Forever Friendship for PP601

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, LeAnne is our host for a fabulous Sketch Challenge.
Hooray for Sketch Challenge week! These are always my favorite. LeAnne has whipped up a fun layout and I just loved seeing what everyone on the design team did with it. There are lots of possibilities, that’s for sure! I hope you will join us and share your creation this week.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
When I sat down to create with this sketch, I was immediately drawn to a stamp set that I recently ordered: Forever Friendship. This is just a super-cute little set and I knew it would be on my must have list as soon as I saw that “Time for a Card-Again” sentiment. I always love a good pun! :)
I knew I wanted to make a masculine birthday card for this challenge because I never seem to have enough when I need them. Next came the search for some patterned paper to help me select my color combo. I decided to use the He’s the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper because I love how the patterns kind of play off the texture in the cardigan. I had to chuckle as this card features three of my least favorite colors: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede. Oddly enough, they seem to play really well together so I guess there might be some hope for them after all. Haha! For a finishing detail, I popped on some Resin Stars Embellishments which just recently retired. It’s fun to dig around in the retired stash sometimes. You just never know what you will find in there!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Soft Suede Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • He’s the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper (Crumb Cake pattern): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • He’s the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper (Cajun Craze pattern): 1-1/2” x 4-5/8”, trim a banner end either with scissors or a banner punch
  • Vellum Cardstock: die cut a 2-1/2“ circle using Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp cardigan image and two flag images in Momento Ink, color with Stampin’ Blends (Crumb Cake light/dark, Cajun Craze light, Daffodil Delight dark) & fussy-cut
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment in Momento Ink then die cut using the banner from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Resin Stars Embellishments are recently retired, but substituting another embellishment would also work just as well
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • He’s the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper (Cajun Craze pattern, inside card): 4” x 3/4”
Here is a peek inside the card! I simply added a strip of the DSP along with some stamping to keep the party going from the front of the card. I really like how this one came together and I hope you do as well!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 29th, 2022

Seal of Approval for PP600

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Anne is hosting a VERY special Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
This week marks the 600th challenge for The Paper Players! How cool is that?! The very first creative challenge was posted on June 7th, 2010. I can’t believe that was over 12 years ago. The first time I played along with The Paper Players was September 17, 2010 and I was so excited to be asked to join their Design Team in early 2011...I’ll have to go back and try to find the exact date. Wow, time sure flies! I just love this wonderfully talented group of crafty gals and am beyond blessed to be creating with them for so many years.

Ann has a fun “Kards for Kids” theme for Clean-and Simple week and I hope you will join us and play along for this milestone challenge!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to use the new Seal of Approval stamp set from the July-December Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!® I recently won this set at a team meeting and was over-the-moon excited to use it. The little seal is just sooooo stinking cute!

Of course, my card started out a little more CAS and then went its own way once I started adding things. I originally had JUST the silver foil DSP on the card base and decided to add the stitched border for a fun detail. The Hippo Dies (Sale-A-Bration exclusive) because they provide so many fun little accessories to use on a variety of card, not just the coordinating Hippest Hippo stamp set. (More about Sale-a-Bration at the end of this post.) I accessorized my seal with a little heart and cut the fun “water splash” shapes from White Glimmer Paper. The ribbon is Pool Party, I know it doesn't “technically” match Balmy Blue, but it’s close enough for me! It added some extra texture without a lot of bulk.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Balmy Blue Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”, die cut the front of the card with the largest frame from the Stitched with Whimsy Dies
  • Silver & Gold Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration exclusive): piece to die cut the second largest rectangle form the Stitched Rectangle Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: piece to die cut the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies, stamp water image in Balmy Blue ink
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp the seal image in Basic gray ink, fussy-cut and add to die cut circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • White Glimmer Paper: scrap to die cut the “water splash” shapes using the Hippo Dies
  • Real Red Cardstock: scrap to die cut the heart shape using the Hippo Dies (Sale-A-Bration exclusive), add Wink of Stella
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1-5/8” x 1/2”, stamp sentiment in Real Red Ink
  • Pool Party Sheer Ribbon
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment in Real Red ink
  • Silver & Gold Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration exclusive): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
  • Real Red Cardstock: scrap to die cut hearts from the Hippo Dies
Here is a peek inside the card! I added an extra strip of that fun silver polka dot DSP along with a coordinating stamped sentiment. I added in a trio of die cut hearts just because they were fun and continued the theme from the front of the card. This card is not only great for a kiddo, it can also be sent to a friend to let them know you are thinking about them. I think those are the best cards to send!

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) “Cards for Kids" ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 22nd, 2022
