Simply Zinnia for PP686

Happy Sunday, crafty friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the lovely Jaydee is hosting our Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge.

When The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared la supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

I decided to use the Simply Zinnia stamp set and coordinating dies from Stampin’ Up!® to create my card. This bundle is an Online Exclusive available right now in my online store. There is even coordinating paper in this suite. but In the name of keeping things Clean and Simple, I decided to leave the paper in it’s little cubby in my stamp studio and instead add some texture to the background wit hthe coordinating Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder.

I love that you can piece together beautiful blooms with the Simply Zinnia Dies. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment and the interior. Those beautiful flowers layer together nicely and the added detail in the images sure is lovely.

It’s no secret that I’m a little smitten with the new Stampin’ Up!® In Colors that will be launching 5/1/24.

Up until this point, I haven’t used Shy Shamrock or Peach Pie a whole lot, so I decided that the time had come with this card. Haha! I paired the two new colors with Pumpkin Pie (the more pies, the merrier) along with a simple black and white. Adding in a little Peach Pie Glimmer  Paper to accent the flowers gave a nice pop of sparkle without being too over-the-top.

I also stamped the sentiment on  label from another new die set: Unbounded Love. You’ll be seeing more with this set from me really soon, so stay tuned!

I created a second version of this card using a different color combo for my Facebook Live video yesterday. The color combo is: Petunia Pop - Fresh Freesia - Shy Shamrock - Basic Black and Basic White.

I really like how both cards came out! What do you think? Do you prefer one color combo to the other?

If you’d like to see how this card came together, I’d like to invite you to watch the replay of the video over on my You Tube channel.

Click HERE or click the image above to watch. Don’t forget to subscribe while you are there! :-)

Finally a peek inside the card! I simply stamped a zinnia in Peach Pie ink and a set of leaves in Shy Shamrock ink to  “keep the party going from the front of the card”. There is plenty of room to pen a lovely handwritten thank you note.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for this fun ”Spring Flowers” Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Theme ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday April 26th, 2024

May 2023 - Stamping Sunday Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the May 2023 Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. We share on the THIRD Sunday of every month. We did a little refresh over the past month with a whole new look (Thanks Mikaela!) and added more amazingly creative designers to the hop. I’m thrilled to be part of this hop and I know you will love hopping along for creative inspiration.

Our theme for May is “New Beginnings” which is so fitting! We are sharing projects with new colors and new products. There are always beautiful projects from the team sure to inspire your creativity. Welcome, I’m so happy you are here today!
For my project, I decided to use BOTH new colors and one of my favorite new products, the Paper Florist Dies from the 2023-2024 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. I love piecing together layered die-cut flowers and this die set really has SO many possibilities! I couldn’t wait to use this new set and our hop this month was the perfect inspiration to break it in.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my projects below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post
If you like a big and chunky card, this one is for you! Grab some extra postage because you are going to need it with all of these fun layers. I also added a lot of extra shading to this card with inks and Sponge Daubers to add depth to both the flowers and the embossed background (using the new Exposed Brick 3D Embossing folder). The extra shading really adds so much detail, I just love that! I also peppered in little accents using the new More Dazzle Specialty Paper. I call this the “disco ball paper” and it really adds a fun pop of glitz and glam. Like Wild Wheat, I used it in smaller quantities on this card and I love the little bits of sparkle. If sparkle isn’t your thing, I think Early Espresso would be a nice substitute on this card in lieu of the glam.
Here is a closer look at the images in the Paper Florist Dies. So many ways to layer the flowers and add lots of extra detail. It’s a “stand alone” die set, meaning it doesn’t have a coordinating stamp set, per se. That just means you have LOTS of potential with these dies. I just searched through my sets to find the sentiment and font combo I liked for this card and decided on the Around the Bend stamp set
Color Combo:
The new Stampin’ Up!® In Colors that were just introduced this year are AWESOME! I shared a variation on a card on my Facebook Live last week, using Copper Clay and Boho Blue together. Ever since, I am absolutely smitten with these two colors together. I decided to add in a few little pops of Wild Wheat on this card, which was kind of hard for me at first. Wild Wheat is one of those colors that, on its own, is…well, not really pretty. That’s totally my opinion though.

I’ve kind of determined that for me Wild Wheat is more of a “supporting color” and when it is used in small accents has a moment to shine. Not as much as that More Dazzle paper, but still. Haha! So, I think I’ve made peace with this color and that makes me really happy.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Copper Clay Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Boho Blue Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, emboss with Exposed Brick 3D Embossing folder then gently add Copper Clay and Wild Wheat ink around the edges with Sponge Daubers
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die-cut largest circle from Stylish Shapes Dies, stamp sentiment in Copper Clay ink
  • Scraps of Copper Clay, Mojo Blue, Wild Wheat and More Dazzle Specialy Designer Series Paper to die cut flowers and leaves
  • Coppe Clay Jute Trip and Copper Clay Adhesive Backed Solid Gems
  • Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 4” x 5-1/4”
Here is a look inside the card! I had some extra die-cuts that I didn’t use on the front, which were perfect, along with a simple stamped sentiment. I always need some extra thank you cards, so I’ll save this one for someone special.

I hope you enjoyed these projects today using the Paper Florist Dies! Please continue along on the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop to check out more awesome creative inspiration filled with lots of beautiful projects.
