Dragonfly Garden Sneak Peek for PP514

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper PlayersThis week, the always lovely Jaydee is hosting our Sketch Challenge.

Sorry things have been a little quiet around here this week. I’ve been under the weather pretty much all week and am finally back to creating again. I decided that I’ve binge watched entirely too much Netflix and am starting to feel like myself again. Whew!
I LOVE sketch challenges! As soon as I saw this one, I was immediately drawn to create with some new product that was just delivered this week, the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and coordinating Dragonfly Punch. This is a SUPER early sneak peek of products that will be launching in the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions catalog in January 2021.

As a Demonstrator, I was able to order these products early since I am attending OnStage at Home in November. OnStage is Stampin’ Up’s annual “Convention” which was supposed to be in Salt Lake City. However, due to COVID, this year we will all be getting together virtually the first weekend of November. Even though it can’t be “in person” I’m still excited to be a part of OnStage at home in my comfy clothes.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below, along with a full supply list at the very end of this post.
The new Dandy Garden 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper is also a new “sneak peek” that will be available in the Occasions catalog and coordinates beautifully with the stamps and punch. I thought this sketch would be a fun way to feature two of the patterns. I just love the colors in this paper. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like them together but as usual, once I started working with them, they kind of grew on me.

Color Combo:
Dragonflies are such beautiful creatures, aren’t they? I’m always excited when they make an appearance in our yard, so I was super-excited about this stamp set. I can’t wait to create more with it!

I wanted to add some extra dimension to the punched dragonfly on this card, so I layered him with another image punched from vellum. I accented the stamped dragonfly and the punched image with Wink of Stella and the added sparkle really pops on the card, although it’s tough to see in the photos. I also added some texture to the Designer Series Paper by using two different embossing folders. It’s a little detail but it adds so much to the card!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Bumblebee Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper (sneak peek product): 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”, embossed with Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock: 1-3/8” x 2-3/8”, three pieces
  • Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper: 1-1/4” x 2-1/4”, three pieces, embossed with Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
  • Vellum Cardstock: punch one dragonfly using Dragonfly Punch (sneak peek product) and accent using Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scrap to stamp and punch dragonfly image, color using Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ blend and accent with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush
  • Whisper White Cardstock: 2-1/4” x 5/8”, stamp sentiment and punch left side suing Banners Pick a Punch
  • Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Thread (sneak peek product) and three rhinestones
When I initially made my first card, I was planning to use the Calypso Coral printed DSP but it just didn’t work out like I had wanted it to. Since I already cut into the paper, I decided to make a second, smipler card using the same sketch. All of the card base measurements are the same, except I widened the three center panels a bit. The three pieces of Designer Series Paper measure 1-1/2” x 2-1/2” and the three pieces of Basic Black Cardstock measure 1-5/8” x 2-5/8”. Thought it would be fun to show an alternate project. Hope you like it!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday October 30th, 2020

Hello everyone! For my Facebook Live video this week, I featured a beautiful bundle in the August - December 2020 Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!®. The Dove of Hope stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dove Dies are great for making holiday cards and I had a lot of fun creating these projects this week.

***I have a link to a downloadable PDF with measurements for all of these projects listed toward the end of this post.
I wanted to show three different ways to use the Dove of Hope Bundle to create some gorgeous Christmas cards. The stamps and dies are sold individually, or you can actually save 10% if you buy them as a Bundle (item #155158). We all like saving a little bit of money, right?

My first card features a clean red and white color combo with pops of gold embossed detail. I made this card for my team swaps recently and just love how it came out.

Here’s a peek inside card #1.

For my second card, I didn’t use the doves at all. This is a really easy card to make showcasing the stamps in the set. I heat embossed the branch and ornament in silver and popped in a some sparkle with the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. I just love the monochromatic look to this card, don’t you?

Here’s a peek inside card #2.

My third card features the beautiful Detailed Dove Dies with a little bit of a rustic-feel. I also spritzed the dove with some shimmer spray made with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint mixed with some rubbing alcohol (70% or less) in a Stampin’ Spritzer. The pop of sparkle looks gorgeous against the textures in the background.

Here’s a peek inside card #3.
