Sunshine, Sprinkles, Owls and Adoptions...Oh, My!

Hi stampers! The title of my post is a little random, I know. Hopefully it makes sense by the time you get to the end. I'm in a sassy mood today as I had the day off and was wicked productive. Don't you love days like that? I got a LOT scratched off my never-ending "to do" list, including cleaning up my stamp studio. I was a little scared to go in there, as it looked like the Tasmanian Devil ripped through there recently. Not a joke, by-the-way. It was BAD!
I was so happy that my space was fresh and clean, I celebrated by...getting it messy again and making some cards today. Oh well! I made this card after seeing the awesome sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, created by the amazingly talented Cindy Hall. I got to meet Cindy at SU Convention last year, which was pretty cool!

When I get really excited about creating, I always reach for bright and cheerful colors. The Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper (from the SU! Spring catalog) is one of my absolute favorites right now. I couldn't decide which stamps to use and after staring at my collection for longer then I truly needed to, I abandoned that thought completely and went to my punches. WHOOOO loves owls? This girl does! I've listed all of the supplies I used at the end of the post.
So what's up with that "adoption" in the title of my post? Well, if you are a regular visitor to my blog, you know that my husband and I have been fostering a dog from the city shelter since last September. After many months of unsuccessful (and some very creepy) adoption inquiries, we decided that Mr. Oscar had already found his home...with us! So we went ahead and made it official last week. Thank you to everyone who has been inquiring about him for an update. Oscar (he is the one on the right) is super excited to be part of the family and so are we!
Until next time...Have a very HAPPY day today! :)

Color Splash for Our Creative Corner

Hello there! Well after a busy week, here it is Saturday and it's time for a new weekly challenge at Our Creative Corner. This week, the lovely Tui Nathan is our fabulous hostess and she has a fun challenge for us.

Here are the challenge details from Tui:
"Black and White with a splash of Colour" - create a card or paper craft item with the colours black and white, and then add a splash of colour of your choosing! Which way will you go .... classic and elegant, modern and contemporary, clean and simple or shabby chic ... the choice is yours so have fun and be creative!
For my card, I turned to my trusty Owl Builder Punch. I have seen SO many cards on Pinterest lately featuring this little guy, I was itching to get punchy with him again. I have always loved the sentiments from the Perfect Words stamp set (SU! Hostess set) and once I selected RED as my choice for a "splash" of color, I decided that one of these tiny owls needed to take center stage. What better way, then with some sparkle and shine...while his little owl friends look on in admiration. Haha! The sentiment and those little eyes say it all for this "superstar  owl", eh? He really stands out in a crowd! All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of this post.
Thanks for stopping by today. I sure hope you can join us this week at Our Creative Corner and have some fun making a "splash" with this fun challenge. Please stop by and see what the rest of the gals on the Design Team have created for inspiration this week:

A Sketch for The Paper Players

Hi-ya stamping friends! It's Sunday and you know what that means...yup, it's Paper Players time!! Woot woot! This week, I am your challenge hostess. Eeeek!!! I sure hope you like my sketch and have a chance to join in the fun by playing along. Pretty please!! :)
For this one, I started out with something completely different, in mind. Then, I was inspired by a color combo I saw on Pintrest, my latest creative obsession. Love that site!!
I paired up bits from three stamp sets for this little guy and even did a little "fussy cutting" which is something I generally hide from. Lol! The witch hat from the Wicked Cool stamp set fits perfectly on the punched owl. I'm sure I'm not the first to try this out, but I was pretty excited when I discovered it.

Although I didn't actually USE the trick-or-treating owl from the Warmest of Wishes (hostess) set, I used his "goodie bag" for my inspiration. I simply used a marker to ink up the jack-o'- lantern face on the stamp and hand-cut a little treat bag. I added a piece of silver elastic cord for the handle. Although, as I type this, I kind of wonder how this hooter is going to haul his "loot" as he doesn't have hands or wings...hmmmm...maybe he will carry it in his beak? GAH...Why am I even thinking about that? Haha!
I sponged around the image, the owl and the sentiment with some Basic Black Classic ink for an eerie-vibe. Every layer is popped up, too. It's hard to see in photos but it is actually a fairly bulky card.
Finally, here is the inside of the card, using the (ret.) Trick or Treat set...I couldn't think of a better sentiment to use with this little dude
Thanks for stopping by today and please pay a visit to the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team to see what they have done with the sketch. Please, PLEASE play along with the Paper Players if you get the chance this week, too! *grin*
