Cup of Christmas for PP469

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne has an awesome Sketch Challenge for us:
I always love a good sketch as a starting point in creating a card and his one was fun to work with! What I like about this sketch is that you can make it as simple or as layered as you’d like and I thought it was a fun way to showcase a couple of different patterns of Designer Series Paper, too.
For my card, I decided to use the Cup of Christmas Stamp Set with the Cup of Cheer Dies. (You can actually buy both together as a Bundle to save an extra 10%.) This stamp set features something new from Stampin’ Up!®: Reversables.  Two of the cup images in the set can be inked up on either side of the stamp to offer more versatility on your projects.

I decided to use the Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper with this set because I just love the colors and patterns in the paper so much. Coastal Cabana is one of those colors that works so well with so many colors, especially Real Red for holiday cards.

Color Combo:

I spent the day at an all-day stamping retreat yesterday and was able to bounce around a few ideas around with my sweet friends while putting this card together. One of my friends suggested that the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder reminded her of the steam coming off a cup of coffee (or tea, or cocoa…) and I thought that was awesome.

There are so many fun little accent dies in the Cup of Cheer Dies. The leaves, candy cane and little bow were perfect to add some extra details to the the cup. Of course, I added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the die cut pieces for some added sparkle.

Card Measurements:
  • Real Red Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Coastal Cabana Cardstock - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder) - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper (red pattern) - 4-3/4” x 3/4”
  • Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper (snowflake pattern) - 4-3/4” x 1”
  • Scraps of Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White for stamping and die cutting
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 3/4” x 4”
Finally, a peek inside the card, simply dressed up with a little pop of DSP and a coordinating sentiment from the set.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday November 29th, 2019.

  5. I love this stamp set (although it doesn't love me) and your color palette is so pretty, especially using those gorgeous DSPs! The swirly background does remind me of cocoa swirls! Delish!

  6. Loving the classic festive colour palette Anne Marie and I agree that the embossing folder does suggest steam coming from the mugs of hot chocolate! Reversible stamps are such a brilliant idea. How many times have we wanted to balance a card out with a mirror image - hope SU comes out with more of these :)
