Paper Players #71 - My Recipe Challenge

Hi there and Happy Sunday to you! This week at the Paper Players, I am your hostess and am trying something a little different this week. Are you ready to cook up some treats in the Creative Kitchen? The Paper Players "Top Chefs" have whipped up some awesome inspiration this week, so be sure to stop by and visit them.
My patterned papers came from the Domestic Goddess DSP, the ribbons are Poppy Parade 1/2" Stitched Poly ribbon and White Baker's Twine, the punches are the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, the flower from the Bitty Punch Pack, 1- 3/4" Circle punch, 3/4" Circle punch (for the snail shell) Large Oval and Small Oval (ret.) The sparkle comes from the Silver Glimmer Paper. I almost forgot this element. Seriously? Me, forgetting sparkle? This is a crime, I tell you!!!
Here is the inside of the card...hopefully the snail image from the Button Buddies set (it's baaaackkk!!) on the front makes sense now. I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS seem to have a need for belated b'day cards.
As I was wrapping up this post, I was met with a super-cuddly Schnauzer...adorned with an embellished nose. I grabbed my phone and snapped a quick photo, as he had no idea how stinkin'  cute he looked. Oh Emmitt! Pearls and rhinestones seem to pop up everywhere in this house...I even had one stuck to my foot the other day.
Please stop by the Paper Players blog! The rest of the DT have created some fabulous treats to share. We really hope you will play along and have some fun with your creative creation, using our recipe. We are also welcoming our new November Guest Designer, Susan Joyce this week, so please pop by and say hello!

Have a HAPPY day! :)

OCC "Man" Challenge from Tui

Hello there and Happy SUPER Saturday to you! I am excited (and a bit nervous) to share a new creation for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge. This week, the lovely Tui Nathan is out hostess and boy, has she come up with a challenge for us. GAH! This week, we are focusing on masculine cards with NON-Masculine colors.
Here are the details, straight from our sweet hostess:
"Masculine cards are the type of cards I have the most difficulty with, therefore my challenge is to create a masculine card or project.  However, if you would like a real challenge and to step up the heat a bit try creating a masculine card .... using .... non-traditional masculine colours - plus, any neutrals of your choice."

Tip:  Think about using textures, plaid, checks, stripes, argyle, stamped images and sentiments also brads, grommetts, twine, string, burlap, then add the colour - think yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, reds, pastels, and finally add in your neutral.   Be creative and have fun!

So, in an effort to jump-start my creative mojo, I turned to another challenge for the card design. Tui is on the DT for Freshly Made Sketches as well, and she designed the fun sketch this week. So this is technically a "two-fer" challenge...well, actually, it is a "Tui-fer"!

I created this card for my favorite "rock-star" (aka: my sweet hubby!). He is headed to "H-Town" this week for a concert, with a good friend. For all of you non-Texans...that is Houston. They are going to be livin'-large, "VIP-style"...hanging with the band and all that cool-stuff. I wanted to make a card to tuck in his bag for the trip.

I used a little argyle from the  Big Top Birthday DSP, along with a color combo of Daffodil Delight and Taken with Teal. Yup, I realized after typing those names that they SO do not sound really masculine. But, pairing them up with the Grunge Rock stamp set has to count for some extra "guy" points, right?
Hope you have a chance to play along at  Our Creative Corner this week! Please stop by to see what the rest of the Design Team have whipped up this week for this "guy" challenge. We hope you will have some fun and play along!

Big Sparkly {Hugs}

Hi there, stampers! Hope your week is going well so far. I wanted to share a card I made for a friend today. She was in need of some happy mail this week and what better way to send a little "happy" then with a BIG {Hug}...with sparkles, of course.

I used this week's combo over at the ColourQ for inspiration. I just love that pop of Island Indigo with the traditional fall colors. Sooo pretty!
I paired up the colors, with the sketch from A La Card Monkey. I haven't had a ton of free time lately to play along with my favorite challenges, so I am really enjoying all of the creative inspiration from both of these sites. I switched up the square elements for some layered circles.
I dusted off a stamp set that hasn't seen ink in a while: Season of Friendship. I really like this set and really need to use it more often. Everyone needs a stamped sentiment to send some hugs and the Perfect Words (hostess) set has some really cute phrases. I tried to make the polka dots on the embossed background standout a little by gently running a Very Vanilla Craft ink pad over the raised dots. I also added an extra ruffle of ribbon around the sentiment to give it a "hug"...that wasn't intended to be "punny", it just kind of happened. Haha! All of the rest of the supplies are listed at the end of the post.
On the inside, I used some scraps from the front along with a sentiment from a retired set: Occasional Quotes. I'm so excited to send this off with a box of treats to hopefully brighten my friend's day. I put extra chocolate in the box, because you can't go wrong when Godiva truffles are involved, right?
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a HAPPY day! :)

PS: I also have a couple days left of a fun give-away. CLICK HERE, if you would like to check it out.

Paper Players Fall Blog Hop

Looking for the Our Creative Corner post? Please CLICK HERE!
Happy Saturday everyone!  If you have been to the Paper Players Blog, you will know we are having a blog hop!  Everyone on the hop is celebrating a fall project on their blog and some of us have blog candy to share! So be sure to check out each blog. The list is at the end of the post.

For my card, I went to my trusty fall favorite set: Day of Gratitude. I know, I tend to use this set a LOT this time of year but I really like the amount of ink it holds for those clean and bold images. Pair it up with some Spice Cake DSP and it's a "Fall-tastic" duo!
I kept my layout pretty clean to let the colors and textures take the stage. Lately, I seem to be fixated on polka dots, so they made their way onto this card with the ribbon and the embossing folder.
Here is a quick shot of the inside of the card:

***WAIT, did somebody say BLOG CANDY??***
In honor of the Paper Players Fall Hop I have some goods to give away. I will ship anywhere on the planet, too...so no matter where you live, you are eligible.

Included in my "goods" will be:

  • a "Hi & Hello" wood mount stamp set (ret.)
  • a full roll of Alpine felt ribbon (ret.)
  • Candy Lane DSP (cut into 6x6 squares)
  • a handmade card...or two, from my stash
  • other crafty treats to fill the box up...some may be SU!, some may not be...but I am committed to filling all the space in the shipping box with treats!

(although there are a few readers who would like me to send a Maine Coon cat or a Schnauzer...unfortunately, they are NOT up for grabs this round. But their behavior is on a slippery slope, you might have a crack at them really soon! Stay tuned!)

****So HOW DO YOU WIN?***
Simple...just leave me a happy comment. If you want a bonus entry, then all you have to do is hop on over to ALL of the blogs on the hop and leave them a comment. Stop back here and let me know that you did, and you will get another entry. You have until November 5th to register for the give-away! I will be doing a random drawing for a winner that day. Of course, if you would like to become a follower, that would be awesome and would make my day....but it's NOT required to win! :)

Fancy Folds for Our Creative Corner

Hi there and Happy Saturday to you! I'm so excited to share a fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner brought to you by this week's hostess: Tui Nathan. Tui is challenging us to create a FANCY FOLD card this week. How fun is that??!
I created a tri-shutter card. It looks so much more difficult then it actually is to create. CLICK HERE for a great tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. Because this card was SO dimensional, I had a hard time NOT over-embellishing it.
Believe it or not, this is the FIRST time I have ever created one of these cards. After I finished it I wondered why I hadn't tried this technique sooner. Yup, I might be the first on the planet NOT to have created one of these....

For the dimensional ornament, I simply punched 6 ornaments from the punch of the same name. I folded each in half and distressed them a bit with some Early Espresso ink and a Stampin' Sponge. I stuck the punched ornaments together with liquid glue...added some (ret.) Silver Elastic cord and a hook from the Basic Clip Assortment. I stuck the ornament down with Sticky Strip just to make sure it held on.

The double bow is accented with the mini-jingle bells for fun. Now, this isn't THE card you are going to stick in the mail, but think about how awesome it would be to hand-deliver a card with such fun dimension.
Each layer was distressed by sponging some Early Espresso ink around the edges:
Here is an overview of the entire card design:
So are YOU ready to get your "FANCY ON"? Please stop by the Our Creative Corner site and check out what the lovely ladies on the DT have created for inspiration this week. We hope you will join us and play along. :)

Have a HAPPY day!

Paper Players #69 - Nance's Sketch

Hey there stampin' friends! This week at the Paper Players, the "notorious" Nance has a fun sketch to share.  I say notorious because she is absolutely AWESOME!  Big hugs to YOU, Nance! Give her big whoo-hoo for this fabby sketch...and I sure hope you will join us and play along this week.
I had a big ol' box of stampin' treats delivered to my door on Friday and I couldn't wait to bust into them.  I'm officially in the "holiday spirit" and can't stop making Christmas cards, as of late. I dressed my card up with some pearls because it just seemed fitting.

I used the new Stitched Felt accents (from the Holiday Mini) on my card. Such a fun way to add detailed dimension to a project. They come already assembled, you just stick them down. How easy-peasy is THAT??! I dressed up some Satin Ribbon to add a little pizazz  My 'folds" are mostly even...eeek! The sentiment and image are stamped and heat embossed for added shine.
Here is the inside of the card...because I think it is fun to "keep the party going" from the front. I've also started decorating my envelopes. I figure, if you are going to send a hand-made card, you just need to do it right and embellish it up!

Before I go, I wanted to share a shot of my boys, post-grooming-session this week. Look at those Halloween bandannas! So cute! I realized that I have not shared some "furry-fun" in a while, so here you go. (It was a quick shot from my iPhone, so please excuse the poor lighting.)

Thanks for visiting today! Please stop by and see what the rest of the lovely ladies on the Paper Players DT have created for inspiration this week:

The Paper Players Design Team
Anne Marie Hile (that's me!)
Tara Bilbao
Cindy Hall (Octob
