The Celebration Continues at The Paper Players

Good morning stamping friends! The celebration continues over at The Paper Players this week for their 400th Challenge! I created another card because I love that they are keeping the celebration going for another week. There are a LOT of prizes for this challenge, so I hope you will check it out and share in come celebratory fun!

I’m currently loving the combo of Pacific Point, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody.
Bring on the BRIGHTS!! If you have visited me before, you probably know that is my favorite family of colors.
One of my current goals is to attempt to incorporate stamp sets with colors and paper that weren’t necessarily marketed together. I pulled out the Balloon Celebrations stamp set and used the sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday set. I just love that combination of fonts, don’t you? I tied it all together with one of the patterns from the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper. That DSP has a lot of abstract floral images but I thought this pattern paired well with the balloons.

Balloons are just so much fun on their own, but stamped and heat embossed, they really stand out! I stamped and masked these “strings” a couple of times until I finally got it together. That’s the great thing about card stock. It has 2 sides. So if you make a mistake, just flip it over for a clean slate. Ha!
I also used the NEW Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the 3-3/4” x 5” Whisper White layer. It is tough to see in the photos but it adds the slightest bit of texture to the paper, which I love.

Here is a peek of the coordinating inside of the card.
Pease head on over to The Paper Players to join in the fun! It would be awesome to see what you create for this “Celebration" challenge. Stop by and say hello to the rest of the team and before you leave here today, please leave me a comment to say hello so I know you stopped by. :)

Guest Designer at Inspired By All the Little Things

Hello and Happy Saturday to you!
I am SUPER excited to announce that I was asked to be a
Creative Guest Designer over at Inspired By All the Little Things.
I am truly honored to share my project with these amazingly creative gals!
Thank you SO much!

Check out the challenge and please play along!

Here is the inspiration photo:

When I saw the photo, I immediately wanted to create a Christmas card using a white/gray/silver color combo. I wanted to try to keep it on the clean side, but with some texture and dimension. I don’t usually make cards that don’t involve a LOT of color, but I really enjoyed putting this card together.
So crisp and clean!
On the inside of the card, I heat embossed the sentiment and snowflakes with Silver Embossing Powder and added a little strip of silver washi tape from the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape Bundle. I always like to decorate the inside of my cards because I think it adds a little extra detail.
I really hope you enjoyed my card today! Please hop on over to the Inspired By All the Little Things blog and play along this week.

Guest Designer at A La Card Monkey

Hi there! I'm back with a second post today...which is a very rare occurrence these days.
I am super excited to share that I was asked to be a Guest Designer this week over at A La Card Monkey. The lovely gals on the team selected me as a "Monkey Princess" here on THIS post from November 4th . This week, the challenge is Anything Goes (any theme or event), using the following sketch:
When I saw this week's color combo at Just Add Ink, I was instantly smitten. Any color combo with Melon Mambo in it always grabs my attention. Melon Mambo is my favorite! *grin*
With the sketch and the colors, I knew exactly which stamp set was going to see some ink for the very first time: Gift Givers. How stinkin' CUTE is this little lady? This stamp is the main reason I bought the set. She's just so sweet hanging out in the snow to say hello. :)
There is a lot of dimension in the card, that it tough to see in the main image. All the layers are popped up using Stamping Dimensionals. I also added the Snow Burst Embossing folder to the background, then sponged on some Frost White Shimmer Paint, to give it that "wintry-vibe". I also embossed the Melon Mambo layer, as the polka dots sort of mimicked the snow in the stamped image. Basic Pearls look a little bit like snowballs, so they made the cut, too. I colored one tiny pearl with a marker to adorn the little cutie's cap. Dazzling Details were added to the snowflakes and the "ground" on the stamped image for some added sparkle. Sparkle is cool!
Finally, here is a shot of the inside of the card:
I'm also adding this one to Shirley's Christmas Blog Hop
Yes, that's THE same Shirley from the A La Card Monkey team!
Check it out and join in the fun!
Thanks so much for visiting!  Enjoy your day today!

Hugs,

Guest Designer at A La Card Monkey

Hi there! I am really excited to share that I was asked to be a Guest Designer this week over at A La Card Monkey. I was picked as a "Challenge Princess" two weeks ago and that is one of the fabulous perks that come with the "title". How fun is that? This week the theme is all about the furry friends! Simply use an animal, ANY animal, with the sketch below and play along.
My card started out as a kitty card. As I was searching through my patterned papers, I just couldn't find anything that was really "working" for the feline theme. I found this retired Tall Tales DSP and loved the color combo.

What goes better with trees then MONKEYS? Haha! I thought it was fitting for the challenge, too. I embossed these little fellas then colored in their faces, bellies and cheeks. The tree branches were made from the 2-Step Bird punch. After I cut and glued the Old Olive "leaves" I thought I would add a little dimension to them by adding some flocking. (I have a ton of this "Flower S---" stuff and never seem to use it!)  I made a huge mess PLUS the cat got into it...yup, took a little break from making the card to get the carpet cleaner out. Gah!! I really like the effect, though.
I actually made this card for a special, little gal who is having a birthday this month. She really loves animals, so I hope this one is a hit. I used some retired rub-on's for the sentiments. I really liked that I could cut them up to place them exactly how I wanted them. I completely messed up the inside sentiment, though. It was SUPPOSED to say "Let's Celebrate!" but the "Celebrate!" got stuck to my finger in the process of adhering "Let's". No problem, I just found another rub on and made it work. :)
There you have it! I hope you will ink up your CRITTER stamps this week and play along at A La Card Monkey. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Until next time...
