Floral Essence Sneak Peek for PP439

Hello and Happy Sunday stamping friends! This week at The Paper Players the lovely and talented Claire is our hostess with an awesome sketch challenge. It’s no secret that sketch challenges are my favorite. It’s so fun to start with a great layout and see where your creativity takes you. I hope you will join us this week!
As soon as I saw Claire’s sketch I was inspired create with some brand new products from the upcoming Stampin Up!® Annual Catalog. These products from the Perennial Essence Suite will be available starting June 4th, so today’s post is a little “sneak peek” of sorts.
The new products include:

  • Floral Essence Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Perennial Flower Punch
  • Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper
  • Perennial Essence 12” x 12” Vellum Cardstock
  • Perennial Essence Floral Centers

The Designer Series Paper in this suite is truly stunning! The soft floral imagery is hand-painted and has such gorgeous color and detail, it could even be framed on its own. I decided to use two of the lighter patterns to create this wedding/anniversary card. And yes the layer with the stamped sentiment is actually Designer Series Paper with a very subtle pink pattern. So pretty!

 Today’s Colors:

Those Perennial Essence Floral Centers had me scratching my head a bit when I first saw them at Stampin’ Up!® OnStage earlier this month. They have an interesting “fuzzy" texture and at first glance, I wasn’t so sure I liked them. But once you pop them on the punched flowers, they totally look amazing. I think they are a really unique and fun detail!
I just love that this suite has coordinating colored vellum! It really adds such beautiful detail and comes in Petal Pink, Old Olive and So Saffron for a great variety of colors to use with this suite. To start, I stamped the floral image in Flirty Flamingo on the Petal Pink vellum. Ink does take a bit to dry on vellum, so a good tip is to do your stamping and then just set it off to the side to dry while you work on the rest of your card. Once dry, I punched out the flowers with the Perennial Flower Punch and layered the images together. I also used the Leaf Punch to add some accents around the flowers.

For the So Saffron vellum layer and the Whisper White Layering Circle, I actually used the Subtle Embossing Folder to add a bit of texture. I love how this Embossing Folder looks on vellum. It adds a little pop of detail without being too distracting. I topped the flowers off with those fuzzy floral centers and then added some sequins for sparkle and shine.

Card Measurements:

  • Old Olive Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Petal Pink Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper  (floral design)- 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • So Saffron Perennial Essence Vellum - 1-3/4” x 4-7/8”
  • Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (for stamped sentiment) - 2” x 3-7/8”

As always, a quick look at the inside of the card, using a 4” x 5-1/4” piece of Whisper White cardstock, a 1-1/4” x 5-1/4” strip of DSP and coordinating stamps. This paper is just gorgeous!

Sunny Days for Paper Players #438

Hello there stamping friends! It’s been a week since Stampin’ Up!® OnStage and I finally feel like I’m back in a routine again. After attending the event itself, presenting at the event and then hosting an “after-party” for 80 stampers immediately following OnStage, I was just a wee bit busy. I loved every minute of it! But life takes over sometimes and I’ve been catching up over the past week.
I’m so happy to be back hosting a new challenge over at The Paper Players this week. It’s Clean-and-Simple week and I thought it would be fun to incorporate Paper Piecing into the challenge. Paper Piecing is a fun way to add some awesome detail to your stamped images. Sure stamping and coloring are a lot of fun, but paper piecing adds some extra detail by cutting cardstock or Designer Series paper and adding them to your image for added texture and pattern.
I used the Sunny Days stamp set which is sadly retiring at the end of May. I haven’t used this set nearly enough so, I wanted to give it a little "inky love" to make some cards of encouragement to have on hand for friends. I love the big, bold sentiment. I highlighted it with some color to compliment the stamped image. I just love how the colors pop on this card! I resisted the urge to add 10 layers since it is clean-and-simple week. *wink, wink*

Card Colors:

I snapped this photo while I was putting my card together. Sorry for the wonky lighting. I paper pieced the lemonade stand and the little banner out of Designer Series Paper. I’m so sad that the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper is retiring soon. It’s one of my favorites! At first, I was a little worried that this was going to be a lot more fussy cutting than I bargained for, but you know what? It wasn’t that bad at all. Thank goodness for my newest obsession of listening to podcasts while stamping. I love that I can listen while I work. It keeps my mind engaged and that has proven to make me a whole lot more productive. I don’t even mind fussy-cutting anymore. Who AM I? Haha!
Even though there is a lot of color on this card, it came together pretty quickly, thanks to the Rectangle Stitched Dies. One for the main image and one for the sentiment, that’s it. I colored them in using my Stampin’ Blends Markers. I did add some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the lemonade pitcher and glass. Because I just don’t ever pass up an opportunity to add sparkle, even if it is clean-and-simple week.

Card Measurements:

  • Lovely Lipstick Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • In Color 2018-2020 DSP - 1-1/2" x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • In Color 2018-20120 DSP (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”

As always, I have to include a photo of the inside of my card. Nothing over-the-top here. Just a little pop of DSP and a sentiment to keep the party going from the front of the card. Don’t neglect the inside of your cards. They like to get a little extra somethin’ somethin’ too.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share a project using the color challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday April 26th, 2019.
