Bells are Ringing for PP459

Happy Sunday stamping friends! Time for a new weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, I’m hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge with a fun theme: Marvelous Metallics. The theme encourages you to use any kind of metallic accents on your projects like foil paper, embossing, embellishments. I hope you will join us with your creative project!

So, what does Clean-and-SImple mean?

Minimal layers and embellishments
Plenty of open space, aka "white" space
Simple and uncluttered

I always chuckle a little when it’s my turn to host the Clean-and-Simple Challenge. If you only knew how much I struggle to create CAS cards. They take me twice as long to make because I totally overthink them. I was determined to make my teammates proud this week though! I figured the metallic element would add some “fancy” while keeping the design clean. Believe it or not, this card came together really quickly, which is a first for a mostly CAS card, for me anyway.
Since it’s September, I was inspired to make a…um, New Years card. Haha! Actually, I just received the new Bells are Ringing Bundle the other day and was excited to play around with it. I just love that detailed die-cut and to be honest, I actually bought the set mostly because it had a New Year’s sentiment in it. I always end up missing a few people on the Christmas card list, so I like to have New Year cards ready every year.

Today’s Colors:

If you haven’t seen the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog, you have to check it out. One side of the paper features beautifully photographed images and the other side is an awesome mix of silver metallic and Whisper White patterns. I went with the striped paper to play off some of the pattern in the die-cut bell.
For those “minimal embellishments” I accented the bell with a few pearls and added a simple bow for a little pop of texture. To be fair, I think it would have been just as pretty with one OR the other. I’m still kind of in awe that I left that piece of Whisper White Cardstock “plain”, with just the stamped sentiment. I wanted to emboss it SO badly. But now that I’ve embraced CAS card making (wait, have I??) embossing didn’t make the final cut.

Card Measurements:

  • Seaside Spray Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11” , scored at 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Seaside Spray Cardstock - 2-1/4” x 5-1/4”
  • Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper - 2” x 5-1/4”
  • Scraps of Silver Foil, Seaside Spray and Whisper White Cardstock for die cut images
  • Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”

Here is a quick peek inside the card with a little more of the Feels Like Frost DSP and a coordinating sentiment from the Bels are Ringing stamp set.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project with our Clean-and-Simple Marvelous Metallics Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday September 20th, 2019.
