Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players!
This week, Claire is hosting our Sketch Challenge.
Full disclosure, I wasn’t feeling 100% yesterday (thanks Texas allergies) and really had to push myself to try to be creative. However, if you have visited me before, you might know that I do love a good sketch challenge. Claire’s sketch is a fun one and once I got into my stamp studio, it didn’t take long to start creating. I sure hope you will take this sketch for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!
*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the very end of this post.
As I kept looking at Claire’s sketch, I keep thinking that the Let’s Go Shopping stamp set and coordinating dies would be fun to ink up for this challenge. I just love all of the fun little shops in both the bundle and the Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper. I always like to explore local small businesses and exploring a quaint bookstore is always a great idea. In today’s world of everything electronic, for me there is still nothing that beats a good book. The kind you can hold in your hand and flip the actual pages. Curling up with a book, a delicious beverage, a soft blanket and a 4-legged companion (or two) is the absolute best way to relax and unwind. Ahhh!
I cut out this little bookstore from the DSP and added a couple layers of greenery to the roof. I sponged around the edges to add some depth around the leafy accents. that was my starting point. From there I decided to flip the sketch on its side because the focal image seemed to fit better. Then I layered some coordinating DSP, including the pattern with all of the assorted tiny shops. Finally I grounded the bookstore on a die-cut circle and added some ribbon and embellishments for detail.
This card wasn’t where I started initially, but I kind of like how it came out. I hope you do as well!
I didn’t finish the inside of the card. Shhh! But I do have a plan to add a simple gift card pocket to include a special treat for the recipient. The only thing better than getting craft supplies as a gift is the opportunity to buy some new books! I’ll coordinate an interior sentiment once I get ready to send this one out. It could really work for a variety of occasions!
I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday June 30th, 2023.
