Spooktacular Mummy for PP463

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Laurie is our hostess with a fabulous color combo.
As soon as I saw this color combo, I immediately thought to create a Halloween card. Pretty shocking, right? Haha! I do have Tangelo Twist and Elegant Eggplant somewhere in my crafty stash, I’m sure. As those colors are not current in the Stampin’ Up!® line-up, I decided to substitute some similar colors that are currently available instead. I also snuck in a little pop of Basic Gray…shhh! The Smoky Slate is in the DSP and I wanted something a little darker to pop up the stitched circle.
Color Combo:

The little mummy in the Spooktacular Bash Bundle just makes me smile. He looks adorably mischievous doesn’t he? Paired up with the “punny" sentiment from the stamp set, and a few layers (tee hee) this fun Halloween card came together. I’ve listed all of the measurements below. To be honest, the one detail I’m not too sure about is the silver thread behind the image. I don’t know if I love it, but it's stuck down to the card, so I guess it has to be ok. What do you think? Silver Thread is one of those accents that sometimes I like and sometimes I don’t. I’ll just shrug my shoulders and call it good on this one, I guess.
This card has a lot of sparkle! It’s tough to see in the photo but after I shaded the mummy with Stampin’ Blends markers I went over his little bandages with Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. The sentiment is heat embossed using the Shimmer Black Embossing Powder and then I added a little pop of Silver Glimmer Paper to dress it up a bit more.

On the Gorgeous Grape layer, I embossed using the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder, then spritzed a layer of glittery goodness using Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint mixed with some rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer Bottle. Tip: use rubbing alcohol that is a no higher than 70% to ensure your Shimmer paint doesn’t get “clumpy” in the bottle. The last detail is a trio of rhinestones colored with the Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Cards Measurements:
  • Basic Black - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Pumpkin Pie Cardstock - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock (scored with Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder) - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 5-1/8” x 1-7/8”
  • Spooktacular Bash Designer Series Paper - 5-1/8” x 1-3/4”
  • Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (stamped and punched on one end with Tailored Tag Punch) - 2-3/4” x 1”
  • Silver Glimmer Paper - 2-3/4” x 1/2”
  • Scraps of Black Foil, Basic Gray, Whisper White Cardstock for stamped and die cut pieces
  • Pumpkin Pie Cardstock (inside card) - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Spooktacular Bash Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 3-7/8”
Finally, here is a quick peek inside the card using more of that fun DSP and a coordinating sentiment. I also stamped a "little bottle of bones” for an added accent. The stamp features a trio of bottles, so I just used a post-it note to mask off the other two and just inked up the single bottle.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project with our ”Color Challenge". We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday October 18th, 2019.
