Quatrefancy Cupcake for Paper Players #143

Hello there and welcome to another week at the Paper Players. This week, the absolutely awesome Ann Schach is our hostess with a fun sketch to try out. This week, I received some new items from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Catalog and was super excited to use them.
I used the Quartrefancy Specialty DSP from the new catty along with the new Banner Greetings *hostess* set. Aren't the colors in this paper fabulous? Strawberry Slush is my new favorite color! Best. Pink. EVER! :) I have a feeling I will be using this color way more then I should.

What birthday recipient  doesn't deserve a cupcake? I dressed up the punched image with Dazzling Details glitter glue and a big button. I love those metal buttons from the Spring catalog, but rarely seem to use them. All of the supplies I used are listed below.
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, May 3rd at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team have whipped up with this week's sketch challenge:

One Layer (not-so) Wonder for Paper Players #142

Hello there stamping friends! I am finally here with my card for this week's Paper Players challenge. This week, the fabulous Jaydee is our hostess with a challenge that had me WAY out of my comfort zone: One-Layer Cards.
Ok, ok...I know you have all been waiting for my awesome one-layer wonder creation. *Totally said as a joke...I will pause for a bit so that you can stop laughing hysterically* I had really good intentions for this card. Really, I did. But after 3- 1/2 hours trying to get a one-layer card together, I realized that I am no-so-great at this style of card making.

I did feel better adding some Crystal Effects to the balloon, and the sparkly rhinestone details. But, then  my husband said to me: "aren't those technically layers?" GAH! I don't know. Are they?? So, I Paper Pierced to compensate and distract you from looking at those details. With this card, I officially have entered the "Stamper's Hall of Shame".  The supplies I used are listed at the end of this post, if you are interested...it's OK if you don't want to look, I know this one was a struggle. But I had really good intentions, so I hope that counts for something. :(
Please join us this week over at the Paper Players! The challenge is open through Friday, April 26th at NOON (PDT). Check out what the rest of the Design Team created with this week's challenge:

Peach, Poppy & Pear Cupcakes

Hello there! It is finally the weekend! Whoop whoop! (This post was scheduled for early this morning and Blogger didn't cooperate with me again...sigh!) I have to share that yesterday was also my sweet husband's birthday! No, this is NOT his birthday card...I don't think sparkly cupcakes are quite his "thing". :) I have a fun weekend planned for him though, shared with some GREAT friends. My card today was inspired by two challenges that I have not played with in a VERY long time. First up, I just LOVE the fabulous color combo from Pals Paper Arts this week:

I combined those colors with this sketch from the Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge:

I had it in my mind that I wanted to use the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set for this card. I got the image stamped and colored then just couldn't figure out what to do with it. The circles on the bottom of the sketch really threw me for a loop. I attempted about 5 different border punches but nothing seemed to click. Then, I ran some Poppy Parade card stock through the Crimper (to mimic the bottoms of the cupcakes) and punched some circles. A few of them are popped up to add a little dimension. The cupcakes were decorated with some sparkle then topped off with dabs of Crystal Effects on the cherries.
I also sponged some Poppy Parade ink on the Pear Pizzazz card stock and the banner sentiment. Finally, here is the inside of the card:
Thanks for stopping by for a visit! Enjoy your day today! :)
