Broadway Birthday for PP467

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Claire has a fabulous Color Challenge for us:
Soooo, it’s not a big shock that I am a HUGE fan of all color combos that feature bright and cheery colors. Claire really hit it out of the park with this mix, that’s for sure! As soon as I saw this trio, I was immediately inspired by a card I saw in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I decided to put my own spin on it for this challenge.
Yes, this card has a LOT of different elements and I think it’s really fun. I used the Broadway Birthday stamp set and the coordinating Broadway Lights Dies for this card. I just love that big bold sentiment, don’t you? November is a BIG birthday month (including my birthday…yay!) so I actually needed to make quite a few birthday cards to get ready to mail out.

I embossed the background with the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder for a little pop of texture and then created a little “scene” around the tri-colored sentiment. All of the elements are popped-up on Stampin’ Dimensionals (except the “marquee sign”) to make them stand out a little bit.
For the sentiment, I simply cut 3 pieces of Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green  and Bermuda Bay cardstock into three strips, each measuring 5” x 5/8” and taped them together on the back of the cardstock. Then, I die-cut the sentiment. I used basic Scotch Tape to adhere them together, nothing fancy.
Of course, there is a lot of sparkly detail on this card. I die-cut the little “marquee” image in Sparkle Glimmer Paper and then dressed up the balloons by covering them with the Fine Tip Glue Pen and then sprinkling on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Sure, glitter gets everywhere when you are creating, but that’s half of the fun, isn’t it? It’s the crafting gift that keeps on giving long after the project is completed.

Card Measurements:
  • Bermuda Bay Card Base - 5-1/2”  x  8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder) - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Scraps of Sparkle Glimmer Paper, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay for die cut images
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 5-1/4” x 4"
If you aren’t a fan of loose glitter, I also created another version of the same card. I dressed up the balloons and party hats with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a “less of a mess” option. Or you could just leave the sparkle off altogether, if it’s not your thing. That looks great, too! It’s really that fabulous color combo that is the star of the show on this card.
Finally, here is a look at the inside of the card, with more stamps images and a coordinating sentiment from the stamp set.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Color Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday November 15th, 2019.

*On a personal note: I’ve been on a little bit of a hiatus this week because we have been dealing with some major health issues with our sweet dog, Ozzy. I have been an emotional mess most of past week and I truly appreciate you all hanging in there with me. It was actually nice to get into my craft studio to make my card for this challenge, even if I struggled to get in there initially. My sweet boy was snuggled at my feet and that helped SO much.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! All of the products I used on this card are listed below. You can click on any of the photos to go directly to my Stampin’ Up!® online store

Christmas In the Woods for PP466

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am super-excited to be hosting our monthly Theme Challenge:
This theme has a lot of fun possibilities. When I selected this theme, the things that came to mind were elements like woodgrain paper, wood texture, trees, cabins, forest critters, plaid and SO much more! I hope you will join us and play along!

I guess it makes sense that the In the Woods Dies were the first thing that came to mind when I sat down to make my card. Pretty literal interpretation of the challenge, right? Haha! Instead of pairing them up with the coordinating Winter Woods stamp set, I thought it would be fun to showcase the gorgeous Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. One side of the paper features gorgeous photographed scenes and the other side features patterns with silver foil accents. It’s GORGEOUS!!

Color Combo:
All of the measurements and supplies for this card are listed below. I used the Merry Moose stamp set for sentiments on this card because I wanted something small and simple since the images are so bold on this card. I popped-up the layer of Purple Posy Cardstock (die cut with the largest Stitched Rectangle die) with Stampin’ Dimensionals to create added dimension.

There are a lot of sparkly details on this card, but life is better with a little sparkle, right? The die cut pieces and sentiment banner are on Shimmery White Cardstock, which adds a subtle sparkle. The Ice Stampin’ Glitter was added using liquid glue to the tips of the tree and along the snow drift. This is more of a “chunky” glitter and really easy to work with. I took a few of the Snowflake Sequins in different shapes and glued them down to accent the snowy scene. I also spritzed the Purple Posy “frame" with a mix of rubbing alcohol and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. For the finishing touch, I added a triple bow of Silver Metallic Thread to the top of the tree.

Card Measurements:
  • Purple Posy Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Purple Posy Cardstock (die cut in the middle with the largest Stitched Rectangles Dies) -4” x 5-1/4”
  • Shimmer White Cardstock (stamped with sentiment in Basic Gray ink and punched on one end with Tailored Tag Punch) - 2-1/2” x 3/4”
  • Scraps of Shimmery White Cardstock to cut out die cut tree and die cut snow drift from In the Woods Dies
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
Finally, here is a quick peek inside the card. I flipped over the same DSP from the front of the card to use the beautiful foil pattern and popped in a coordinating sentiment from the Merry Moose stamp set. I think the sentiment goes well with that serene image on the front of the card, don’t you?

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project with our ”Into the Woods Theme Challenge". We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday November 8th, 2019.
