Christmas Layers for PP471

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, LeAnne is hosing our LAST challenge of 2019
with this beautiful Color Challenge:
Seaside Spray and Crumb Cake are such a pretty color combo together, but adding the silver just makes them pop! So pretty!

I used the Christmas Layers Dies to dress up the background. I die-cut two of the “starry” images in Silver Foil and adhered them to the Seaside Spray layer. With intricate dies like these, I find it is best to use a Stamping Sponge and liquid glue to dab some adhesive on the back of the die-cut images. Use less glue than you will think you need on the sponge. A little goes a long way. You can always add more if you need it, but you can’t take it away.
After I adhered the die-cut “stars”, I colored-in the “loopy” areas (such a technical term, I know) in white to give them a little more detail. My sweet friend, LeAnne (who is hosting this challenge) sent me an awesome white gel pen for my birthday last month and this was the perfect project to ty it out on. The gel pen is called Acrylista and it is by Zig. Thank you so much LeAnne! I loved trying it out for your challenge!

*You could also use the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker from Stampin’ Up!® to create a similar effect. I tried it out and it works great, too!
I heat embossed the sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp set using the Shimmer White Embossing Powder. Then, I added a little pop of sparkle behind the sentiment layer with a scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals Dies using Silver Glimmer Paper. To finish everything off, I colored a trio of rhinestones with the Crumb Cake Dark Stampin’ Blends Marker and added a fluffy bow. All of the supplies I used are listed below.

Card Measurements:
  • Crumb Cake Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Seaside Spray Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Scraps of Silver Foil, Silver Glimmer Paper and Crumb Cake Cardstock for die-cut images
  • Whisper White (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Scraps of Silver Foil for die-cut snowflakes (inside card)
Finally, a peek inside the card, simply dressed up with a coordinating sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set and a trio of foil snowflakes die-cut from the Christmas Layers Dies.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Color Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! On a personal note, this past Monday we said good-bye to our sweet Ozzy. It has been an incredibly difficult week and I am just heartbroken. We are missing him so much, but know that he is no longer in any pain. I still remember the first time I saw him at the shelter, we connected instantly. He was a very special little guy!

  10. These colours are just gorgeous and I love how you've used them with this delicate image and sentiment oval. The embellishments are perfect - a frothy ribbon, the filled in 'loopy' bits, the rhinestones.
I'm very sorry to hear about your Ozzy. They say the price of love is grief and it is so, so true. Sending hugs, Vicky x

  11. AM, I love the die-cuts. I love that you colored the "loopy" bits in white - it really does make them pop. All round gorgeous card and a fabulous use of the colors. I think Vicky's comment is so true.... the price of love is grief... but how precious is the unadulterated love of our pets and how much joy they bring into our lives. Big hugs, my friend.
