Kiddin’ Around for PP687

Happy Sunday, crafty friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players

This week, the lovely and talented Joanne is hosting our Sketch Challenge.

Sketch Challenge week is always my favorite! I love all of the layered elements on this one. It’s always fun to start with a “layout and see where your imagination goes with your craft supplies. So many possibilities.

I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared the measurements and a supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

          Color Combo:

As I was looking through my stamp sets to see which one spoke to me for this layout,  stopped on the adorable Just Kiddin’ stamp set and coordinating dies. This bundle is currently in the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog but good news, it will be carrying over into the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog, too.  The new Annual catalog officially goes Live on 5/1/24.However,  if you want the bundle pricing for 10% off, you won’t want to wait…because that will go away after 4/30/24.

One of my favorite things about this set is the coordinating Just Kidddin’ Designer Series Paper. This paper will be retiring on 4/30, so grab it while you can. :-)

I cut my little magician right from the paper with the coordinating die which is easy-peasy with no additional coloring required. The cheery colors and fun patterns totally worked with this sketch, too. This is just a fun card of encouragement and I love how it came together.

Card Measurements and Details:

  • Azure Afternoon card base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Berry Burst Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  •  Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 4-1/2” x 3-1/4”, emboss with Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder
  • Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper: (4 pieces) 1-1/4” x 1-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut 2nd largest circle from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Azure Afternoon Cardstock: scrap to heat emboss sentiment and die0cut with banner from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper: die-cut little magician from paper
  • Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 5-1/4” x 4”, stamp sentiment in Azure Afternoon ink and stars in Daffodil Delight ink
  • Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper (card interior): 7/8” x 4”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock (card interior): 1/4” x 4”

Finally a peek inside the card! I added another strip of the DSP along with a little strip of Daffodil Delight Cardstock, then stamped a coordinating sentiment and some stars to keep the party going from the front of the card.

This could easily be a birthday card, or just a card to let someone know that you think they are special. I think this would just be an uplifting card to find in your mailbox, don’t you?

Hey Chuck for PP658

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Claire is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.

Clean-and-Simple week, we meet again. Haha! This is always my most challenging week, but I think I’ve really started to embrace it more and more in recent months. I did find for this challenge that I do NOT have an overabundance of sport-themed stamps in my stash. But I DID find a rooster on a skateboard. Skateboarding is a sport…although I don’t see a lot of roosters participating regularly. It fit the bill for this challenge, so I went with it! I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo:
The Hey Chuck stamp set and coordinating dies are one of my favorite bundles in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog! Animals are always more fun when they are wearing clothing and “doing things”, right? The roosters in this set sure have a lot of personality and I just love all of the different ways they can be colored, too.

I decided to go with a bright and cherry primary color combo for my card, which I kind of love. I kept the layout pretty CAS and added three 1/4” strips of cardstock to create a little grounding for this feathered friend as he rides across the card on his board. I also popped in some texture on the die-cut circle from the new Cheery Patterns Embossing Folders. The waves created a little more “movement” which I really liked. Finally I popped on a little die cut sunshine…because everything is more fun on a sunny day and two little festive pearls to finish things off.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple “Sports" ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday September 22nd, 2023
