Snowman Season for PP470

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Laurie has a wonderfully festive Theme Challenge for us:
Did the song pop into your head? Here, let me help. “Frosty the snowman, was a jolly happy soul, with a corncob pipe and a button nose…" Haha! I just love snowmen! Even though I don’t see much snow anymore living in South Texas, they are a big part of my holiday/winter decor. There is just something about their sweet little faces that just make me smile.

Of course, I instantly pulled out the Snowman Season Stamp Set and Punch Bundle to use on my card. I also grabbed the Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper and Let it Snow Embellishment Kit because everything just coordinates so perfectly together. The Embellishment Kit has lots of little “bits” to accessorize your little snowmen, like the felt hat/scarf, epoxy stick “arms” and those little bitty 3-D snowballs. So fun!

Color Combo:
This is one of those cards that took a bit more time to put together. I don’t see myself cranking out dozens of them for holiday cards but sometimes it’s just fun to create an extra-special card with lots of special details, right?

The sparkly snowman was punched right out of the Let it Snow Specialty DSP. SO easy! I punched out his “arms” from Black Foil Paper and attached them with Glue Dots. Everyone knows that good accessories are an important part of any outfit and the felt hat and scarf from the embellishment kit added such a fun pop of texture to the card.  The epoxy “buttons” from the embellishment kit added some shine.
Have you tried Embossing Paste yet? It is so much fun to use and adds awesome texture to your projects. You can even create custom colors using your re-inkers! I used the polka dot pattern from the Basic Patterns Decorative Masks because it reminded me of snowballs and went perfectly with the theme of this card.

Steps to use Embossing Paste:

  • Start with a piece of scrap paper and place your cardstock layer on top
  • Place mask over cardstock and tape down to scrap paper (I used washi tape) to hold in place
  • Using Palette Knife, gently smooth Embossing Paste over the top of the mask, filling in the polka dot pattern as you go
  • Using the smaller Palette Knife, gently slide any excess Embossing Paste off the mask to place back in the jar
  • Gently remove the mask and allow Embossing Paste time to dry on the cardstock
  • Immediately wash the Mask and Palette Knives in warm soapy water to remove Embossing Paste BEFORE it dries. *This step is important!

To give the snowman someplace to stand, I added some Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to the bottom of the Stitched Square Die Cut. I am SO obsessed with this stuff! Just pop on a little layer of paint, dry with your Heat Tool and BOOM, amazing snowy texture. I can’t stop using it! Finally, I added some of those little 3D “snowballs” from the embellishment kit using liquid glue. There is a LOT of texture on this card, that’s for sure…and I love it!

Card Measurements:
  • Real Red Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”

On a personal note: Many people have asked about my sweet dog, Ozzy. Unfortunately, he is not doing any better. He did not show any significant response to the meds, so at this point, we are just keeping him happy and comfortable for as long as we can. Thank you so much to everyone for thinking of him and us. It really means a lot.
