Texas Christmas

Hello and Happy Saturday! Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. If you have visited my blog before, your eyes are NOT deceiving you...I really made a red and green Christmas card today (not my favorite, as you may know). I kind of like how it turned out, though...I think I do anyway. Hmmm... ;)

I used this week's fun color combo from The Color Throwdown as my inspiration.Try as I might, I absolutely could NOT make anything other then a holiday card with this mix.
Then I used the following sketch from Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge to put it all together
I decided to ink up a retired set I bought a while back (Yippee Kiyay Holiday) because I thought this little cactus image would make a rockin' Texas Christmas card. In my search for a set to use today, I realized that I completely forgot I had it. Yes, I really need to go through my stamp room in a major way...

After coloring in the image, I decided to fancy it up a bit with some bling on the star, Crystal Effects on the ornaments and red glitter on the gifts. I also embossed the Certainly Celery layer with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I have officially decided that I don't know if I would be able to continue making cards if something ever happened to that folder. It is my "go-to" folder for a lot of projects. Then I simply added some ribbon and a few red half pearls to mimic the ornaments on the tree. Yee Haw and there you have a red and green (Eeek!) Texas Christmas card.
It has been a while since I have shared a pet photo with everyone. Today my little fur-ball Benjamin, got himself into his usual mischief and I caught him red-handed...or maybe that should read "ribbon-handed". He likes to sneak around and help himself to anything laying on my desk lately, then parade it around the house for all to see. He is such a little monster!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy stampin',

  1. Cute card! I'm not a HUGE red and green fan, but I used it today too. Sometimes you just have to go with tradition, right? lol

I really like the's really a cute image.

  2. Well Howdy - and hope ya'll have a wonderful Christmas! Fabulous card - so very "Texas" looking too. I like the red and green!

  3. Oh my! This is too cute! I love the Southern spin and all those adorable polka dots!! Thanks for joining us at the Color Throwdown this week!

  4. Such a cute holiday card. It may be traditional in the color combo but it's still non-traditional in the image.

Benjamin is cute and doing what cat's are supposed to do... cause mischeif. I don't usually let my cats in my craft room, but every once in a while I don't close my door tightly and my Nicky will sneak in. He jumps right on the shelf where I keep my yarn, steals the most expensive hank (of course) and takes off with it running through the house with a tail of yarn dragging behind him which entices Eli to chase it. By the time I can catch them and get my yarn back it's soggy and frayed.

  5. Fabulous, Anne Marie! Love how you incorporated the color combo!

  6. Absolutely splendid! Love the color combo and your very festive Christmas card! Perfect! Here, we have year round scorching weather and last year I made a few cards for friends with palm trees and lights, lol! Appropriate for Miami! :) Happy Halloween to you!

  7. ohhhhh so cute! I love the ribbon and the colors and .. oh yeah.. the card is cool too. *chuckle*

So, I've been AFK for a few days, did ya miss me? LOL

You already know I love this little card. You pile on the layers and the coolness and it's got to be good!

My little Texan would love this card! I do too since I claim Texas as home more than I do Mississippi!

  8. This is the best Xmas card ever!!! This is so Texas. I just love the colors and how your EF Swiss dots matches your DP! You kitty is too cute to get into trouble, there is no way he did it, had to be Ozzy :) It's a set up I tell ya.

  9. Very pretty card! Love the clean lines and all the dots! Thanks for joining the Color Throwdown!

  10. He is the most adorable furball! And maybe it should be red-pawed?

  11. Well, this is a rootin-tootin-cutie kind of a card! Love it (and your kitty!). Thanks so much for playing the CTD and using my colors this week!
