Forever Lovely for PP435

Happy Sunday stamping friends! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend so far. This week at The Paper Players, Laurie is our host and she has a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge for us to create with. I decided to use the Forever Lovely Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog which I absolutely love.
Tic-Tac Toe Challenges are a lot of fun because of all of the options you have to create with. It’s probably not a surprise that if there is an option for “sparkle”, I’m all in. I had originally decided to go with the middle row of Enamel Dots - Embossing - Sparkle but I guess technically the pearls may, or may not be, enamel dots. What do you think?

All was not lost though because my card also works for the Patterned Paper - Sparkle - Floral column. Phew! You know, as I am typing this post, I just realized that my card could also fit for the diagonal Die-Cut - Embossing - Floral row as well. Whoo hoo!
I was also inspired by the current Mojo Monday Sketch, which I’m SO happy to see return after a little hiatus. I do love a good sketch challenge and Mojo Monday is one of my favorites for card layout ideas. Although I did move the elements of the sketch more toward the center of the card, because everything just seemed to fit a little better that way.
The Festive Friday Challenge is celebrating Handmade Day, which is a wonderful occasion to celebrate. I decided to add some Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon to fill both aspects of the challenge. This ribbon creates such “fluffy” bows, I just love it!
If you have visited my blog over the past month, you will have noticed that Soft Sea Foam is quickly becoming one of my favorite colors. I’ve been using it a LOT. I promise I’ll find a new color to become obsessed with next month. Haha! It’s just SUCH a pretty color, especially paired with another favorite, Flirty Flamingo.

 Today’s Colors:

There are two elements of “sparkle” on the card. First is the little pop of Sparkle Glimmer Paper behind the All My Love Designer Series paper. I also used the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on the flower which is SUPER sparkly in real life.
For the embossing, I decided to feature both heat embossing and also a combination of 2 different embossing folders for texture. To heat emboss the sentiment, I first stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink, then immediately stamped it again in the Flirty Flamingo ink pad. Then I stamped the sentiment on the Whisper White Cardstock, sprinkled Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder over it and embossed it with the Heat Tool. Adding that layer of Versamark Ink as a first step helps to get a more even and detailed embossed image, in my opinion.

Card Measurements:

  • Flirty Flamingo Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
  • Soft Sea Foam Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • All My Love Designer Series Paper - 2” x 5-1/8”
  • Sparkle Glimmer Paper - 2-1/4” x 5-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with stripes) - 3” x 3”
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock (behind sentiment) - 2-3/8” x 2-3/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (sentiment) - 2-1/4” x 2-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • All My Love Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”

Finally, here is a look inside the card. I decided to not add a sentiment, since this card could be used for a few different occasions (birthday, encouragement, wedding shower) so, I’ll just add one in when I actually send the card.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share a project using the color challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday April 5th, 2019.

Bokeh Dot Dragonfly for Team Swaps

Hello stamping friends! Today I wanted to share the second card I made for my team swaps this month. Our theme was “Critters” and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to use one of my favorite sets from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog: Dragonfly Dreams. Not only is the stamp set beautiful, but the coordinating dies really complete the package. This was my second card I created for this month’s swap. You can see the other card by CLICKING HERE
I paired up the dragonfly with the Bokeh Dots stamp set, also from the Annual Catalog. This set creates a subtle detailed background, which I find works really well with soft colors. Speaking of colors, I’m a little bit obsessed with this color combination. I have to admit, when I used it for THIS CARD not too long ago, I knew it I was going to be using it again really soon. So here we go! Aren’t these soft greens gorgeous together? Ahhhh….

Today’s Colors:

I kept the layout pretty simple and added a bit of texture to the Mint Macaron layer using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. It’s not just for snowy backgrounds! I simply cut out there dragonfly from the dies, then spritzed it with a mixture of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer. That added a fabulous pop of sparkle which is kind of tough to see in the photos. I also cut out another dragonfly in Vellum Cardstock to layer behind the detailed dragonfly to add another layer to his delicate wings. Finally some pearls and sequins for the final touches.

Card Measurements:

  • Soft Sea Foam Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3” x 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside of card) - 4” x 5-1/4”

Of course, no card is complete without a finished “inside.” I just kept the sentiment going from the front. Nothing complicated, because I didn’t think it needed anything more.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this card. Please leave me a comment to say hello. You can find all of the products I used to create this card listed below. Click on any of the photos to shop online in my online Stampin’ Up!® store anytime 24/7.

Have a HAPPY day today!
