Festive Farmhouse Plaid for PP407

Happy Sunday stamping friends! It’s time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, the lovely and talented Jaydee has an awesome sketch to get that creative mojo working. There are a lot of ways to interpret the sketch, so check out the challenge and join us.

I decided to use some products from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! ® Holiday Catalog for my card. The catalog will be available starting September 5th, so get ready.

Y’all, I am absolutely LOVING the Festive Farmhouse Suite of products. I can not stop using them. I decided to create my card focusing on the Designer Series Paper and some of the accessories in the collection. From that beautiful paper, to the wood word, to the Galvanized Button, to the twine…it all just pairs so well together. The color combo of Cherry Cobbler, Gray Granite and Whisper White is amazing and I think it makes a very snazzy Christmas card, don’t you? Other than the inside sentiment, there is no other stamping on the card, which I kind of love!
When I first saw Jaydee’s sketch, I was kind of struggling with that little space on the bottom. That was AFTER I got over the different sized layers. Haha! I’m the gal who struggles to “tilt” a layer on a card. I finally cut those layers to different sizes (eeek!) and that little space just made me go hmmmmm. Then I remembered that subtle, little detail on one of the Stitched Layers Framelits. Done and done! It slightly fills the space and adds the cutest little detail.
L-O-V-E it!
Thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone, Jaydee!
What I lacked in stamping I made up for in layering those embellishments.
That little (ok, it’s not really little…) stack is comprised of:
  • Pearlized Doily
  • Layering Circle Framelit, embossed with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder
  • 3 vellum accents from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies
  • Cherry Cobbler banner from the Farmhouse Framelits Dies
  • Galvanized Button
  • Festive Farmhouse Twine
  • 3 Rhinestones…because if bling is an option, the answer is always YES
A little peek of the inside of the card. I just used more DSP and a strip of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. I realize that the sentiment is a little too far to the left, but you know what? It’s a handmade card and it’s totally ok. This is why you don’t stamp your sentiment after you glue your layer to your card folks. Oops!

I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players this week. The sketch challenge is open until Friday August 31st, 2018 at 12:00 Noon PST.

Please check out the projects from the team and share some love with them:

Before I go, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of our “patio hummingbirds.” I just adore these little ones. We have three tiny pairs who are regular visitors and they are so fun to watch. It’s been SO hot here that we have been making sure that we have extra nectar ready for these sweet little creatures.

    1. I love these papers too...my stamp camp is using this exact DSP tomorrow on one of the cards they'll be making! I love the vintage, country feel of it! And look how sweet that hummer is! We watched three fighting over our feeder last night...don't get in their way when they're swooping around! And thank you for the prayers for my dad!! He is having an arteriogram tomorrow and hopefully they will put in a stent so his leg will heal. He's in so much pain, I want to cry.

    2. I love these papers Anne-Marie - can't beat a nice plaid! - but must confess, apart from the wooden elements I didn't pick up any of the other things in the Farmhouse Suite. I might have to revisit now though! I love the layering behind your sentiment; so much detail, without overwhelming the otherwise clean feel of your card. Gorgeous!

    3. Oh Anne Marie, it is SO lovely to be on the team with you! Welcome back! This is such Farmhouse Festival... I have been havering about these papers because I like their earthy tones. You make it hard to resist. The thing I did with that space at the bottom was a bit naughty - I ignored it - but I like what you've done with that simple line of dots. That die set is rapidly moving off the wish list and onto the need list.... I think we might be mutual enablers! And finally, I have to say I love your hummingbird photo. I went to Canada this year and saw a hummingbird for the first time and I was mesmerised by it, so think it would be fantastic to have resident ones.

    4. This sketch is great way to showcase that awesome plaid paper! I saw it in the catty and right away was drawn to it. I also like the way you finished the inside!

    6. Just beautiful, Anne Marie! I love the plaid and the rich shade of red. It's fun how quite a few of us used patterned paper with this sketch to make Christmas cards. Glad I'm not the only one thinking about Christmas!

    7. I love this pretty, crisp plaid for your festive card. The wool bow is a beautiful touch. I so love seeing the inside of cards too - I always try to carry the theme onto the inside with snippets of DP - and I even use a bit with my signature on the back panel as well. What a sweet humming bird pic. I have a feeder up here still but the sort we have don't hang around for too long, have not seen one for a while but remain ever hopeful...
