3/4”, heat emboss sentiment, punch left side with  Banners Pick a Punch
  • A Little Latte DSP: die-cut (2) coffee cup images
  • Basic White Cardstock (interior layer): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • A Little Latte DSP (interior layer): 3/4” x 5-1/4"

Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I added a strip of that fab plaid DSP with room to write a handwritten note. I’m trying to send out more “Hi, I’m just thinking of you” cards this year. So, I made a few extra to send out, just because.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday March 1st, 2024
