It’s Sunday and time for another challenge over at The Paper Players! This week the lovely and talented Joanne has a Theme Challenge for us: “Love is in the Air”. Does anyone remember that song from the 70’s with the same name? I think it was John Paul Young. How I remember that is beyond me. When it comes to random music trivia, I’m sharp as a tack…but ask me what I had for breakfast yesterday. Nope, couldn’t tell you that. But seriously, Google that song if you don’t know it. It’s SO full of 70’s awesomeness!
What’s great about this week’s challenge is that not only is it perfect to motivate you to get to creating those Valentine’s Day cards (tick, tock) but there are so many other ways to interpret the theme. I decided to finally ink up my Wonderful Romance stamp set to create what could be either a wedding, engagement or even an anniversary card. I’ll decide what occasion I’ll actually use it for later. I just love the sentiments in the set and that mix of fonts is just beautiful, isn’t it?
Let’s talk about the Floral Romance 12x12 Specialty DSP. The weathered wood background pattern is subtle, yet really adds some interest to the background. But the star of this paper pack is the patterned vellum. Look at the shading on those leaves and flowers. Swoon! I layered the vellum over a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies. The stitched border is a subtle touch but I love the detail that it added throughout the card. I added it throughout the card on three different elements, to keep it consistent. I wanted to layer the Whisper White behind the vellum to make the shading on the vellum stand out a bit more.
Here is the cool thing…normally vellum and adhesive are kind of a tricky mix. You can actually run SNAIL adhesive behind this patterned vellum and it doesn’t show through! Can I get a “woop-woop”?

Color Combo:
For the inside, I simply took a 1” x 5-1/4” strip of the patterned vellum and added it to a piece of 4” x 5-1/4” Whisper White cardstock. Since this card could work for a few different occasions, I’m going to leave it blank until I need it.

ReplyDeleteAM, I love the way you tied the fabulous cluster on the front to that pretty background DSP. The ribbon is the perfect finishing touch. Sounds like we needed you on our recent cruise when we were (attempting) to play music trivia!
