Card Monkey Coffee

Hello and Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a great day today! Here is a card that I created inspired by this week's challenge from A La Card Monkey. It immediately caught my eye because the sketch is centered around one of my favorite things: COFFEE! Of course I had a trusty Starbucks cup by my side, when I made this one. Haha! 
The main image is from a retired set called Sip by Sip. After I colored it in, I decided to abandon the search for patterned paper and used an embossing folder to mimic the steam coming off the cup and a paper crimper to mimic the little "sleeve" on my Starbucks cup. What is the actual name for those things? Does anyone know? I also added some Crystal Effects to the coffee in the cup and on the coffee pot. 
When it came to the color combo I just HAD to use Early Espresso. ;) What goes great with coffee? Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler sounded good to me, so they were added, too. I also love using that satin ribbon, any chance I get. It ties perfectly EVERY time! Behind the little hearts, I added a layer of Glimmer Paper for a little pop of sparkle.

    This is really cute! I love the colors, the crimping, the border punch, tabs, Crystal Effects, etc. I think the word you're looking for is a "wussy ring" - at least that's what I call it and I'm in Washington state, the home of Starbucks. lol Thanks for entering our challenge at A La Card Monkey!

    I've always called them coffee sleeves...not sure if that is the official name for them.

    Ahhh, a woman after my own heart...I just always tell the waitress to put an IV in my arm and pump the coffee directly into my veins!! LOL! But you can keep the Starbucks--too strong for me! But the card is PERFECT!!! Very, very cute--I don't even remember that set! And can you believe, I don't have any SU coffee sets? Nary a one! Must remedy that! So glad you were able to play with the monkeys!

    Anne Marie this is just perfect! I love the colors--rich and warm. Adore the embossed swirls--the perfect effect for this card. Of course all the AM touches of sparkle and shine are fabulous as usual! My favorite detail might just be the corrugated "sleeve"--it's the finished touch! Love it all! ((hugs))

    I've always called them "sleeves" as well. As a fellow coffee lover, I had to stop by and pay my compliments to a beautiful card.

    I love your post today. This fantastic card is sooooooo for me!!! What a fabulous coffee card and those beans inside.... *squeal*..... I think after diamonds, coffee is a girl's best pal.... and if there's crumb cake... oh, my! What else could one ask for?!

    I love this card, it is so cute! Great idea on the embossing! I have always called the cup cozy's, I don't really know if that's right though :)

    I also love that you do the inside of your cards! I think this is something that I should incorporate into my cards!

    Ann Marie.... your card is too cute and you're making hungry with your discription of coffee, and crumbcake and cobbler! Love the details...... ALL of them! Great Card... I have to CASE this one as I have all the stamps. Very cool or should I say "steaming" Yeah baby!

    I call them a "coffee cozy" (maybe line a beer cozy)?? Love the first post that called is "wussy ring"... guess you're wuss if you need one? Too funny.
