Quatrefancy Cupcake for Paper Players #143

Hello there and welcome to another week at the Paper Players. This week, the absolutely awesome Ann Schach is our hostess with a fun sketch to try out. This week, I received some new items from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Catalog and was super excited to use them.
I used the Quartrefancy Specialty DSP from the new catty along with the new Banner Greetings *hostess* set. Aren't the colors in this paper fabulous? Strawberry Slush is my new favorite color! Best. Pink. EVER! :) I have a feeling I will be using this color way more then I should.

What birthday recipient  doesn't deserve a cupcake? I dressed up the punched image with Dazzling Details glitter glue and a big button. I love those metal buttons from the Spring catalog, but rarely seem to use them. All of the supplies I used are listed below.
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, May 3rd at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team have whipped up with this week's sketch challenge:

Have a HAPPY day today! :)

Stippled Blossoms for Dynamic Duos #50 AND Vicki B.

Hello there and welcome to "Monochromatic" week at Dynamic Duos! This week is special over at Dynamic Duos for a few reasons. First of all, it is our last week with our AMAZING current Design Team. These gals are unbelievable and it is so bittersweet that we celebrate each of them this last week for their awesome creative inspiration. THANK YOU, ladies! Words cannot express how much I appreciate these gals and everything they have done over the past 6 months.

The next reason that this week is special is because we are honoring one of our very special Design Team members, Vicki Burdick to celebrate her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VICKI!! Vicki is so amazingly talented and an honest-to-goodness sweet gal. I have admired Vicki's creations for about as long as I have been blogging. My dear friend Lesley is hosting a blog hop in honor of the birthday girl. Check it out HERE.
For my card, I used a set (Stippled Blossoms) that I bought simply because of Vicki's inspiration. She ROCKS this stamp set, no joke! The challenge colors work so well with the two-step stamping. Honestly, two-step stamping usually freaks me out because I am one of those people that has to have everything line up PERFECTLY. But after I stamped this image (without trying too hard to line it up) I was happy with how it looked...on the first try! Whoa, that never happens. Must be the "Vicki Mojo"!
Please join us this week at Dynamic Duos! The challenge closes on Thursday, May 2nd, at Noon (PST). The rest of the Design Team created some fun projects with the colors this week, too. Stop by and say hello...and don't forget to send some birthday smiles to Vicki:

Have a HAPPY day today! :)

New Catalog Sneak Peek: Wildflower Meadow

Hello there! On Thursday I received a really COOL box of Stampin' Up! goodies delivered by that "man in brown". I LOVE this time of year and it is almost here...the NEW SU catty! Eeek! I got my pre-order and let me tell you, I am beyond excited for these new items.

No surprise that the first of the new colors that I unwrapped the card stock and ink pad for was Strawberry Slush. Ha! I paired it up with Coastal Cabana and put this card together. The stamp set is called Wildflower Meadow and it has a matching embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Label Love stamp set. This set has a co-ordinating punch. I created some Coastal Cabana ribbon by using the Coastal Cabana re-inker to dye the 5/8" Whisper White Organza ribbon.
So, do YOU want to get your hands on a new Stampin' Up catalog? Well, I will be happy to send one to you if you place a $25 or more order through me, between now and May 10th. (sorry, MDS downloads do not count toward the qualifying order amount) I will also include a hand-made card with your catalog, as a special "thank you" for being a customer! Your catalog will arrive separately from your order.  Limit one catalog per customer.

One Layer (not-so) Wonder for Paper Players #142

Hello there stamping friends! I am finally here with my card for this week's Paper Players challenge. This week, the fabulous Jaydee is our hostess with a challenge that had me WAY out of my comfort zone: One-Layer Cards.
Ok, ok...I know you have all been waiting for my awesome one-layer wonder creation. *Totally said as a joke...I will pause for a bit so that you can stop laughing hysterically* I had really good intentions for this card. Really, I did. But after 3- 1/2 hours trying to get a one-layer card together, I realized that I am no-so-great at this style of card making.

I did feel better adding some Crystal Effects to the balloon, and the sparkly rhinestone details. But, then  my husband said to me: "aren't those technically layers?" GAH! I don't know. Are they?? So, I Paper Pierced to compensate and distract you from looking at those details. With this card, I officially have entered the "Stamper's Hall of Shame".  The supplies I used are listed at the end of this post, if you are interested...it's OK if you don't want to look, I know this one was a struggle. But I had really good intentions, so I hope that counts for something. :(
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, April 26th at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team created with this week's challenge:

You Rule for Paper Players #141

Hello there! It's time for another challenge over at the Paper Players! This week, I am the challenge hostess with a fun mix of colors that I hope you will enjoy. Baja Breeze is one of my favorite Stampin' Up "blues" and I am sad it will be retiring soon.
I decided to finally ink up the You Rule stamp set from the SU Spring Catalog. It coordinates with the new HUGE rhinestones, too. This is no joke...that is some big bling! I didn't have any patterned paper that had all of the colors together on it, so I decided to make my own using my (very neglected) Circle Circus stamp set. I randomly stamped the images and then embossed it for some added texture. I want to give an extra special shout out to my fabulous friend Rita for helping me out with the layout for this card. She always has great advice and I'm so lucky to have her as a friend for so many reasons. All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of my post.
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, April 19th at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team created with this week's challenge:

Have a HAPPY day! :)

Hello Foxy for Dynamic Duos #48

Hello there stampers! Well, after a hectic couple of weeks, I am so excited to be back over at the Dynamic Duos challenge. This week is "Soft and Subtle" week with a fab combo of Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie

I did a little paper piecing and watercoloring on the Hello Foxy! single stamp. I've never seen a blue and orange fox either...but for the sake of this card and the color challenge. let's pretend they actually exist. Haha! I think this is such a fun image!

I dressed up my "foxy lady" with a double bow, a simple button and some black pearls for her nose and as a decorative accent. The supplies I used are listed at the end of the post.
Please join us this week at Dynamic Duos! The challenge closes on Thursday, April 18th, at Noon (PST). The rest of the Design Team created some fun projects with the colors this week, too. Stop by and say hello:

Recycle it! for Paper Players #140

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! This week at the Paper Players, the fabulous Nance is our hostess with an awesome theme challenge for us: Recycle It!
For my card, I used two re-purposed items. First, I'm not sure if you know that Stampin' Up! has a cool new monthly paper crafting kit called Paper Pumpkin. You can read more about it HERE. Well, long story short, the fun kit comes in this cute orange box and the contents are wrapped in Pool Party tissue paper. That was pretty much the inspiration for my card. I used that tissue paper to create that fluffy flower. I started by punching out 8 circles using the Scallop Circle punch.

Quick Tip: Punches do not cut through tissue paper really easily. So I just put the tissue over a piece of card stock to make punching them out a little easier. Added bonus, you have some extra punches to use on another project (or for a class or a club). It could be a time saver if you are organized like that. I am not. Ha!
After crumpling up the tissue paper, I layered all of the punches on top of each other and popped a mini brad through the center to hold them together. Then I added some Dazzling Details glitter glue to the edges of the flower for a little extra sparkle.

My second re-purposed item was an old pair of jeans. They were a favorite pair, so I figured they could live on in a stamp project. I used them for the scalloped border. That cute sentiment is from the Paper Pumpkin kit. I love it! Obviously this is not a card I plan to mail. This will be one I give in-person or add to a gift bag to dress it up. The rest of the supplies I used are listed at the end of my post.
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, April 12th at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team created with this week's challenge:
