November 2020 - Third Thursdays Blog Hop

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up Demonstrators who love to share fun creative ideas. This month, our theme for the hop is Gratitude & Gatherings.

I’ve listed all of the hoppers toward the end of the post, so make sure you stop by and see what everyone has to share today!

All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
I was so excited for this challenge as I have some really special thank you cards to make and it was the perfect opportunity to use some of my favorite Fall products: the Beautiful Autumn stamp set and Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper. I LOVE this paper! Gorgeous fall colors and pop of metallic foil…swoon! I especially love the elegant look of Mint Macaron paired with copper foil accents.

I also made this card on my Facebook Live this week, CLICK HERE to watch the video!

Color Combo:
For this card, I used a few other products from this Suite, including the Brushed Metallic Cardstock and Basket Weave/Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack. I also added some embossed details to the layers to really play off all of the textures throughout the card. I also snuck in some leafy branches from the Sunflower Dies for some added “foliage”. I use those little branches a LOT because they add just that little bit of extra detail without being too bulky.

The sentiment and the Mint Macaron leaves are stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using copper embossing powder. Guess what? I didn’t remember until I was putting together the supply list for this card that copper embossing powder is RETIRED. However, it is not a difficult product to find out there in the crafty world, so I’m sure you could easily track some down if you don’t have any. You could always use Soft Suede ink as an alternative, too. Easy solution!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Mint Macaron Card Base: 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
  • Soft Suede Cardstock: 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper: 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”
  • Brushed Metallic Foil (copper): 2 1/2” x 3 7/8”, emboss using Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and cut at an angle to layer over the DSP
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock: 2 1/4” x 1 1/2”, emboss using floral pattern from Greenery Embossing Folder, cut at an angle to layer over the DSP and sponge edges using Soft Suede ink
  • Vellum Cardstock: scrap to die cut three single leafy sprigs and one double leafy sprigs from the Sunflowers Dies
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock: scrap to stamp three of the leafy images in Versamark Ink, heat emboss in copper, then cut the leaves out of the cardstock leaving a slightly border around the outside of the images
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scrap to stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink, heat emboss in copper and then die cut using the 2 3/4” (second largest) oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies
  • Basket Weave and Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack and Champagne Rhinestones
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper (inside card): 1” x 5 1/4"
Finally a peek inside the card. I added a strip of that gorgeous DSP along with an embossed sentiment and leaf accent. Simple, yet so pretty!

Welcome to the Stampin' Friends Blog Hop! We share on the third Thursday of every month with fun projects from all around the world! If you are following the hop, you arrived here from  Barbara Welch’s blog. Weren’t her projects gorgeous? Now, if you are starting the hop here, I have linked all of the Blog Hop Participants below, so be sure to stop by and visit everyone to say hello.

Hello, I’m Anne Marie Hile and I live in San Antonio, Texas in the United States. I’m so happy you stopped by today! This month, our theme is “Happy Holidays and it is actually our last hop for 2020. I hope you enjoy hopping with us this month and find lots of creative inspiration.
Ready or not, Christmas is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been trying to get a head start on some holiday shopping. It never fails, every year I *think* I’m ahead of schedule and then I’m scrambling to get things sent out. 2020 has been a crazy year, so I’ve vowed to do my best and if everything gets to its destination by the new year, I’ll consider that a success.
Today’s projects feature a few of my favorite things from the Stamping’ Up!® August - December Mini Catalog: the Cherish the Season stamp set, Sounds of the Season Dies, ’Tis the Season Designer Series Paper and the Red & Green Foil Paper. All of those elements together create festive holiday projects with traditional colors.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my projects below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.

My coordinating project came out of necessity actually. I picked up a few of these awesome sparkly pens for as holiday gifts for some of my friends who are obsessed with pretty office supplies, like I am. I purchased them online from a fantastic company here in Texas: PenGemsYou can find the link to the online store HERENot only are they gorgeous pens, but they have a really good weight to them in your hand when you write. “Pen People” back me up on this. All pens are NOT created equally. Haha!

Long story short, these beautiful pens are packaged in acrylic boxes. However, I think someone at the post office sat on my envelope because when they arrived, the boxes had seen better days and my envelope was pretty banged up. The pens were in perfect shape, thank goodness. I thought about contacting the company, but just decided that we all have WAY more important things to worry about than smooshed packaging. So, I decided to just take meters into my own hands and created a little box template that fit that pretty pen perfectly. Bonus points because the end result is already wrapped and ready to give, too.

Pen Box Measurements and Details:

  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 2 1/4” x 7 1/2”
  • On the short side (2 1/4” side): score at 1/2”, 1”, 1 1/2” one 2”
  • On the long side (7 1/2” side): score at 1/4”, 3/4”, 6 3/4” and 7 1/4”
  • Trim box as shown in photo below:
  • ’Tis the Season Designer Series Paper: 3/8” x 5 7/8” (4 pieces, adhere to outside of box as shown in photo
  • Use liquid glue to on the long 1/4” strip to adhere the box together, put pen in box and close up the ends of the box
  • Whisper White Cardstock: die cut the 2 1/4” x 1 1/8” scalloped rectangle from Stitched SO Sweetly Dies, stamp sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink
  • Red & Green Foil Sheets: die cut one small bell (red) and one small sprig (green) using Sounds of the Season Dies
  • Tie a bow using Real Red Sheer Ribbon and adhere top left corner of tag using a Mini Glue Dot
