Painted Poppies for PP473

Happy Sunday! It’s a new week and time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, I’m very happy to be hosting our monthly Color Challenge.  Check it out and play along with us!
I really love this color combo and I hope you do, too: Poppy ParadeOld Olive, Rich Razzleberry and your choice of Neutral (I went with Basic Black). Even if you don’t have these exact Stampin’ Up!® colors, don’t let that stop you. Use a similar shade and have some fun!

For my card, I used two new Bundles from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog: Painted Poppies and Peaceful Moments. The Painted Poppies stamp set has beautiful floral images and the Peaceful Moments stamp set has an awesome assortment of sentiments perfect for all occasions. They really pair beautifully together, especially with the coordinating dies! This suite of product is truly one of my favorites in the new Mini Catalog!

*I have listed all of the supplies used to create this card at the end of this post.
My starting point for this card was to stamp the poppy image and two leaves in Momento Ink and then color them with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Then, I pulled a couple patterns of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper which just so happens to feature the challenge colors. Coincidence? Perhaps.

After I added the die-cut poppy and the leaves around the sentiment, I really thought the card needed something else. A little more “foliage” to accent the flower and to fill in the space a bit more. The DSP was my inspiration in pulling out the Bouquet Bunch Dies for those little vellum “branches". They actually coordinate with the paper pretty well, don’t you think? I also added some sparkle to the vellum and the flower with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Shocking, I know. HA!
It’s tough to see in the photos, but I also brushed some Wink of Stella all around the black “wreath”. After all, you can never have TOO much sparkle, right? To finish everything off, I added a trio of pearls colored with the Rich Razzleberry Dark Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Card Measurements:
  • Poppy Parade Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8” (floral pattern) and 3-7/8” x 1-3/8” (polka dot pattern)
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 1/2” (2 pieces, die cut one piece with the scalloped border from the Be Mine Stitched Dies)
  • Scraps of Whisper White, Basic Black and Vellum for stamping and die cutting
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
Finally, here is a peek inside the card. I added a strip of DSP and a coordinating image and sentiment from both stamp sets. I think decorating the inside of the card is a nice extra detail and it “keeps the party going” from the front of the card for the recipient.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Color Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday January 17th, 2019
