Mixed Drinks Throwback for PP446

Hello there and Happy Sunday! This week at The Paper Players the fabulous Claire is our hostess with a Clean-and-Simple Theme Challenge: Summer Beverages

What is your favorite drink to cool off on a hot summer day? My go-to is usually a big ol’ glass of iced tea (unsweetened, please) with lime or some cold brew from Starbucks. Yum! But when the occasion calls for it, a fruity, frozen concoction with a tiny umbrella will beat the heat, as well.
For my card, I reached in to the “stamp archives” to retrieve a retired stamp set: Mixed Drinks. There are some stamp sets that I’ll never get rid of, even if they have been retired from the Stampin’ Up!® catalog and this is one of them. As soon as I saw this theme challenge from Claire, this was the set that immediately came to mind. I knew it was time to dust it off and ink it up.
This stamp set has both the outline of the glass and then a solid image to stamp inside the glass to “fill it up.” Because this stamp set is Photopolymer, it makes it super easy to see the part of the stamp you are inking up. I started by inking up the entire image in Daffodil Delight ink and stamping inside the glass. Next, I ned up the image in Grapefruit Grove Ink but only inked up the image about two thirds of the way (no ink on the top third). The last step was to add Melon Mambo ink (Lovely Lipstick was a bit too dark) but only on the bottom third of the stamp.

Once the images were filled up, it was time to dress them up. It was after I stamped the little lemon garnish, I remembered that the new Dinoroar Designer Series Paper has a pattern that would work perfectly. It looks like a bunch of tiny fruit slices doesn’t it?
I also added some liquid crystal glaze sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the glasses for a little more detail. It takes a some time to dry, but was worth the wait.

The tiny flower is from the Lovely Flowers Dies. I had to keep reminding myself that it was Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Week and to NOT go overboard…so I just added one rhinestone. Ha! I did use the Subtle Embossing Folder on the Whisper White background layer to still keep it clean but with a tiny pop of texture.

Card Measurements:

  • Lovely Lipstick Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Subtle Embossing Folder) - 4” x 5-1/4”

Finally, here is a peek inside the card, using some of the little stamped images from the Mixed Drinks stamp set.
