In Symmetry Birthday for PP556

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
Since it’s the fifth Sunday of the month, Jaydee is hosting a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
My Tic-Tac-Toe Inspiration: Feminine - Birthday - Florals

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges are a great way to inspire your creativity. Just pick a row and start creating…easy peasy! I needed a birthday card for a friend, so that was where I started on the board. Then I needed a floral element and I instantly knew I wanted to use one of my favorites, the In Symmetry Stamp set and coordinating Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
I just love the big, bold blossoms in this suite! The stamp set is photopolymer, which makes it really easy to build the flowers since you can see through the stamps to get perfect placement. There is also a coordinating leaf punch that you can bundle with the stamp set to save a little money. It’s listed in the supply list at the end of the post if you want to check out out. I really like how this card came out and I hope you do as well. :)
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Calypso Coral Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4"
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, stamp sentiment in Just Jade ink
  • Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper: 1-3/4” x 5-1/8”
  • Just Jade Cardstock: 1/2” x 5-1/8”, die-cut left side using the scalloped border from the Penned Flowers Dies
  • Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper: 2-3/4” x 3-1/4”
  • Calypso Coral Cardstock: die-cut a 2-7/8” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: die cut a 2-3/4” circle from he Layering Circles Dies, stamp flower in Calypso Coral ink and stem/leaves in Just Jade ink
  • Just Jade Gold Ribbon & a gold Gilded Gem
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment in Just Jade ink
  • Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4"
Finally, a peek inside the card! I actually needed a belated birthday card (oops), so I used the sentiment from the In Your Words stamp set which worked out perfectly. This is a fun set filled with all-occasion sentiments. This stamp set can be earned for FREE as a host reward during Sale-A-Bration (through 9/30) with a $300 order….or if you host a party and orders go over $300. I also added another strip of the fun Sweet Symmetry DSP to coordinate from the front of the card.

Hand-Penned Petals for PP555

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Laurie is hosting our monthly Sketch Challenge.
Sketch Challenge week is ALWAYS my favorite and Laurie has a great layout this week! If you have ever visited me before, you might know that I tend to shy away from “tilted” layers on my cards. I have no idea why, it’s just one of those weird card making quirks, I guess.

When I saw the sketch, I was immediately inspired to ink up the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set and coordinating Penned Flowers Dies. It happened to be on my desk and I thought “hey, I can tilt the floral image when I add it to the card.” Whew, tilting-crisis averted! To accentuate the tilt, I added a zig-zag ribbon treatment behind the flowers. And that’s how I handled my card making quirk. Haha! (I’m a mess, I know!)

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
This color combo just makes me happy! I usually don’t tend to grab purple as a first choice but there is something about Fresh Freesia that draws me in. I especially love how it pops with the yellow and green.

Originally, I had planned to JUST add the colored die-cut floral image to the card front, but I thought why not dress it up a little more with some extra dimension. Dimension is like sparkle, you can never have too much. So, I stamped another floral image, fussy-cut the Fresh Freesia Flowers and popped them up with dimensionals. This ended up being a “chunky” card which will require another stamp to mail, but that’s easy to do.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Fresh Freesia Card Base: 4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-1/2” x 5”, to die cut the scalloped frame from the scalloped Contours Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap for stamping two of the floral images in Momento ink, color with Stampin’ Blends, accent with Wink of Stella for added sparkle
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 1-7/8” x 7/8”, stamp sentiment in Momento Ink
  • Fresh Freesia Ribbon and Fresh Freesia (In Color) Jewels
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3-7/8” x 3/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I added a little strip of the gingham DSP and fussy cut a few of the extra flowers I had left from the front of the card. I didn’t want to waste them and they added a nice pop of color inside the card. I decided not to add a sentiment in order to leave room for a handwritten thank you note.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our   Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday August 27th, 2021
