Caped Crusader Pup for Paper Players #193

Hello there, stamping friends! This week at the Paper Players, it's my turn to host the challenge and I created a sketch which I hope you will enjoy. When I drew this sketch out, I had the preconceived idea that it would be a great layout to showcase a lot of different patterned papers. But it can also be clean and simple, with a few layers. Either way, I hope you like it and it will inspire you to create a project for the challenge.
I really wanted a bright and sassy color combo for my card, so I started with the I Am Me DSP, which I finally ordered. I love the colors in this paper. They are so cheery! I decided to ink up the sweet pup from the Cool Kid stamp set for this challenge. Let's be honest folks, you really can't get more fun then a dog wearing a red sparkly "super-hero" cape, paired with yellow boots. It's ALL about the accessories, isn't it? I seriously love this stamp set! (I will be sharing another card with the kitty from this set coming up this week)
I added a sentiment using the Just Sayin' stamp set and perfectly cut it out with the Word Bubble Framelits Dies. Images really come to life with a "caption" sometimes, don't they?

Here is a look at the inside of the card. I combined the sentiments from a retired set and the Cool Kid set. This card is for a co-worker, who truly IS awesome! I hope this brightens her day.
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 2nd, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Speaking of captioning an image...look at these two. They were freaking out because they heard some deer on the other side of the fence. I told them to simmer down and these were the looks I got. Never a dull moment around here, I tell you. :)

Delicate Doilies for Dynamic Duos #100

Hello there! This is truly a bittersweet post for me. This week marks the 100th challenge at Dynamic Duos. After much thought and consideration by Lesley and myself, this is also the final challenge for the Dynamic Duos blog. I will truly miss this challenge and the amazing designers I have had the opportunity to work with. I have met some wonderful friends through this challenge and have been extremely proud to have had the opportunity to work with some very talented stampers. I hope you will join us this week with our final color combo!
For my card, I decided to use one of my favorite stamp sets, which will be retiring soon: Delicate Doilies. The sentiment comes from the Lacy and Lovely set. For the layout, I was inspired by the awesome sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.
I thought it would be fun to color in the doily image with markers and I really like how the colors came together. The pearls add an elegant touch. I framed the image with some Silver Foil Paper which I think really makes the image pop a little more. I like how this card came out and I hope you do too.
Here is a quick photo of the inside of the card:
I hope you will stop by and check out the challenge over at Dynamic Duos. The challenge will close at Noon (PST) on Thursday May 1st, 2014. This week also marks the end of the 6-month term of the Design Team. Please stop by and say hello to them. Such an amazingly talented group of stampers. I can't thank them enough for all of their hard work over the past 6-months. Ladies, you ROCK! :)

Washi Tape Feel Goods for Paper Players #192

Hello there stamping friends! Happy Easter, to those who celebrate the holiday. This week at the Paper Players, the lovely Nance is our hostess with a super-fun challenge. It's CAS (clean and simple) week and the twist is to feature one of my absolute favorite craft supplies: washi tape. I don't know about you but I have an enormous collection of washi tape in my stamp room. It's a quick and easy way to add a pop of color or pattern to a project.
For my card, I went with SU! Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape because I love the bright and cheery colors and patterns. I used markers to color in the stamped phrase and a tiny punched butterfly for dimension. Finally some bling and colored Candy Dots to dress it up a bit. The strip of embossing is not SU! but I really felt like the card needed something to tie the two corners of washi tape patterns together on the card.

This was a super easy card to make and I actually didn't use 10 layers on a CAS card, like I tend to do. Ha! I loved this challenge and it really got me excited to actually USE some of that washi tape I am hoarding.
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, April 25th, 2014 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Fabulous Florets for Paper Players #191

Hello there stamping friends! This week at the Paper Players, we have a color challenge brought to you by Ann.  I will admit, when I saw this color combo, I was kind of stumped. So, I pulled out one sheet of card stock in each of the colors and picked the Fabulous Florets stamp set off the shelf. Why that stamp set? I've never used it, so I figured it was time.
I had the colors and the stamps...now I just needed some inspiration for the layout. As soon as I saw Cindy's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, I was ready to get to stamping.
Getting the layers together on this one took some time, I'm not going to lie. I think I tried every combination of colors in the layers until I decided that this was the keeper. Gah! Once I fussy-cut that flower, I knew I was committed to using this stamp set. I had to make it work! I really needed to get some Coastal Cabana on the main image somehow and decided to try sponging some ink on the background. I liked how it came out...I hope you do, too. Often, I think when you spend a lot of time on a card, you can sometimes convince yourself that something looks good...but it might not. So, I hope this was a good call. I sponged Calypso Coral ink around the flower and on the layer of DSP as well.
Of course, a card for Ann's challenge had to contain pearls...so I added 12 of the little buggers. I also added a little Glimmer Brad for a tiny pop of sparkle.

Here is a photo of the inside of the card, combining the flower from Fabulous Florets and stamps from the Happy Watercolor stamp set.

Sweetie Pie Trio for Paper Players #190

This week at the Paper Players, the always wonderful LeAnne is our hostess with a fun theme challenge: Three Spree. Sounds like fun, huh?

I used a new photopolymer stamp set from SU called Sweetie Pie. Aren't these little ladies the cutest? I might have slightly went a little "sparkle happy" on this card...I know. Sometimes I just can't help it. Once the Glimmer Paper comes out, all bets are off.
I used a lot of "three's" on my card: three stamped images, three ribbons, three different types of sparkly accents and the little ladies have three different hair accessories. A girl has to accessorize, you know? I dressed up the headband and the little beret with some Dazzling Details. I mean, who wouldn't want a pink sparkly beret? Sheesh!
The sentiment is from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set. It is a fun set of birthday sentiments that I have wanted for some time and finally broke down and purchased it. I just don't think you can ever have too many sentiment stamps. Speaking of too many stamps...I really need to clean out my stamp studio soon. It is busting at the seams in there. Eeek!

Here is a quick peek at the inside of the card:
