Paper Players Challenge #61- Jaydee's Sketch Challenge

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! It's time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players! Hooray! This week the lovely and talented Jaydee is our hostess and she has created a fun sketch to try. We hope you will play along and join us!
I decided to make a masculine-themed card to have on hand. For some reason, I never seem to have enough "guy cards" when I need them. For my image, I inked up the Sail Away stamp from the Summer Mini Catalog. This set is sold as a single stamp and there are only a few more days to snag it before the catty retires, too.

I used the (ret.) Sanded stamp for the background, I always regretted not buying this set when it was out. I was so excited when I saw that a stampin' friend (and fellow Paper Player) was getting rid of hers. Thanks, Ann! :) I also busted out the Color Spritzer tool to add more distressing to the background and the sentiment. I added an Antique brad, because it had a semi-nautical-vibe to it.
I shaded the image with watercolor pencils and then used an Aqua Painter to soften the colors a little. I really like how the white sails pop off the Crumb Cake card stock. I originally stamped the image on Very Vanilla card stock and it just didn't seem to stand out enough. I sponged all the edges on the card with Crumb Cake ink to rough it up a little, also.
Thanks so much for visiting today! Please stop by to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with this awesome sketch. We hope you have a chance to play along and share YOUR creation this week over at the Paper Players

  1. Love this card Anne Marie. Hope you have a wonderful day.

  2. Just LOVE it....great masculine card for sure! Love the background, the way you did it too!

  3. Love it!! Great card for a guy and really like how you did the sail. It looks so pretty in the white.

  4. Awesome...perfect idea to use this set!

  5. Beautiful, or should I say handsome, masculine card! This is my favorite set from the Summer Mini, and you have done it proud! I am glad you were able to put my Sanded stamp to good use!

  6. What a fabulous masculine card!!!! I love that embossed background and REALLY love how you tied the ribbon at the top! I've got to remember that!!!

  7. What a great card, Anne Marie! I love the sanded background and the color spritzer technique. I think you're channeling "Ann" - maybe she imparts some of her stamping genius with her sold stamp sets ? If that is the case, I should look into her next sale. :)

By the way, I think that sail boat could have taken a cruise today in my backyard which became a nice little lake/pond courtesy of Ms. Irene.

  8. Beautiful, Anne Marie! I love the way the white sails pop off the card without being too bright either. Clever placement of the sentiment too.

Thanks for all you encouragement and support over the last 3 months. I've had so much fun!

  9. LOVE this AM! The stamp looks fabulous on Crumb Cake and your coloring adds so much dimension. Love the embossed BG, the spritzing and the antique brad is the perfect touch. Fabulous card, my friend!

  10. Anne Maire, This is such a beautiful card. I just LUV your color choice and the vintage brad in the corner is such a perfect finishing touch. I am such a fan of your work:).

  11. I love that blue background with your colors. Such a fabulous manly card. Hugs,

  12. Ann Marie what a great masucline card. I am so they retired this stamp and Sail Away..hope they both come back too. Your white sails stand out on the crumb cake so cool, and the brad IS nautical. Never noticed that before. Love the way you tied the wide ribbon too. Hugs.

  13. Ooooh, love this card! That big textured square makes me think of the beach. Love the way you've colored the boat and waves and tucked the little sentiment down on the right. Beautiful!

  14. Classy card, Anne Marie! Really like the look of the big ribbon and how you finished it off on the top!

  15. This is such a wonderful masculine card. I love the colours you've used and all your shading on the image is perfect. Great job AM!

  16. I love this stamp (and background) and your card really showcases it! Love the rustic, weathered feel of this card!

  17. Anne Marie... Your card is so Perfect! I love it.
