Festive Farmhouse Plaid for PP407

Happy Sunday stamping friends! It’s time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, the lovely and talented Jaydee has an awesome sketch to get that creative mojo working. There are a lot of ways to interpret the sketch, so check out the challenge and join us.

I decided to use some products from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! ® Holiday Catalog for my card. The catalog will be available starting September 5th, so get ready.

Y’all, I am absolutely LOVING the Festive Farmhouse Suite of products. I can not stop using them. I decided to create my card focusing on the Designer Series Paper and some of the accessories in the collection. From that beautiful paper, to the wood word, to the Galvanized Button, to the twine…it all just pairs so well together. The color combo of Cherry Cobbler, Gray Granite and Whisper White is amazing and I think it makes a very snazzy Christmas card, don’t you? Other than the inside sentiment, there is no other stamping on the card, which I kind of love!
When I first saw Jaydee’s sketch, I was kind of struggling with that little space on the bottom. That was AFTER I got over the different sized layers. Haha! I’m the gal who struggles to “tilt” a layer on a card. I finally cut those layers to different sizes (eeek!) and that little space just made me go hmmmmm. Then I remembered that subtle, little detail on one of the Stitched Layers Framelits. Done and done! It slightly fills the space and adds the cutest little detail.
L-O-V-E it!
Thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone, Jaydee!
What I lacked in stamping I made up for in layering those embellishments.
That little (ok, it’s not really little…) stack is comprised of:
  • Pearlized Doily
  • Layering Circle Framelit, embossed with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder
  • 3 vellum accents from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies
  • Cherry Cobbler banner from the Farmhouse Framelits Dies
  • Galvanized Button
  • Festive Farmhouse Twine
  • 3 Rhinestones…because if bling is an option, the answer is always YES
A little peek of the inside of the card. I just used more DSP and a strip of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. I realize that the sentiment is a little too far to the left, but you know what? It’s a handmade card and it’s totally ok. This is why you don’t stamp your sentiment after you glue your layer to your card folks. Oops!

I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players this week. The sketch challenge is open until Friday August 31st, 2018 at 12:00 Noon PST.

Please check out the projects from the team and share some love with them:

Before I go, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of our “patio hummingbirds.” I just adore these little ones. We have three tiny pairs who are regular visitors and they are so fun to watch. It’s been SO hot here that we have been making sure that we have extra nectar ready for these sweet little creatures.

Dryer Sheet Technique for Facebook Live

Hello and Happy Friday! Here are the projects that I featured on my Facebook Live yesterday featuring a fun technique using dryer sheets to create some sparkly holiday cards. It is such a fun technique, albeit a little messy. The end result is SO worth it though. The key is to use a used dryer sheet for this technique, so you’ll have to do a load of laundry before you sit down to create your card.

I have listed all of the supplies I used at the end of this post and the measurements for the cards are listed under their photos.

You can see the replay of my Facebook Live video by clicking HERE.
(There you can see how to do the dryer sheet technique along with other tips to create these cards.)

I used the images from the timeless Lovely as a Tree stamp set and the sentiments/Framelits are from the Farmhouse Christmas suite that is coming out in the Stampin’ Up! ® Holiday Catalog on September 5th. I just love this technique to add a lot of sparkle and texture to a card. Two of my favorite things!

    Measurements for the first card:

    •  Pool Party Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
    • Silver Foil Paper - 5-1/4” x 4”
    • Whisper White Cardstock - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
    • Pool Party Cardstock - 2-5/8” x 4-1/2”
    • Whisper White Cardstock - 2-3/8” x 4-1/2”
    • Whisper White Cardstock (inside of card) - 4” x 5-1/4"

Here is the inside of the card. I originally was thinking about using the new Buffalo Check background stamp on the front of my card, but it was a wee bit “busy” and I decided against it. I didn’t want to waste it, so I added a little piece to the inside of the card to dress it up a bit.

For the second card, I paired Early Espresso and Petal Pink for a non-traditional holiday color combo. You don’t necessarily have to use this for a holiday card though.

    Measurements for the second card:

    •  Early Espresso Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
    • Petal Pink Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
    • Wood Textures DSP - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” (save a 1” x 5-1/4” piece for the inside of the card)
    • Early Espresso Cardstock -
    • Whisper White Cardstock - 2” x 3-3/4”
    • Whisper White Cardstock (inside of card) - 4” x 5-1/4"

I used the new Braided Linen Trim and the little stars are from the Festive Farmhouse Accents, which  are also in the upcoming Holiday Catalog. That is one of my favorite suites of products in the upcoming catalog. I’m working on a class with those products this week as well.
A quick look inside the card using a little bit of the DSP, a sentiment from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set and a simple tree, which was masked off from there larger stamped image.
Here is a look at how the cards looked using different patterns of the Woodgrain Textures Designer Series Paper. It’s a subtle difference and I really like them both. That paper is so versatile and definitely a “must have” in my opinion.

Now though August 31st, 2018 there is an awesome offer going on from Stampin’ Up!® For every $50 you spend, you will receive a $5 voucher to use on your purchases between September 1-30, 2018. The Holiday Catalog launches on September 5th, so that’s a great way to save some money on new products.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the video (linked at the top of this post) and will give this technique a try. I’ll be back next Thursday August 30th for another Facebook Live at 2:30pm CST. I hope you will join me. Have a HAPPY day!
