Ok, ok...I know you have all been waiting for my awesome one-layer wonder creation. *Totally said as a joke...I will pause for a bit so that you can stop laughing hysterically* I had really good intentions for this card. Really, I did. But after 3- 1/2 hours trying to get a one-layer card together, I realized that I am no-so-great at this style of card making.
I did feel better adding some Crystal Effects to the balloon, and the sparkly rhinestone details. But, then my husband said to me: "aren't those technically layers?" GAH! I don't know. Are they?? So, I Paper Pierced to compensate and distract you from looking at those details. With this card, I officially have entered the "Stamper's Hall of Shame". The supplies I used are listed at the end of this post, if you are interested...it's OK if you don't want to look, I know this one was a struggle. But I had really good intentions, so I hope that counts for something. :(
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, April 26th at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team created with this week's challenge:

Actually, I was waiting patiently for your awesome one layer card and you did not disappoint! I love the crystal effects on the balloon and how you shadowed it in blue. Great one layer card, and stop being so hard on yourself! Hugs :) Sandy
ReplyDeleteYour card is fun and cheery! You did a great job! And the card is one later in the picture anyway! :-)
ReplyDeleteOk....you have me seriously laughing at your post. I think this card is adorable. Just the kind I need to give to some of my boys' friends at parties. Love the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAM... seriously!!! Really!!!! How can you say you aren't good at this type of card. It's fabulous. All that white space focuses the attention on that gorgeous balloon and sentiment. The use of Crystal Effects on the balloon was an awesome idea. The whole thing about one layer cards is how to add interest without adding layers of cardstock and ribbon. hey, I even love your little touches of tiny rhinestones in the corner! I'm sorry this was such a challenge for you, but you rocked it!

P.S. LOVE your inspiration word art!
Please don't beat yourself up. I love this card. It's perfect for any age, balloons make people smile and a little bling doesn't count as a layer (I think). I plan on CASEing this for some cards I need.
ReplyDeleteI love this....cute and simple and I don't think the rhinestones count as a layer! Super shiny & fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jaydee....this is FABULOUS, AM! You are being waaay too hard on yourself. I don't count CE or rhinestones as a layer at all. Instead, they are a genius way to add depth and dimension without extra bulk. It's absolutely perfect and I adore the extra color you added by shading around the balloon string. You rocked it!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I for one think you didm a WONDERFUL job!!!
ReplyDeleteCrystal effects is NOT a layer. Only paper counts as layers - you did good!
Beautiful CAS card, Anne Marie! Oh, we are so hard on ourselves, aren't we? I wasted way too much paper on my card...should have given up! Your card is adorable- reminds me to use Crystal Effects;)
