Hand Stamped Sentiments #82- Monochromatic Color Challenge

Hello there! I wanted to share my card for the new challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. This week it's all about keeping it Monochromatic on your projects. Such a fun challenge! The details are listed in the photo below. We sure hope you will join us! :)
For my card, I went with a color that I never seem to use a lot of, Perfect Plum. Yes, this card also marks the return of the infamous Button Buddies stamp set. Surprise! Looks like I'm back on the kick again...this is truly my most used stamp set from the new SU! catalog, I tell ya.

My image was stamped in Perfect Plum Craft ink and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. I also dressed up the button with a blinged-out center. I also realize that my gratuitous use of bling comes as no surprise to anyone. *wink, wink*
I thought the "You're a Gem" sentiment, from the stamp set of the same name, fit perfectly for this pretty purple thank you card. I added one more button to the bow, for fun.
I hope you like it! Please stop by Hand Stamped Sentiments to see what the rest of the super-fabulous gals on the Design Team whipped up this week for the challenge. Hope you have a chance to join us and link up YOUR creation! The challenge is open until 12:00PM (CST) on Monday September 5th. Thank for stopping by! Have a very HAPPY day today! :)

Paper Players Challenge #61- Jaydee's Sketch Challenge

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! It's time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players! Hooray! This week the lovely and talented Jaydee is our hostess and she has created a fun sketch to try. We hope you will play along and join us!
I decided to make a masculine-themed card to have on hand. For some reason, I never seem to have enough "guy cards" when I need them. For my image, I inked up the Sail Away stamp from the Summer Mini Catalog. This set is sold as a single stamp and there are only a few more days to snag it before the catty retires, too.

I used the (ret.) Sanded stamp for the background, I always regretted not buying this set when it was out. I was so excited when I saw that a stampin' friend (and fellow Paper Player) was getting rid of hers. Thanks, Ann! :) I also busted out the Color Spritzer tool to add more distressing to the background and the sentiment. I added an Antique brad, because it had a semi-nautical-vibe to it.
I shaded the image with watercolor pencils and then used an Aqua Painter to soften the colors a little. I really like how the white sails pop off the Crumb Cake card stock. I originally stamped the image on Very Vanilla card stock and it just didn't seem to stand out enough. I sponged all the edges on the card with Crumb Cake ink to rough it up a little, also.
Thanks so much for visiting today! Please stop by to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with this awesome sketch. We hope you have a chance to play along and share YOUR creation this week over at the Paper Players

Elegant Floral Wedding for OCC

Hi there! Happy Saturday to you! It's time for another fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner. This week, a super-elegant color combo is brought to us by Vicki B. t's a neutral challenge with a POP of red! (In retrospect I think the card base should have been black...just pretend it is, ok?) I was pretty excited for this one because a good friend's wedding is coming up soon and guess what? Red and Black are their wedding colors! So what better opportunity to create the card for the gift? Gotta love multi-tasking! ;)
I paired up the color combo with this week's sketch from Stamping 411which I absolutely love!! Thanks ladies!
There is minimal stamping on this card. I really wanted a lot of dimension, so I used the Floral Fusion and Swirls Scribbles Sizzlits dies to create the floral bouquet. The Basic Gray DSP came from a retired hostess paper pad, but there is a similar paper available in the current catalog. I MAY have over-done the BLING...but it's a wedding card, so I think it it is appropriate. (I can ALWAYS justify the bling...I'm just saying!)
I used the Stripes Embossing Folder on the Basic Black card stock. The sentiment is from the Blissful Bride stamp set, which is sadly retired. (I just recently purchased it from a stampin' friend, though...so it is new to me. Thanks Ann! ) I completely forgot to snap a photo of the inside of the card, which included another sentiment from the same stamp set. Whoops!
Thanks for stopping by today! Please hop on over to Our Creative Corner to see what the rest of the DT gals have whipped up with these fabby colors. Please join us and share YOUR creations! We can't wait to see them!

Thoughts going out to everyone on the East Coast who may be in the path of Hurricane Irene. Please be safe out there!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #81- Banner Bash Challenge

Hi there! Happy Tuesday to you! It's time for a fun challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. This week we are having a BASH..a "Banner Bash" and are showcasing projects featuring banners and/or pennants. The important thing is to have some FUN and get creative!
Shockingly, I did NOT use the Button Buddies set for this card. I KNOW...I kind of scared MYSELF with that one. Haha! Instead, the Pennant Parade set and matching Petite Pennants Builder punch were broken out of captivity for this card. I also decided that the Just Add Cake DSP was perfect for the festivities, too. This paper is awesome! I have seriously created 25 cards and 5 boxes...and counting... with ONE pack of paper!
There is a LOT of pattern and texture going on here, but hopefully it all works together. I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone. Of course, when anything feels like it is out of the norm, I just add glitter and bling and it seems to make it a little easier to come to terms with. :)

Here is the inside of the card, topped off with scraps from the front and a rub-on sentiment:
Before I go, I realized that I NEVER posted a photo of my little Ozzy after his trip to the "doggie spa" a couple of weeks ago. My dogs are officially turning into little "divos" with all this pampering they get. Sheesh!
Thanks so much for visiting today! Please join the "Banner Bash" over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week!  Stop by and see what the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team have created, too. Hope you have a great day! :)

Paper Players Challenge #60- CAS Sketch Challenge

Hello there! It's Sunday and that means it's time for another FUN challenge over at the Paper Players!! This week, LeAnne is our "hostess with the most-est" and she has whipped up this fabulous sketch to play along with. We hope you will ink up some stamps and play along with your clean and simple (CAS) design this week!
I have to admit, when I was first constructing this card, I did NOT let the Clean & Simple  RULE register. I created another card...really heavy on the bling...that was abandoned, last minute, for this challenge. When it came to a CAS card, I immediately turned to the new Button Buddies stamp set, SHOCKING, huh?? This set has been my "go-to" set since it arrived on my doorstep. I know I said I was going to give it a rest...BUT, it's too cute not to ink up. I use this set entirely TOO much! Ugh!!

I added some Pumpkin Pie brads (ret.) to my pumpkins. Ever though they are retired, these Corduroy Button/Brad accents are one of my all-time favorites. So much texture and dimension at one time! All the layers on the card are popped up and I kept the ribbon treatment simple on this one. The sentiment is heat embossed for added shine.
Here is the simply decorated inside of the card:
Thanks for visiting today! Please hop on over to the Paper Players and see what the rest of the DT have created this week.

Sunny Garden for Our Creative Corner

Hi-ya friends! This week has flown by and it is already Saturday! Yikes! I have had a lot going on lately and haven't had much time to visit Blogger. So, if I haven't popped by to visit YOU, please forgive me.  I'm super excited to share the new weekly challenge over at Our Creative Corner. This week, the super-fabulous Vicki is our hostess at OCC and she has an AWESOME sketch challenge to try:
I don't know about you, but I just LOVE this sketch! I already added it to my book of "favorites". I decided to play around with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch for this one...the circle shape reminded me of a SUN and the flowers just seemed to fit. I'm on a patterned paper kick lately, too. These papers came from the (ret.) In-Colors DSP pad and Sunny Garden DSP. Although the paper is retired from the actual catalog, you can still snag it in digital download form in SU! My Digital Studio. So "technically", it isn't truly retired. Which is awesome...because I just LOVE this paper. In MDS I can print my favorite patterns any time I want with a simple point-and-click. The colors are so fun and happy! That's why is was the perfect mix for a (much needed) "thank you" card today.
The circle element in Vicki's sketch reminded me of a sun, so that's where the whole "flower idea" came from. I added some color to the scalloped circle using Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers. I thought it played off the dotted background. If you haven't ordered the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack and the matching Bitty Buttons, you really should. They dressed up my punched flowers with an extra pop of dimension. I just love those little buggers! :)

Finally, here is the inside of the card...ready for a special thank-you note:
Thanks for visiting today! Please stop by Our Creative Corner and see what the rest of the fabulous DT has created this week. We sure hope you will play along! :)

Have a HAPPY day!! :)

Hand Stamped Sentiments #80-All Stitched Up Challenge

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you! This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we are "gettin' stitchy with it"! Can you sew? Or are you like me and fumble with a needle and thread? There are so many ways to add STITCHES to your project, whether it is with a sewing machine, a needle and thread, rub-on's or a gel pen. Get creative and have some fun! We can't wait to see what you create!
I want to preface this post by mentioning that I really DO own stamp sets OTHER then Button Buddies. Although, you wouldn't know it by how often I have been using that set lately. *sigh* I think it is a REALLY versatile set...and I keep wanting to ink it up. I promise to give it a rest after this post. Then there is that Just Add Cake DSP. Yup, I tend to use that a LOT, too. So far from one pack of DSP, I have created over 21 cards and 5 boxes! There is still a ton of paper left for more projects! Now is a great time to stock up on DSP as Stampin' Up! is having a Buy 3 Get 1 Free promo, too. Check the tab at the top of my blog for more info!
For my stitching, I simply ran some Baker's Twine through the Dotted Ribbon Scalloped Border Punch. Easy-peasy! If you are like me and CAN'T sew...this technique makes you feel like you can actually master a stitch or two. (Thanks to Ann Schach for the inspiration for this idea!) I was recently commissioned by a friend, to make some "thinking of you" cards for folks she knows...going through some tough times. She wanted fun colors and lots of textures...nothing dreary. I hope this card fits the bill. I will find out later today if she likes it. *crossing my fingers*

Finally, the inside of the card...with a simple sentiment, to brighten someones day:
I sure hope you will play along this week with your "stitched up" creation. Real stitches or "faux"...we want to see 'em. Please hop on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has whipped up this week. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day!! :

Paper Players #59- Think Pink Color Challenge

Hello there! It's Paper Players Sunday and I'm super-excited to be hosting this week's challenge. Sorry my post is SO late! In my efforts to get the challenge post up on the Paper Players site, I forgot to schedule this post. Eeek! I may have mentioned once or twice *grin*...my favorite color is PINK! No really, it's true! So, I thought it would be fun to "Paint the Paper Players Pink", this week and have some fun. I sure hope you will join us!
My inspiration for the layout of the card came from the fabulous Karen Giron. She featured a card with this sketch on her blog recently and I was completely inspired to give it a try! To say this card is "thick" is an understatement. In the words of my sweet hubby when he picked it up: "This one is going to require a LOT of extra postage!"

In my opinion, the perfect compliment to anything pink is anything that sparkles! So copius amounts of Iridescent Ice Embossing powder adorn this creation. I rubbed the Versa-Mark stamp pad all over the Rose Red card stock pieces...and a little on some Pretty in Pink pieces to accent the border punch...and shook that glittery goodness everywhere. It was all fun and games until it got in my eye...OUCH!
I used my new Stripes Embossing Folder on one of the layers of DSP and the Paper Crimper on the cupcake "wrappers" for some added texture. The embossed polka dots behind the cupcakes just added to the theme, too. What is the perfect accent to wrap up a box of yummy cupcakes fresh from the bakery? Baker's Twine, of course! My cupcakes were inspired by the Pink Champagne cupcakes at my favorite local shop, Kate's Frosting. (Click their name to read about their yummy creations)lIf you are ever in the San Antonio area, check this place out! SO delicious!
Finally, here is the dressed-up inside of the card, complete with birthday wishes:
So there you have it: sweet, pink, sparkly fun! I hope you enjoyed today's card. Please let me know what you think. Also, be sure to stop on by the rest of the Paper Players Design Team to see what the lovely ladies have cooked up for inspiration. Please join us this week to "get your pink ON"!

Fruity Fun for Our Creative Corner

Hello there! Happy Super Saturday to you! Has it really been 5 days since my last blog post? Why, yes it sure has! Yikes! Where did the week go? Today I'm really excited to share an all-new weekly challenge over at Our Creative Corner. Kristin is our hostess and she is challenging us to have some Fun with Fruit, this week. Look at this yummy photo she has shared for some inspiration:
I turned to my new favorite stamp set, Button Buddies for my card. How fun is this cherry image?? As I always seem to grab reds for cherry-themed cards, I wanted to try something a little different this time.  Hello there, Rose Red! It's still red but with a peek of pink! I mixed it up with some Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso and have to say, I really like the combo.

I busted into some new supplies, too. The Subtles DSP pack, Subtles Glimmer Brads, Subtles Buttons and the fabulous new Houndstooth Embossing Folder. The complete list of supplies can be found at the end of this post.
I couldn't decide on the design of my card, though. When that happens, I usually tend to head on over to the Mojo Monday blog and that does the trick, every time.
Thanks for the fun sketch, Mojo Monday gals! :)
Finally, here is the inside of the card, which completes the "FRUIT-tastic" theme!
Love that sentiment and itty-bitty cherry from the (ret.) Goody Goody Gumdrops set:
Thanks so much for popping by! Please head on over to Our Creative Corner and see what the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team have cooked up this week. So many gorgeous creations! I hope you will play along with us and share your "fruit-themed" project!

Have a very HAPPY day today! :)
