Morning Cup for Paper Players #99

Happy Sunday to you! It's time for a new weekly challenge over at the Paper Players. This week, Lesley is our wonderful hostess with a fabulous color trio of Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo and Basic Gray. Great combo, don't you think?
I saw this awesome sketch over at The Sweet Stop blog and wanted to give it a try:
Ok, I don't really know what I was doing with the paper piercing. I had this idea that it might look like a "faux" table/tablecloth under the stamped images, but some ideas just don't come together as planned. *sigh* But the image was already colored and glittered. I NEVER waste glitter! Shameful! So there the paper piercing is...I guess it's kind of "pointing" to the sentiment. No, not really. Ugh! Now I'm just trying to justify it...so I'm just going to change the subject. Anyhoo, all of the supplies I used are listed at the end of the post. ;)
Quick shot of the inside of the card, with a sentiment that is SO true! Gotta have coffee! This card would be perfect paired with a Starbucks gift card, wouldn't it? Hmmm, Starbucks sounds really good right about now...
Hope you will join us over at the Paper Players and play along with Lesley's colors. The challenge is open until Friday, June 15th until Noon (PST).  Stop by and visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they have whipped up, too:

  3. You're too hard on yourself! LOL! I think that triangular piercing adds an element of interest! :) It definitely draws the eye to the main image! Love that pink polka dot DP with the houndstooth embossing folder!
Now it's time to go get my own cup of joe...
Hope you have a relaxing Sunday! :)

  4. How FUN Anne Marie! I see the paper piercing as the point of a tablecloth or even a folded napkin...looks good to me! Great texture and detail on your card, CUTE!

  6. Those colors are like strong coffee - they will wake you up on the morning! Great job with those colors! I like the piercing but it didn't remind me of a tablecloth I must admit. My first thought was the lid thing with the holes that went in old coffee pots like in the picture - I thought it was a retro touch :) And I love how the coffee pot is colored - some day I will learn how to color....

  8. You nailed this color challenge, which totally intimidated me! I thought your little piercings looked EXACTLY like a table cloth---which is what I thought you were going for, even before I read your post! Love the whole thing---beautiful sketch, too!

  10. You're so silly! It looks just like a table accent--in fact, I thought it looked like a crochet napkin draped over the table! either way, it's a fun detail that adds to the overall fabulous-ness of the coloring, the layout and the design! I'll raise a cuppa to ya!

  12. Great card and fabulous job using those colors. Truthfully, I didn't envision a tablecloth; I thought it was just a creative touch to the image layer. Looks like tablecloth to me now though!
